I think we are about due for an honest LIFE UPDATE, so here ya go!
I have been super stressed out and busy lately with all of the stuff I have to do over the next few months, so I just wanted to tell you all what I have going on! __
And what is up everybody? Welcome back to my channel.
So it's about 7 45 AM and I am at the airport picking up my lovely wife.
So she has actually been gone for the better part of a week.
So she was in Paris this whole last week with her mom doing like a kind of mom
daughter trip and all while I was working nights.
So basically she just wanted to get the heck out of the house while I was on
nights because I never get any sleep and I'm always miserable.
So she and her mom flew to Paris, had a fantastic time.
So she was supposed to fly in last night,
but her connecting flight from Paris to Lisbon, Portugal was delayed.
So that delay in Lisbon,
Portugal made her miss her flight coming back home here and she was supposed to
come in Thursday night late at work today,
but she had to be rescheduled on a flight this morning.
So now I'm picking her up.
So luckily I am still on my swing shift,
which means I don't go in until 1 PM today so I can actually pick her up.
And also this is my last swing shift of my entire life and I cannot wait.
I cannot describe to you how much I hate this shift,
but I'll tell you all about that in just a minute.
So first let's go ahead and pick up the wife because she is about to come in
right now.
All right, so Andreana is still at her gate right now.
So I wanted to take a little bit of time and tell you exactly why swing shift is
so miserable. It's also freezing out here.
So swing shift is from 1 PM through 8 PM and the reason it's so terrible is
because of the 5 PM to 8 PM part of it.
So that one three hour shift is pretty much the worst part of it.
Also look at this cool little observation deck right here. Hold on a sec.
So the reason it is so terrible is because the 5 PM through 8 PM part of that
shift is the worst.
So the whole radiology department leaves at 5 PM,
which means I am the only one reading studies.
So that means all of the inpatients and stat high level cases through the ER are
read by me. Now, normally that's, you know, what I do on night shifts,
but the reason it's so bad is because during the weekdays,
all of the outpatients are scanned during the day.
And then that means all of the inpatient post-op patients are reserved for after
5 PM, all the non-stat ones.
And for some reason they all tend to dump at the exact same time,
which means like as soon as it hits like 505,
I just get absolutely pummeled with nonstop studies.
So it's actually not that bad, but I don't get any help at that time.
And then that's when like everything else starts blowing up and I'm the only go
to person in the hospital for radiology.
So it's normal working hours for the rest of the hospital,
but I'm the only radiology person there. Hold on, interruption.
So it's just the 5 PM through 8 PM shift that is absolutely terrible.
But today is my last one of my entire life and I have never been happier because
no more stress and dealing with that crazy, crazy shift.
But that is later today.
Why don't we go ahead and pick up Andrana because she is almost here right now.
So on a side note, I haven't seen Andrana in about two weeks now,
even though we live together.
So the first week I was on night shifts and she was on her day shifts working
every day. So our schedules never overlapped.
She works 8 AM to 8 PM and I was working 8 PM to 8 AM.
So even though we were sleeping in the same household,
I never saw her for that entire week.
Then she went to Paris and was gone for almost a week.
So I haven't seen her in about two weeks, even though we live together.
So I miss her. Excited to see her again. So let's go ahead and pick her up.
I see her. I see her.
No hun, I need this in the front cause I have to give you the macarons.
What'd you get? Um, this is my present. Yeah. What is it?
Macarons from two different places. Macarons? Macarons.
Beautiful. You want to try them hun? Yeah, let me try them.
I didn't try them, the flavors. I may have to try a bite of all of them.
Oh, what else is new?
But I just wanted to get you all different flavors.
I mean we can go. We can go. I just want to see them.
I just want to see what Paris. There are two.
Wait. But wait, there's more. Oh my gosh.
What is that? Oh, it's delicious.
I think so. No. Oh, I'm going to destroy these. Okay. We're going to eat them now.
All right. So I am officially back at home now. Uh,
Adriana just left to go to work, which is absolutely crazy.
So she's gone now.
I still have a few more hours till I have to go to work and it is now time for
me to get some serious work done because I'm not going to lie,
I've been so stressed out lately with all the stuff I have to do.
I think that's part of the reason I can't sleep and all that stress compiled
with no sleep is kind of like eating me alive currently.
So I just finished my seven day straight of night shift this past Sunday.
It's now Friday and I finished it.
I finished at 8am on Sunday morning and then had to be at work on daytime shifts
on Monday morning.
So I didn't really have any time off to kind of transition over to daytime
schedule. The past three years when we would do our week of nights,
we would only do six in a row.
That way I would finish Saturday morning and have all day Saturday and all day
Sunday to kind of recollect myself before switching back to days.
But this year we decided to do a thing where we do all seven days straight
rather than have some random person come in on a weekend and do just a night
shift on Saturday.
So it's good in the fact that nobody has to come in and waste a weekend for a
night shift on Saturday.
But I've quickly come to realize it is terrible for me to transition back to the
daytime life, working seven days straight and no day off in between.
So like I said, I have a lot going on right now. So for one,
I'm finishing my night shift block. So I have today's my last swing shift,
which I cannot wait for. I'm so excited.
And then I do seven days of nights again, starting on Sunday.
Once that's over, I switched back to IR for two months.
Then I do a cardiovascular imaging rotation.
Then I go to vascular surgery for a month and then I'm completely done with my
residency here before I go to New York for training.
So I only have four months left down here and I have so much to do in that time.
It's like killing me. So for one, let's start from the top. One,
I have three SIR projects that I'm trying to do right now.
So SIR is a huge IR conference that's in Seattle this year and it's at the end
of March. Secondly, I have to do my taxes,
which I'm switching accountants this year.
My last accountant completely ruined our taxes. I don't know what they did.
They told Andriana she was getting all this money back.
And then like a day later they were like, Oh, actually you owe that money.
I mean, I don't know how you screw that up,
but that's actually really hard to find a good accountant that I trust and
getting recommendations is tough too. And some of them are really expensive.
So we're trying to do that.
The fourth thing is I still have to keep up with all my content on YouTube.
So I mean this,
this is probably my favorite thing to do is film all these YouTube videos and
edit them in my kind of usual fashion and kind of think of ideas and work with
other sponsors and come up with video ideas. It's, it's super fun for me.
So I want to keep doing it in the future. So, but it's, you know, it's,
it's a job essentially. It's a hobby, but it's,
it's a job and I still have to do a lot of work for it. And uh, yeah,
so that's tough to keep up with.
But YouTube is one of my top priorities right now.
So we're going to keep it going. Oh,
and I also failed to mention that we're moving to New York city in four months.
So we don't have an apartment, don't have movers.
I have to sell both of our cars.
So I have to do all that in the meantime as well. And as you all know,
New York real estate is not cheap.
One bedroom apartments can run anywhere from like 2,500 on up to like $5,000 a
month, which is crazy.
So trying to find a good deal on those is tough in itself.
And New York real estate is very unique because some of the apartments can be
absolute garbage and some of them can be like super high end and there's a huge
price difference between them, like huge.
So trying to find the right one is really tough and they're,
they're so small to begin with.
So trying to find a unique space with a big enough space for the price is very
challenging. So anybody who's lived in New York knows exactly what I'm talking
about. And, uh, yeah, it's kind of crazy. This,
this is all happening within the next four months. So, you know, Oh,
I also have my niece will be born in May.
So I'll be spending a lot of time in Chicago. Uh, so that's cool.
So basically, basically this four months is crazy.
And I think that's why I'm getting no sleep because I'm just constantly thinking
about everything I have to do.
Compile that with switching between night shifts and day shifts is just kind of
crazy. So if I miss a week on videos, that's what I'm doing.
I'm just running around like a crazy person trying to get everything taken care
of before I moved to New York city. So you'll have to give me a pass if I miss a week,
but I'll try not to. So anyways, that's that.
I'm sorry this video is kind of like a hodgepodge of things that are going on in
my life,
but I want to keep you guys up to date on everything that's happening in my life,
regardless of how crazy it is. And I'm not complaining at all.
I absolutely love this. It's just stressful.
And I'm trying to get through this four months because it's so hectic.
So hopefully you all understand. So as always,
