Thailand vs Korea | Quarter Finals Highlights | AVC Women's Continental Championship 2026. Thailand delivered an impressive performance in the quarterfinals of the 2026 AVC Women’s Volleyball Continental Championship, defeating South Korea in straight sets, 3–0. The match was played on August 27, 2026, in Tianjin, China, and Thailand controlled the contest from beginning to end, winning 25–20, 25–18 and 25–21.
Thailand entered the knockout stage as the winner of Pool B, while Korea advanced after finishing second in Pool C. As the defending Asian champions, Thailand carried significant expectations into the quarterfinal and responded with a composed and efficient performance. Their fast attacking tempo, organized defense and powerful serving placed Korea under consistent pressure.
The opening set was competitive, but Thailand created separation at the decisive stage and closed it 25–20. Thailand increased the pressure in the second set, controlling the rallies and preventing Korea from establishing a consistent attacking rhythm. A commanding 25–18 victory gave the Thai team a two-set advantage.
Korea attempted to extend the match in the third set and remained within striking distance, but Thailand stayed calm during the important closing rallies. The defending champions maintained their offensive efficiency and completed the sweep with a 25–21 victory.
Pimpichaya Kokram was the outstanding performer and leading scorer of the match. The Thai opposite recorded 19 points, including 18 kills and one block. Outside hitter Sasipapron Janthawisut added 16 points, while Chatchu-On Moksri contributed another 12. Their combined production gave Thailand several reliable attacking options and made it difficult for Korea to organize its blocking and defensive system.
Na Hyun-soo led Korea with 12 points, recording ten kills and two blocks. She was Korea’s most productive attacker, but the team could not match Thailand’s depth or sustained pressure. Thailand also held a significant advantage from the service line, recording six aces compared with only one for Korea.
The straight-sets victory secured Thailand’s place in the semifinals, where they were scheduled to face Japan. Japan advanced by defeating Chinese Taipei 3–0 in the other quarterfinal played that day. Thailand therefore remained in contention to defend its continental title and pursue the tournament’s major qualification rewards, including a place at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games for the champion.
For Korea, the defeat ended its championship campaign before the medal round. Although Korea showed resistance, particularly during the first and third sets, Thailand’s faster offense, superior serving and greater number of scoring options ultimately decided the match.
Thailand’s 3–0 victory was a statement performance from the defending champions. Led by Pimpichaya Kokram, Sasipapron Janthawisut and Chatchu-On Moksri, Thailand demonstrated its speed, technical quality and composure under knockout-stage pressure, earning a deserved place among the final four teams in Asia.
This quarterfinal matchup of the ABC Women's Volleyball Continental China 2026 here in Tianjin.
Korea looking for the side-out start. That stayed in play, didn't go over the antenna or outside it
and it will be off the block and away. No, it didn't catch the block, did it? Referee's given it to...
No, they changed their mind. I have your picture. Did give it to Thailand. Saw the reaction of the
chance here for Korea. Will make the side-out. That's more like it from Pin Pichai. That's what
she's very good at doing. She works so much variation on cross-court angle. Very hard to
get a defense set against her. She wants to take the long corner or sharper angles.
Nice variation to cut that one up a little bit short. The block position from Tsutsipaporn
starting really wide. Such a good attack from Pin Pichai. She gets the angles right and the
She has great range on the cross-court shot and what that does is open up the space.
Teams really trying to deny her an angle so she takes the opportunity on the line this time.
Right now the reception is just only left in one option. That's more like it.
With Thailand were waiting for that on the good ball in. They can't stop that though.
Really good recover from the ball coming off the block.
So the Thai block is really shifted over. Challenging the sets of Nathiam Soot.
Delightful touch on this ball. We're so used to seeing her being physical and working strong on
the ball. First defense with effect and second time that ball into the space.
One punt to serve. A bit aggressive enough with the swing.
That one a bit better. Can't go behind. Does go behind. Thailand are ready.
Now it's Korea trying to get back in control. Have they done it?
Yes they have. That is a super swing Kang. So we can't stop the side out. The two players
in the minute for Thailand are definitely Pimpichaya and Sassafraporn who are leading the way.
As they have throughout the tournament so far. The two top scorers on the Thai roster.
So young to serve. One side out needed by Thailand to take this set.
Will do it. 25-20 Thailand lead by one set to nothing.
Nice touch in the block for Thailand. Can they convert? It's a really good pickup.
Well played Korea. It's going to be three ball Korea and they've got four attacking options.
Three front row and then another pipe in the back. Thailand make a good touch. Best ever to Korea.
Can't keep the ball in play. That was the set that Chechwan wanted at the beginning of that phase.
She got a quick ball. She wasn't expecting.
They're doing a good job denying the big parts of the court.
Trying to take advantage. That's a boop by Chechwan.
Some recognition from Pimpichaya. She just has to get that ball to the right side of the offense.
Especially that shift where it becomes the short distance.
A really good hit. Cecipeperon is 178 but you wouldn't think so. She hits for a really good
high point. Movement as well. So the middle running the slide opens up the spaces either
side of the block. Cecipeperon to serve. Lovely. Really good swing.
This kind of connection takes a while to develop. So far so aggressive.
Nice recycle. Worth a swing. Making it tricky for Thailand.
That's made it. The angle. What an angle from Pimpichaya. Expert use of the equipment of the net.
Uses the top of the tape to take some pace off that ball.
Whether by design or good luck. Let's give her the credit for design.
Just as good a ball as you can hope for. They're unable to capitalize and Korea can.
Kang So-Hui stepping up to the plate. Korean captain really starting to take some responsibility
in the offense. Critical moments in this game. You have to keep the play. So three front row
attackers. Two in the back row. Get off this rotation. Not just yet. Not a chance but it's
going to be down ball. Korea still in the driver's seat. Can they finish it off? Yes they can and
another break point. They're back to within three. Ah-Hoon Su starting to deliver from the back row.
So giving another option to get some width in the offense for Korea. Thailand. Kim Dae-In with the serve.
Running the X. Again we get into the 20s. Thailand start to use the combination play
of different looks in the offense to provide themselves a couple of points of grace
against the Korean block. Off the block. Not being given. Might be a challenge coming.
I could see the net was touched but I thought it might have been the ball.
From Korea. They've got their side out. They have looked effective in the middle
and they've been able to get the reception in there.
So good at doing that is Bom-Bun Kwek-Bun.
Holds her form for a really long time. It's a quick left hand playing the ball over.
Right hand not giving anything away.
Lovely swing to take on the scene. Exposing the space available for the defense.
Korea making the mistake in their rotation and Thailand
inflicting the damage from it. Another point. Almost a two for one.
Well played. Found the gap in the block.
This is it. Thailand have got three opportunities from serve reception to win this game.
And they only need one.
Super swing from Phinpachaya Kokram. And it is Thailand who have put their plagues in the semifinals.
