Well, hello there. I'm Joanne, and this has relaxed for a while.
And it has been a very long time since I've done a face-to-face video,
so this video is long overdue, and I hope it finds you all doing well.
The reason I've been very busy, or one of the reasons,
is that I've been in training, and I am now officially a certified hypnotist.
And I was really excited to share that with you.
And I thought I would practice my hypnosis skills with you guys tonight,
and lead a nice, relaxing, and comforting hypnosis session for you.
I hope you like that idea.
Now, for those of you that may not be familiar with hypnosis,
hypnosis is a natural, safe state of mind that we experience many, many times throughout the day.
It's that wonderful state that you experience just before falling asleep, just before waking up.
It's that wonderful state that you experience when your mind kind of wanders off into a daydream,
or when you're driving long distances, and you arrive at your destination,
and you have no recollection of the journey.
That's known as highway hypnosis.
And so, it is a beautiful, natural brainwave state that we experience hundreds of times throughout the day.
It's a powerful tool.
Many people use hypnosis to help make changes in their life,
to change unhelpful, unhealthy patterns of behavior, attitudes, beliefs,
to quit bad habits, to achieve goals.
There's so many reasons that people use hypnosis, and it's a powerful tool.
Basically, it is a tool that is used to help induce a deep state of relaxation and inner focus.
And the reason that is, is that when you're in a deep state of relaxation and inner focus and concentration,
your conscious mind goes offline,
and then your subconscious mind, also known as the unconscious mind,
is more accessible and open to suggestions and new perspectives, new ideas,
to help bring those changes that you're looking for.
Now, unfortunately, there are a lot of misconceptions around hypnosis,
and that's probably because it is often used as entertainment,
and so there's a lot of misconceptions around it.
Hypnosis is not mind control.
You never lose awareness, or you don't go unconscious.
You're always conscious with hypnosis, and you're always aware.
You don't get stuck in hypnosis.
Even if you have to stop the session midway because you have to attend to an emergency or someone that needs your help,
nothing bad happens. You can't get stuck.
It's very much like meditation.
So just like when you stop halfway meditating, nothing bad happens.
You might feel a little groggy, but that's about it.
So there's a lot of misconceptions, but thankfully, thankfully,
there's a lot of medical research that's happening now with hypnosis,
and it's being validated and proven to be extremely effective in helping people with anxiety,
with insomnia, irritable bowel syndrome, losing weight, quitting smoking.
I mean, it's endless.
There's just so many wonderful benefits, and it's so nice to see the research being done.
So if you are ready to get really nicely relaxed,
then get yourself all cozy and comfy, and we'll get started.
Okay, so just take a moment to just wiggle around and stretch out
and just try to release some of the tension that you may be storing in your body as you settle in.
Make sure that you're nice and comfortable.
Make sure that you won't be disturbed.
So let people in your environment know that you don't want to be disturbed for at least 30 minutes or so.
And make sure there's a pillow under your head and you're nice and comfortable.
Maybe have a blanket close by so that if you get cold, you can just pull it up onto yourself.
Your body temperature tends to go lower as you relax.
And most importantly, please, please do not use this video or listen to this video
if you cannot give it your full attention.
So please don't listen if you are driving or operating a machine
or you're doing anything that requires your full attention.
Just use this when you can actually really enjoy the process fully and give it your full attention.
Okay?
Alright, so just settling in nice and comfy.
And we're going to begin with a few deep breaths, okay?
So when you're ready, take a nice, deep, comfortable breath in.
Hold it at the top for a mental count of three.
And then sigh it out.
And now take another deep breath in.
Hold it for a mental count of three.
And as you sigh it out, allow yourself to relax even more.
Good.
And then one last time, deep breath in.
Hold it for a count of three.
And then as you breathe out, really letting yourself relax.
And as you allow your breath now to just return back to its normal, natural pace and rhythm,
just allow the breath to flow in and flow out,
as this will help you continue to relax deeply.
And in a few moments, I am going to count from one to twenty.
And with each number I count, you'll close your eyes.
And in between the counts, you'll open them.
So it'll look like this.
One.
Two.
Three.
And so on.
Okay?
And you'll begin to notice that your eyes are getting very, very heavy.
In fact, it'll take so much effort to keep them open.
You'd rather just keep them closed and enjoy that dreamy, relaxation feeling.
But I'd like you to keep your eyes open just for a wee bit longer, okay?
And sometime before the count of twenty, maybe at five, maybe at ten, maybe even at fifteen,
you'll close your eyes and allow yourself to go into that deep, deep hypnotic rest.
Okay, so are you ready to begin?
Okay.
One.
Two.
Three.
Four.
Five.
Six.
Seven.
Eight.
Nine.
Ten.
Eleven.
Twelve.
Thirteen.
Fourteen.
Fifteen.
Sixteen.
Seventeen.
Eighteen.
Nineteen.
Twenty.
And as your eyes close down now, that feeling of relaxation is doubling twice as deep,
helping you go deeper, deeper down into that deep, hypnotic rest.
And now, imagine a wave of relaxation beginning to wash over you from the top of your head
all the way down, down, down to your feet.
And as this warm flow of relaxation begins to flow down like warm honey, it helps relax your scalp
and it smooths away the tension in your forehead and brow.
Your cheeks soften, your jaw loosens.
And as this warm feeling of relaxation flows even further down now, your neck and across the shoulders,
they soften and relax.
And you may notice how all the parts of your body are deeply connected because as your neck and shoulders relax,
you'll notice now that your arms relax.
And as your arms relax, your hands relax.
And as your hands relax, your chest relaxes.
Your belly softens.
And your back melts deeper down into the surface that you're resting on.
That's right.
Deeper down.
And as this wonderful, beautiful wave of relaxation continues to flow down,
your hips relax, your legs relax, your feet relax.
Good.
And as this physical body continues to become more and more relaxed,
your mind becomes more clear and focused on my words and on your relaxation.
And you can allow yourself to go to the levels of relaxation that you need for this hypnosis session tonight.
Okay?
In fact, each and every time you close your eyes,
whether for sleep, whether for relaxation, or whether for hypnosis with Joanne,
you will easily go deeper and deeper down into that deep, hypnotic rest.
Okay, so now in your mind's eye, I would like you to create the image of a staircase that winds gently down 10 steps.
And these stairs have a rail.
They're wide and well-lit and safe.
And they will take you to a beautiful, peaceful place.
Your inner sanctuary of comfort and relaxation.
And as I begin to count down from 10 to 1,
with each step down you take, the deeper down you go.
With each step down you take, the more comfortable and relaxed you will become.
With each step down you take, the closer and closer you get to your inner sanctuary of comfort.
So hand on rail.

Almost there, just one more step.

Deep, deep, hypnotic rest.
And as you let go of the rail, you also let go of the day.
And you feel very comfortable, very relaxed.
In fact, you can allow those stares and your everyday concerns to just fade away.
That's right, just further and further away.
Going deeper and deeper down into this comfortable, relaxed state.
And in front of you now, there's a door.
And I'd like you to walk through that door.
And as you do, you enter the most beautiful, soothing, dream-like place that your imagination has ever taken you.
A sanctuary that feels safe.
That nurtures you the same way the warmth of the sun comforts your body.
And it feels wonderful here.
It feels safe.
And you don't need to be able to see this place clearly in your mind's eye.
You know you're here.
Because of the feelings that you're experiencing.
The feeling of safety.
Of comfort.
Of rest and relaxation.
And these feelings wrap around you like a soft, cozy blanket.
That nourish you with a comforting warmth that is restful.
And it feels safe to relax.
And maybe you can notice a gentle warmth in your hands.
And a comforting warmth in your feet.
And a warm glow in your chest.
And a soft warmth in your face and around your eyes.
And a deep, deep sigh of relief.
Because it feels wonderful to just let go.
That's right.
Maybe you can remember a time when you were out in nature on a warm, sunny day.
With tall trees surrounding you.
A dreamlike memory of the rays of sunlight filtering through the leaves of the trees.
Where the sunlight soothed and warmed your face.
And in that dreamlike memory, you might even see leaves drifting and floating in the air without a care in the world.
And just like those leaves, you too can drift and float without a care in the world.
That's right.
You can drift and float.
Nothing to do.
Nothing to think about.
But this wonderful feeling of drifting down into this sanctuary of comfort and rest.
And now to help anchor this feeling.
You can either do this in your imagination or actually do it physically.
But using your dominant hand, bring your thumb and your pointer finger together to create the OK gesture.
This OK sign is commonly used by divers to signify that I am OK in these deep waters.
It denotes that all is well.
And so go ahead and squeeze these two fingers together as a way of capturing this wonderful feeling that you're experiencing right now.
Into this small but profound gesture.
So that from now on, even after this hypnosis session is over.
If ever you feel anxious, stressed or overwhelmed or just feeling emotionally out of balance.
All you have to do is join these two fingers together and these wonderful feelings will all come back.
Just like that.
So now, take a few moments just to fully integrate this anchor and this experience into the subconscious.
Knowing that every day in every way you are feeling better and better and better.
Feeling happier, relaxed and at ease.
So just take a few moments and allow yourself to integrate this beautiful process.
I will count down from 10 to 1.
And with each number I count down, you will feel sleepier and sleepier and sleepier.
As you begin the process of drifting off to sleep.
And as you do, you will bring all of these wonderful feelings with you.
And they will flow through you all through the night.
And when you wake up, every day in every way, you will feel better and better.
That's right. Every day in every way, you will feel better and better.
You will feel happy, peaceful, relaxed and at ease.
