The actual hospital is only a few stories tall and is a sprawling facility with hundreds of rooms, so my model is a loose interpretation of the front façade. I combined the aesthetics of the original hospital with the design of the Outland Models kit. Adding the freeze, pediment, and vestibule completely transformed the kit into a credible representation of the original.
I printed the back panel as one complete piece and am unhappy with the results. It may not be evident in the video, but there is quite a bit of banding, and the surface is very uneven. This is not uncommon in PLA printers and is a know limitation. I can print solid walls for the future, but I will only be able to do so as flat panels where I use the bed surface as the front face - it creates a fine, acceptable texture. I will have to add details in window frames after the fact.
The Oregon State Hospital was a fun project, and overall, I'm pleased with the results. Thanks for watching!
