Hello, it's Becca and welcome to The Carriage House, a little place to find comfort and
cozy inspiration for your hearth and home.
I'm in our guest bedroom in our little farmhouse on this early autumn afternoon and going to
be cleaning it and decorating it for fall.
I'm not quite sure if we'll be having guests this fall, but I wanted to go ahead and get
it clean and make it cozy and comforting just in case.
But even if they don't come, sometimes it's nice to have a little room or area of your
home where it's undisturbed and kept clean and away from the little ones if you have
them.
Just a little quiet and peaceful sanctuary, whether it's for simply relaxing and reading
a book or taking a nap or working on a quiet project of some kind.
But I did purchase a few new things for in here.
I bought new bedding, some new pillows, warm blankets.
It's been pretty challenging these past few weeks here at our home.
Sadly, my grandmother passed away and our refrigerator hasn't been working for about
two weeks now and our lab, she's really old and has a bladder infection that we're currently
trying to treat.
So all this combined with homeschooling and working from home, it's been a little trying,
but I'm hoping this new change in weather will be therapeutic and refreshing.
It's been kind of warm here though, almost like one last Indian summer, but I haven't
been able to get to as many comments as I've had in the past, so I'm really trying.
I am so grateful for each and every one of them and thankful, so thankful for each and
every one of you.
And if you're new, I'm really glad you're here too and hope that all is well with everyone.
Okay, so I'm going to make a cup of spiced apple cider real quick, just to enjoy while
I'm decorating in here.
Our one-year-old is taking his nap and the others are playing outside, so trying to refuel
my mama tank as much as I can before it gets crazy again.
So I'm going to start by putting fresh linens on the bed as well as some cozy pillows, chunky
knit throws.
I'm going to do all that first and then we'll move on to more cozy fall decorating.
I've been thinking of you for two weeks straight, I know that I need to get myself back in the
game.
Someone said your name had it turned around, suddenly you're there standing in the crowd.
Everything comes back in the blink of an eye, it's like you're mine, you're still mine.
We skip the small talk, cause you know me better than I know myself.
Oh, mine's been a while now since I saw you, but it feels like yesterday somehow.
Time has stopped, nothing's changed, we're the same.
And we skip the small talk, cause you know me, yeah you know me.
Like nobody else.
Wanted to escape for a while, I called a couple of friends and we went out.
But I never thought I'd see your face, I really wanted to escape but it was just too late.
And we skip the small talk.
It's been a while now, the small talk.
Skip the small talk, cause you know me better than I know myself.
Oh, mine's been a while now since I saw you, but it feels like yesterday somehow.
Time has stopped, nothing's changed, we're the same.
And we skip the small talk, cause you know me, yeah you know me.
Like nobody else.
Now that I've finished putting all the fresh linens, pillows, that little pumpkin blanket on the bed,
I'm going to add some fresh autumn decor in here.
And while decorating, I'm going to tell you a little story about how the carriage house,
the name of this channel, came about.
There's actually been a few people asking about this, and I really appreciate it.
But first I have these hutch doors that we took off our hutch in our dining room.
But the doors were just sitting in here, and I thought, instead of going out and buying more stuff,
I would just make use of what we have.
So I'm hanging up these doors on the wall just to add a cozy feel to the room.
And I use my pinking shears to cut just simple white fabric.
And I nestle the fabric inside the door using a few nails and cutting a few slits in the fabric
so it has something to grab onto.
Making everything a little cozy and making it kind of magical, so to speak.
But moving on, as far as the carriage house goes, I got the name from a little historic
real carriage house, bed and breakfast, that my husband and I stayed at
during our engagement in South Carolina.
And we have wonderful memories of that place, and that place actually resembles our farmhouse
that we currently live in.
So that little B&B in South Carolina that we hope to visit again one day
provided all this inspiration for our home and for the channel, The Carriage House.
I'm going to finish sipping my tea and turn a little bit of music back on
and finish decorating for autumn time in here in this little guest bedroom at The Carriage House.
