2017 Nissan Murano Platinum AWD In-Depth Walk Around and First Look

Hello ladies and gentlemen, it's Christopher here and we're in the shop of Collins Nissan, the address is 155 Scott Street and today we're going to be taking a close look at the 2017 Nissan Murano. This was redesigned in 2015 and Nissan has done very very well. So I'm going to be going through a few changes but they haven't deviated from the 15 This one is in a brilliant silver. As you can see it looks very similar to me like the 2016 Nissan Maxima redesign that they did. Very similar volume lines with gorgeous flow going all the way to the back. We do have the nice chrome accents on this pack of platinum package all throughout and we do have the chrome and black running rails which is just going to make it easier when entering and exiting. As you can see it sticking with the Maxima theme they did black out the pillar here giving the Murano a nice floating roof look adding to the sporty feel of this SUV crossover. So we do get the mirrors which are breakaway mirrors and as you can see it is a matching body color side mirror cap and we do have the LED turn signal indicators there. Right below the mirror is our side camera which is going to help using the around view monitor. Now I love this front grille that Nissan added. The Nissan signature that we're seeing in a lot of their redesigns is the nice boomerang style front grille and we do have the very large Nissan badging with the front facing camera there again assisting the around view monitor. So again Nissan is keeping form and function with these boomerang style headlights and you can see they are the Nissan LED signature headlights there and we do have our LED daytime running lights. Take a look under the hood of the 2017 Nissan Murano. So the power plan on the 2017 Nissan Murano Platinum is a 3.5 liter DOHC 24 valve V6 engine that's going to pump out about 260 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and it's going to provide you with 240 pounds feet of torque. It is a CVT transmission and it does include things like your traction control and your vehicle dynamic control and the Nissan direct injection system. The Platinums only come in one drivetrain the all-wheel drive system but in the S and SV models you can choose to go with a front wheel drive or a all-wheel drive system. It is the Nissan intuitive all-wheel drive system so it's going to automatically switch to all-wheel drive when you're slipping and sliding. It's going to include Nissan's standard five-year 100,000 kilometer powertrain warranty and three-year 60,000 comprehensive warranty. You also get three-year roadside assistance as well. Towing with the Murano because it is a CVT and the towing capacity is affected by that it's going to be able to tow about 1,500 pounds as the maximum towing capacity but with the CVT you do get a very good improved fuel mileage so this one does come with 11.2 liters per every 100 kilometers in this in the city and 8.3 liters per every 100 kilometers in the highway. So you sacrifice a little bit of towing power but you increase fuel economy. So as I said everything is flowing through the back especially the chrome and it connects to our boomerang taillights here. They are LED taillights giving a very aggressive sporting look. Now as you move on to the rear we do have our Nissan emblem in chrome right on the back and our chrome Murano badging. It is a power release trunk so you can open it up with the touch of a button and we do have this nice chrome rear bumper strip. Now again being a luxury crossover you can see it comes with these two dual exhaust tips to add to the sporting look. They are the square exhaust tips. When you go up to the platinum package you do get the 20 inch machine finish aluminum alloy wheels so it is a two-tone rim. You can see it does come with the rear skid plates there which is going to stop mud from spitting up onto the rear of the vehicle. So right on the key fob they did add Nissan's automatic remote start system and then you can see I have my lock unlock power liftgate button and panic button. The remote start system is very cool. One smart thing that they did in 2015 when they redesigned the vehicle was they made it so when you remote start the car the climate controls automatically adjust to make the car a comfortable temperature. Unlike my Altima where when I remote start the car it turns the heating settings to how I left it the night before. So with that said now let's start it up let's take a look at the inside of the 2017 Nissan Murano. On the door panel we do see we do have the nice leather inserts given that added comfort and our memory positions for the seat windows mirrors and locks and nice chrome handles there. As I step into the Murano you can see I can use my step rails there and I do have the Murano kick plates. Then I move into this very comfortable NASA inspired zero gravity seat. It is full leather with the white stitching throughout and it is an eight-way power adjustable driver's seat. The seat is extremely comfortable and you do have the climate controlling so it is heated and air conditioned. So it is a leather wrapped steering wheel. Our bluetooth controls cruise control are all right on the wheel and this one does come with the intelligent cruise control. So you can just set the distance that you want to be from the car in front of you and the cruise control will automatically adjust your speed to maintain that distance. It is a power operated tilt and telescopic steering wheel and that will sync with your two memory positions so you don't have to adjust the wheel if you do have multiple drivers. Advanced driver's assist display screen. You can see it is a very large screen which is going to show things like your digital speedometer, your compass, your radio, your fuel mileage and drive computer, fuel economy and your driving aids. So you can see there's a ton of technology that goes into this platinum model. When you go up to the platinum you do get the intelligent cruise control, the forward emergency braking and the predictive forward collision warning and then it's going to come with all the standard Nissan technology like your blind spot warning, your moving object detection. The interior is very soft. A lot of soft surfaces throughout this interior. There's two interiors, the black interior and the beige. I like the black and I also like the silver accents that they added all throughout as you can see. So when you go up to the SL and platinum models you do move up to the Bose sound system. This one has 11 speakers and it includes two subwoofers just giving you that premium audio sound that you want in a high-end crossover. Now let's take a look at the infotainment system. Nissan updated this when they did redesign the Murano. It's included in the lineup of the Maxima, the Nissan Murano. It's very easy to use and almost it's just like the touchscreen of your phone where you can adjust which apps you have where and then you have larger style widgets. It does come with bluetooth audio streaming Cirrus Satellite XM and the Nissan Connect apps as well as the Nissan navigation system. It does have turn-by-turn voice navigation so when you punch in the robot lady is going to talk to you and then you can also do things like your points of interest or I can save addresses, go right to the downtown core, find a specific on-ramp to help me with the navigation. I'm not going to get into too much detail because that's a whole other video but here's the Cirrus Satellite. Very vivid and you can see the channel icons there and thumbnails. As I mentioned before this one does come with the around view monitor and the moving object detection so if I have it in park or drive and press this camera button here it's going to turn on the forward facing camera. If I put it in reverse it's going to show the rear so let me start it up here and once I put it in reverse the rear camera automatically turns on and then as I turn the wheel the guidance lines adjust and then I do have the around view monitor so there's a camera on each side mirror and on the front and the back which is going to give you that bird's eye view of the vehicle. As well this is one of Nissan's high-end vehicles so it does include the dual climate control, saving marriages and keeping your wife happy so she can have the temperature warm on one side and you can be cool on the other. And then I do have the climate controlled seats down below and my push button start. There is a nice center console as you can see this gorgeous silver finish all throughout the center console and the center stack. I do have it right on the shifter knob and I can put it to the side here and select my gears manually if I want to drive it sort of like a standard mode. There is USB right in the center stack here to charge my phone or play media. So a lot of people's favorite feature is the dual panoramic moonroof. It is a massive sunroof and it does the tilt and will open up there so I'm going to open it up for you to see. Only the front one will open up to the environment while the back one is more fixed and you can't really see it but there is a bug and wind guard that opens up automatically here. It does come with a shade so if you don't like it you can barely see the sunroof and it is power operated. So you can open the sunroof only a couple inches if you want you can really stop this at any time or you can just have it completely closed. So moving on to the rear of the Murano you can see they added a USB connectivity for your rear passengers. They can charge their phone or also play songs right from the back and there is this nice storage holder right there for my cell phone. The two rear side seats are heated which I can control right here and I do have my ventilation for the back down below. Dual gravity seats are actually in the back as well so your family won't complain when you have to sit in here for a long time making those road trips a lot easier. You also have the armrest here and the cup holders and cell phone storage so everything that your passengers need and there is also some storage in each door panel. In addition I can use the tether here to recline my seat and they go back quite a way if I do want to relax and put close my eyes put my head down I can recline the seats. So it is a power tailgate so all I have to do is push the trunk release button and it's going to open up there. So here's a nice view of the trunk. You can see this one does come with our carpeted floor mats and our spare tire is right below. So one of my favorite features about the new Nissan Murano is that it was in the old body style but I really like how they flattened out the cargo area. It does come with the power folding seat backs so I can pop down just with the levers here and then as you can see I have a full flat cargo area. When I want to use the seats again I just use the power fold buttons here and bring them right back up making it very versatile for whatever you're doing however many passengers you have or if you are picking up those large items.
