Compact Furniture For Small Apartments.

I basically came up with the ideas of compact living and space saving whilst living in New York, which was the antithesis of space saving necessity. High density population, small spaces, high cost. So whilst living there I had a small apartment for many years and I had to make the most out of that space. Making beds turn into cupboards and loft beds, different pieces of that had a multitude of applications rather than just having things stuck in your home. Staircases have been around since the dawn of time and there hasn't been any really big evolution of a staircase since that point. Making them fold sideways and flat to a wall is probably one of the most innovative things of a staircase today, so I'm quite proud of that. I thought I'd just run you quickly through a couple of the designs that I'm also working on outside of the hybrid stairs. First of all you have the aviator chair right here. This is a luxury leather armchair. It's made from bamboo material. It's one flat piece of bamboo basically with the design cut into the flat piece which then enables it through these special types of cutting called kerf cutting and straight kerf cutting. Enables it to just bend into the shape of a chair. This is a chair that folds from a flat piece of material up into a chair and is fixed in place and becomes your luxury leather armchair. It's the revision two of the original leather armchair. This one is going to be a little bit uprated in the whole respect that it's going to be a flat into a chair and back to flat again version. It'll be able to be stored away in a small space when you have a little room. My favorite part of being a designer and the things that I do is probably actually being hands-on getting into the workshop and using the lathe and being on the milling machine and creating things from nothing basically.
