Recently, anti-Xi Jinping slogans appeared in Beijing. Its effect is now expanding. On Oct. 15th, it was revealed that similar slogans had appeared in the men's washroom of the China Film Archive in Beijing. Photos posted by netizens on Twitter showed that the washroom was covered with huge characters saying "anti-dictatorship" and "anti-nuclei acid testing."
Colorful posters of protest were seen on the wall. They read, "We want to eat and have freedom. We are against dictatorship. Save China!" and “Long live universal elections! The political power is in the ballots, one person, one vote for the chairman,” and they called for “another new national defense movement.”
2. 鄭州Zhengzhou is sealed and Quarantine sites are packed
On October 17th, 2022, Zhengzhou suddenly issued a notice asking all residents not to go out or leave the city unless necessary, and the city began a de facto lockdown, suspending production and business activities and requiring residents to undergo a nucleic acid test for three consecutive days.
One person posted a video online saying that the actual situation in Zhengzhou is well beyond people's imagination. His father was diagnosed positive on Oct.14th and was quarantined right there on the roadside for two days. There are no beds at quarantine sites and there aren’t enough transfer vehicles.
In recent days, jokes describing the recent Zhengzhou outbreak have been making rounds on the internet, such as "Zhengzhou Fright," "Midnight Bus," "Suddenly Missing Neighbor," and "Suddenly Missing Co-workers."
