According to media reports, North Korea fired two short-range ballistic missiles from the Samsok area of Pyongyang into the eastern waters between 6:01 a.m. and 6:23 a.m. on October 6th.
The first missile was likely to fly to an altitude of about 100 kilometers with a range of 350 kilometers, while the second was estimated to be 50 kilometers high with a range of 800 kilometers and was likely to fly in an irregular trajectory.
This is the second test launch this week, and the sixth in 12 days after North Korea launched an intermediate-range missile over Japan on Oct. 4th.
The 15-nation U.N. Security Council met to discuss North Korea after its ballistic missile test. China and Russia don’t want an open meeting of the Security Council, saying it will not help ease the situation.
The American ambassador to the U.N. accused China and Russia, the two Security Council members of protecting Pyongyang. China is North Korea's long-time ally and economic donor. In May of this year, the US initiated and pushed a proposal at the Security Council to impose more sanctions on North Korea on the grounds of its repeated missile launches, but it was rejected by China and Russia that month.
