Good evening everybody and welcome back to the vlog. Today is,
today for me is Thursday, June the 30th, but y'all are watching this on the 4th
of July. So I hope y'all are having a wonderful 4th of July.
Um, I figured I would go ahead and start this vlog in the evening. Tonight is
actually our last night at Vacation Bible School.
So I thought I would bring y'all with us. We were planning on having horse rides
tonight but that kind of got changed a little bit. That's changed around.
So Josh left to go take the horse back home.
Um, it still doesn't start for like another 45 minutes or so. So I'm getting
all the kids unloaded out of the van to get Millie
in her stroller. I'm letting her sleep just a couple more
minutes. I'm gonna get her out. Anyway, I figured I would just carry y'all
around this evening and probably into tomorrow and we'll just see how it goes.
Maybe, maybe even a weekend-long vlog because I
told y'all that my Monday vlogs are going to be
longer than my normal Monday through Friday.
Kind of like 10 to 12 minute vlogs. So anyway, we're starting it out
at our last night of Vacation Bible School and we'll just see where this
vlog goes. But if you're brand new to my channel, I just want to welcome you. My
name is Shasta. I'm homeschooling mom to nine girls
and here on this channel I just love to share our life
and homeschooling things, recipes. If any of that interests you, I would love if
you would hit that subscribe button down below.
Become part of our YouTube family and stick around. Anyway, I'm gonna get these
kids out and we're gonna head inside. I just unbuckled her but y'all look at
this baby. I hate to wake her up. Oh, hi Millie. You ready to go inside?
Say, can you give us a smile or no? Come on, let's get in your stroller
darling. All right y'all, so it is now the next
day and we are going to grocery shopping. I have
Natalie and Evelyn with me and then tonight I am trying a brand new recipe
that I have never cooked before so I'm excited to share that with y'all as
well. And what I love most about it, it's one pot.
It's all in one pot. We don't have to dirty a bunch of dishes so
I'm excited about that. I got my two helpers with me.
My little grocery helpers. They're doing so good.
Vlogging our grocery trip. What are we looking for?
Oh, there they are. Medium pasta shells.
All right, so we are back home and I'm going to show you everything
that I got from Ingles real quick. I will need to get a few things
from Walmart probably this weekend. My buggy was completely full so I was only
able to grab one gallon of milk which is fine. I think I got two out in the garage
but I'll need to get a few more of those for sure.
And I think diapers and wipes and shampoo I'll need to get from Walmart.
Anyway, I got this one gallon of milk. I got the Laura Lin
blueberry waffles. Those were two for five so I got two boxes of those.
I got two bags of plain bagels. I normally don't buy plain bagels
but I'm going to be doing some little pizzas for lunch one day this week.
So I got two of those. Loaf bread and then I got these
Hawaiian sliders to do our burgers on on Monday. I got some more cinnamon
raisin bread. Josh and I really like that for breakfast in the morning so I got
some of that. I have lots of K-Cups. I just got this
one little box. They were on sale so I just got that to kind of fill in.
Two bags of the Laura Lin potato chips and then for the freezer
or actually we're going to be cooking it this week. I got a roast. I got two packs
of chicken and Josh actually went to the meat store
this morning and got five pounds of ground beef and some sauce.
I got some more eggs and then I got some kiwi,
a bag of potatoes and then just some deep dish little pizzas for the freezer
and I love Amy's stuff. She has some really good food so I got one of her
little pizzas. So I'm excited to try this. I think I
may have actually tried it before. I don't remember
but I'm excited to try that and then I got some croutons
and then I got some of these peppers for our Mississippi pot roast coming up this
week. Some pickles, strawberries. I got some pepperonis for
our pizzas. Two bags of carrots and then I got two boxes of these
banana pop popsicles. The girls have already
took some on the porch and are eating those. I got three boxes
of applesauce. Some packs of muffin. We got the wild berry this time.
Two boxes of the Annie's mac and cheese. I needed some more cooking spray so I
got that. Some ranch dip for our potato chips and
I also got some instant yeast and just some active
dry yeast to make bread this week with my bread
machine. So I got some of that. I needed some mozzarella cheese and then
this is actually for our recipe tonight. I got two
two bags of the Mexican blend. I got some cheese cubes for the kids to snack on at
lunchtime. A bell pepper because I already have one
in the fridge and then I got some butter, beef broth, chicken broth and this is all
for tonight. I just needed some diced tomatoes with green chilies, tomato
paste and then cream of chicken is actually for another recipe and then I
got Millie some more of these little biscuits. She really likes those and a
couple of these little fruities. Little pouches, cheese and then bacon.
These were also on sale so I got two of the M&M cookies, some Velveeta cheese and
then Natalie picked out these the red, white
and blue little sugar cookies and then Everleigh had to have the dino.
So we got one dino and one American flag cookies. We'll probably cook these on
Monday. A big bag, another big bag of popsicles
to throw in the freezer. Some paper towels and then I got some
syrup over here and then the medium shells are also for
our recipe tonight and then I've got a head of lettuce back there
and that is everything that I picked up at Ingles. Alright so it is
dinner time and I am about to start a new recipe
that I've never tried. It's actually called one pot taco.
I'm actually going to be doubling this recipe since we're a big family of
course. I'm just going to be doubling everything but I'll leave the exact
recipe in the description box down below
so that y'all can check it out and all it's going to take is one dutch oven.
That's the only pot that I'm going to have to use tonight. Everything's going to be done in
this one pot. I'll show you. Alright so I've got my dutch oven now. I
actually bought this just a few months ago off of Amazon.
I love the way it's made. It's heavy. It's big. It's perfect like for a large
family. I'll leave it in the description box
down below if y'all want to go check it out because I just absolutely love this
thing. Anyway it calls for one pound of ground beef
but I'm going in with two pounds and I'm just going to be kind of guessing
at two pounds because like I said Josh went to the meat store earlier and we
always get it by five pounds at a time. So I'm just going to kind of estimate
Alright that's probably about two pounds. It may actually be a little bit more
than two pounds but we're gonna go with that. I hear you.
Alright so first we just want to brown all this ground beef and then drain it.
So I'm gonna do that first. So have y'all ever took a three and four
year old to the grocery store and come back with things that you
did not have on the list? That happened to me.
It was fun. I enjoy the time with them. Oh my goodness they get excited about
everything. We came home with dino cookies. That
definitely was not on the grocery list but
it's a fun little treat. I think we're going to do those after dinner tonight.
Alright now that this is brown I'm going to go ahead and drain it. Alright now I'm
going to add in one tablespoon of butter and let that cook for one minute.
Now I'm going to go in with four tablespoons of tomato paste.
Alright now I'm going to go in with some taco seasoning.
Now I'm going to go in with two cups of beef broth and now I'm going to go in
about a half a cup of chicken broth. Alright now I'm going to go in with a
can of Rotel. Well actually this one is the Laura Lynn brand but it's still the
diced tomatoes with the green chilies in it.
It looks amazing mama. I'm so excited. Alright now we're going in
with one cup of whole milk.
So now we have added everything to our pot except the cheeses and except the
pasta. So we're going to bring this to a boil
and once it starts boiling we're going to put in our medium shells
and just cook it as the box directs on there.
Alright so you want to make sure those are submerged all the way into the
liquid. You're going to go in the fridge. I'll
stick those in the fridge. Alright now that the noodles are done
I'm going to go in with about eight ounces of Velveeta cheese. I'm just
going to cut that up into cubes. Alright now we're going to add in about
four cups of this Mexican blend. You don't have to do this
though. You could just do cheddar cheese and then Monterey Jack
cheese and just do that separate but I just went ahead and involved it together.
Okay y'all so about these dinosaurs. They look nothing like the box. Okay they
had the icing on them and all that but the icing does not even come with the
cookies to icing them. So you have to buy that separately
and some of these I'm not even sure they really look like a dinosaur. I mean
that's how it turned out. Alright so it's the next morning and Josh got up
this morning and Saturday he made some scrambled eggs and
bacon. So I'm going to go ahead and get all this put away because everybody's
had breakfast now and not all of the kids wanted eggs and bacon. Some of them
wanted their cereal. But y'all last night that one taco
pot thing oh my gosh it was so so delicious. Everybody loved it and I'm
pretty sure several of them went back for seconds. It
was just it was delicious. So that's definitely one of the ones I'll
be cooking again. They were already asking me mama are you going to cook
that one again and Josh like really really loved it and
normally he's not like a noodle person. Like he's not big on noodles
but he loved it and he went back for either seconds or thirds. I don't even
remember. But anyway I'm actually about to go
downstairs and get the girls bathing suits laid out because we are going to
our neighbor's pool today all of us. So we're excited about that. We're going to
go about one o'clock. So I need to get everybody's bathing suits laid out and
get some stuff cleaned up and get ready to go. But once they come
in they can go ahead and get their bathing suits on and then we'll have
lunch and then we'll head down to the pool.
And while I'm down here I'll just go ahead and bring up their dirty clothes
to wash real quick. Camera's fogging up but we're headed to
swim. Are y'all excited? Yeah. Yes.
Okay go. Wow. Go Amy go. All right so we're back home now. We've
been home probably about an hour or so. I had a small Walmart order come in and
so I got all that put away and then I wanted to go ahead and start the washer
and wash more clothes because we all took a towel each.
And we have 11 people going to the pool but I had stuff on towels. So
I started another load of towels real quick and the little kids are outside
enjoying another popsicle. Y'all ignore my sink back there. We got a
sink full of dishes. We had lunch and just kind of
straightened up a little bit after lunch and then left to go to the pool and we
had so much fun. We stayed a good like we stayed about two hours I think.
So everybody's pretty wore out. So I don't know if we're going to grill
burgers tonight or grab something from Chick-fil-a. So Sundays is always our
eat out day but I'm kind of thinking since it's the 4th of July weekend
tomorrow after church we just come home and grill burgers and maybe get Chick-fil-a
out tonight. I don't know because Chick-fil-a is
closed on Sundays. I'm really wanting a grilled chicken salad tonight
but we'll just see. I'll ask Josh what he wants to do. So whatever I got my little
Walmart order earlier I actually ordered me a new little frying pan. It's green
diamond and I love the color of it. It's such a
pretty like really dark green. It doesn't match anything else in my
kitchen but hopefully I can switch to this green color. I really
really like that. Y'all I'm like trying to keep myself awake. I am so sleepy.
I'm so sleepy. I think it's just being in the pool and out in the sun today.
It's so hot because some of the other girls were about to fall asleep on the
couch. They were so close but thankfully they didn't because if they ever take a
nap earlier in the day or later in the day
like this it's so hard for them to go to sleep.
I'd rather them just stay awake even if they get a little bit fussy
rather than going to bed so much later. Anyway I'm in the fridge. I'm getting all
the things that we need for our burger. The mustard, the ketchup, all the good
stuff. Oh I want some onion on mine. So I'm gonna
grab the onion too real quick. Oh I've already got one
cut up. Love when that happens. I already got one cut up in here. I'm gonna use my
new pan real quick. I just washed it. I'm gonna heat up the bacon that
is from this morning. Josh usually likes bacon on his burger so I'm gonna heat a
little bit of bacon up in this pan real quick.
The next day it's Sunday morning. I just finished up getting ready for church.
Last night we had the grilled burgers which were delicious. Today we're gonna
eat out of a church though. I was trying to decide last night
whether we wanted to eat out or go ahead and cook and then switch it.
But anyway we're eating out today. I'm not sure what we're eating yet.
It's 4th of July weekend so Josh is off tomorrow which I'm excited about. We have
like an extra day of the weekend which is always exciting. Also I want to tell
y'all real quick that I have missed y'all so much this week. I've actually
got several messages telling me how much you miss me and my
videos and our family and I just want to say thank you. I miss y'all
just as much but I'm so excited to be back with you tonight. I have been
looking forward to this one video. So I hope that y'all also had a lovely
week. Y'all make sure you leave me a comment. Let me know how your week has
been. What you've been up to because I miss
talking to y'all daily. And normally I would close this vlog out but I think
I'm going to go ahead and carry you with me today too. So we're going to go to
church. We're going to go grab something to eat.
We're also going to go by the fireworks stand today and grab some fireworks for
tomorrow night. Last year I got the kids some glow-in-the-
dark sticks. They were like red, white, and blue. They
were super cute but I got it from Hobby Lobby last year and I know they're
closed on Sunday so I may not be able to get those
exact ones but I do want to get them something fun for tomorrow night to do.
I am making like this special like Hawaiian punch drink. It's a red, white,
and blue drink tomorrow. But anyway we're gonna get the fireworks
and some fun stuff to do tomorrow night. So I'm just going to carry y'all
with me again today. Alright so I know that y'all also love seeing like outfit
of the day kind of stuff but this shirt it's just a purple
shirt that I've had probably about two or three years that I picked up I
think. It was actually one of those like this
count stores if you have a Berks around you. I got it
from a Berks actually. I'm pretty sure that's where it came from
and it has lasted me. I've seriously had like two or three years
and then my skirt I got this past fall from Target. I don't even know if they
still have anymore or not but I love the length of it. I love long
skirts so it's long and I think I paid like 20 bucks
for it. 20 or 30 dollars for it. Like I said I got it back in the fall
and when I got it it felt too tight on me. I wasn't comfortable enough to wear
it. So anyway I'm finally getting around to
wearing it and Amy's got on her little maxi dress that she had on
a couple weeks ago. I told y'all I got these from Amazon
so that is actually how it fits on the kids. It's perfect so it shows her feet
but it goes all the way down to her ankles and it's super comfy
right Amy? So all the little kids are wearing their
maxi dresses again today. They love them and all I did was wash them and dry them
together and they did not shrink up or anything. They still look
just as good. So anyway that is what we're wearing today and we're going to
head out to church. You ready for church? Yeah.
Ready? Did you have a good week at VBS? All right we're gonna head out. You ready
cutie pie? Bethany's wearing her maxi dress too with
her little pink sandals. Did you find your shoes
girl? Yeah. Okay put them on let's go. All right so I'm back at home to change
real quick before we go out to eat because
in true mom fashion on my white skirt there is purple Kool-Aid.
Oh I don't even know if that will come out or not y'all. I really don't.
Um I was teaching children's church this morning and they had a little
Kool-Aid Capri Sun at the end and Bethany let Millie hold it and of
course Millie's gonna squeeze it and that's how I got purple Kool-Aid
all over me. I will. I'm gonna change. All right I'm
changed so we're gonna go now. Go get something to eat. Go get some
fireworks. It is extremely hot outside y'all. It's got to be like the
high 90s and the heat index is probably even higher than that. It is hot out here.
So we're gonna run and eat and go grab some fireworks and probably be in for
the next two days.
Millie say papa. Say papa. Papa. Yay!
