5 Garden Changes For The Better 🌴🌸💛😊

Hi everyone, it's Jeanette here from Enthusiastic Gardener. I am enthusiastic but not today because it's too hot so I might be able to do a few things later. It's a Sunday by the way, might be able to do a few things later when it's cooler. In the UK the hottest it's been since the summer of 76 and anyone who's as old as I am will remember the summer of 76. I have been pottering around because that's all you can do today is pottering and I have come up with some what I consider to be very good ideas and there are a few things that maybe weren't as good as I imagined. There's a one disaster which I need to explain, something that I'm not going to do anymore I'm done with, another thing that I had to persuade Richard for almost a year even. You think that he just does my bidding? Oh no, yes one thing that I've wanted for ages and we did it yesterday and he is sitting there saying this is fantastic. Well I knew that a year ago so I want to show you that. So let's start I'll show you the thing that I've wanted to change for over a year and I'm not kidding it has been that long. It's my table and chairs in the garden which are a rattan. I'll find a picture. I've wanted for ages to get rid of the table and Richard is constantly no no no no no we don't ever eat there. You can see it's behind me it blocks the garden view and I've really wanted some more loungy style chairs with a coffee table and he was absolutely no adamant no but now that is on Facebook marketplace for free. If anyone wants it they can have it for free. Obviously they need to put a tabletop on the top because what we've done is this. This is what we've come up with and it was for free, for free everyone. It has not cost any money at all because these four cubes here they slid under there so there was two under there and two under there so you could pull them out for extra seating. Well yes admittedly we don't have extra seating now but we just took the glass top off. They were the perfect size so now I can sit here and before the table came up about this high so all that view was blocked there of the garden and now you can just see all the garden and I just think it's it's more loungy and I like it. Right next thing is in the cabin. Now the cabin, the cabin has been a source of great concern. This is the thing that I'm not doing anymore. Do you remember in the cabin we had a grow light system which built me a beautiful shelving system. I had all the correct grow lights, the bulbs, the tubes, researched the whole thing. It's not for me. I've decided it's all dismantled. It's on Facebook marketplace for 40 quid which I think's a bargain so hopefully somebody will like it and want it. But the other reason was this cabin has been full of mould all the way along here all the way along has been mould, black mould. It's unhealthy and then one day I came in and this part of the ceiling had all fallen down and I think there's just no air in here and the fact that I had grow lights here it just added to moisture and everything. What Richard's done, he's treated it all with special mould stuff. You can see he's now put a vent in every single little section. He's repainted the whole thing and then outside here he's put, I need to get rid of all the cobwebs, but he's put another little circle vent along every section as well. So the next thing that I have made a mistake with and I'm not doing this anymore is this here my beautiful David Austin rose. I put it in this obelisk. I thought it would be a lovely idea. This rose has grown like seven feet plus tall and I thought wouldn't it be nice a nice flower fountain but if you look at the rose it's not fair it's not getting any airflow at all. I'm not doing it any favours. So I'm going to take it off. I've just pruned it so that's why there's no roses at the moment but I think that was a bad idea. So let's free the rose from the obelisk. Oh I just remembered that I put like tent pegs right down so I'll leave this bottom bit that's not going to hurt but look this poor rose it's had no airflow so that was a mistake. I think I'll move it next next spring because it gets too tall it needs to go to the back of a border somewhere but that's a good job and I can use this for something else. Look I've broken a oh sorry rose broke that off. Pretty rose very pretty it's a Olivia Austin very pretty. Anyway the next thing is in the same area isn't it funny I find so many jobs in just a few square feet. Can you see here that we come out of the cabin and there are the stepping stones well I just feel like the stepping stone should be here and it's just a simple little adjustment that I want to make. It does mean sacrificing one of my lobelias and those little euonymus there they're my spare ones in case any of these happen to die they're my spares I can tuck them tuck them back down there so I'm going to do that because it's been on my mind. I've only moved it a foot but it seems to make a lot more sense. One last thing because I'm going to give up now I just want to show you one thing that I did this week after work was my French lavender which you may remember was absolutely wonderful the bees adored it but it came to the end of its flowering life so I've trimmed it all I'm not sure if it will come back again. So I'm hopeful we might have a second flush of blooms this year now Richard is enjoying the new patio area and I've been saying Richard as you can imagine the things I've been saying in your absence how much you resisted you resisted didn't you I did you resisted I resisted my table and chairs idea I did I resisted I held out as long as I could a year a year and then I had to succumb to Jeanette's pleas and then I thought about it and then I said I've got an idea why don't we do it like this and now we love it we can see the garden and it's easier for Lottie and here comes Lottie Lottie can get up easy now come on Lottie yes thank you for joining us I think it's too hot now to do anything else other than relax just chill so that is what we will do enjoy the sun enjoy the sun thank you for watching I'm Jeanette I'm Richard enthusiastic gardener unenthusiastic have fun in your gardens take care and we will see you very soon thank you for watching
