This Is What Happens IF You TRASH TALK Giannis Antetokounmpo
I can look at his game and say he doesn't understand basketball yet.
He plays the sport.
He won a championship.
Cool.
He doesn't really understand how to be great.
Gilbert Arenas is pretty lucky.
He's already out of the league, so he doesn't have to back up his trash talk to Giannis.
I mean, can you imagine what Giannis would do to any active players that dares to say something like that?
Oh wait, some players did.
And without further ado, let's see what happened to active NBA players
who decided to throw some shade towards the one that they call the Greek freak.
So in late February of 2020, James Harden insulted Giannis in an interview.
Here's what he said specifically.
But I wish I could just run, run with seven feet and run and just dunk.
Like that takes no skill at all.
I gotta actually learn how to play basketball, how to have skill, you know?
Well, the next time the two NBA superstars would play each other would be in August during the bubble in Orlando.
And here's what Giannis did to Harden early in the game.
As he was running down the floor in transition, he saw Harden was the one guarding him.
I'm sure that at this point in time, either consciously or unconsciously,
Giannis was thinking of…
You know, but I wish I could just run, run with seven feet and run and just dunk.
Like that takes no skill at all.
Well, he actually knocked Harden to the ground,
ripped the ball out of the defender who tried stealing it,
and just softly laid it in like it was a regular Sunday afternoon walk.
Then after that, for the rest of the game,
Giannis followed the game plan that Harden laid out for him
and just ran and dunk, ran and dunk, ran and dunk, en route to 36 points and 19 rebounds.
Well, the next time these two faced off would actually be when Harden became a member of the Brooklyn Nets
and Giannis decided to prove Harden wrong.
I mean, first he knocks down a three to get the Bucks on board,
and then he pulls out a crossover step-back mid-range one-legged fadeaway?
Sheesh.
Not too long after that, Giannis went into an interview and said…
I'm changing the narrative.
You know, I don't want to be the guy only that dunks and runs.
You know, I can, you know, make a three.
I wonder what James Harden would say about Giannis
Anyways, the next story is about the 58th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, Paul Reed.
He won the 2021 Rookie of the Year in the G League,
made both the G League first team and all-defensive team,
and then on top of that, he became the G League MVP.
He isn't the type of guy to back down on anyone,
and that's exactly what happened when he was matched up against Giannis Antetokounmpo.
You see, as Giannis was running downhill,
he thought it was going to be an easy lay-in,
but Reed times the block perfectly and just smacks the ball away.
After the block, however, Reed shoves Giannis and has a few words to say.
Well, that was a big mistake.
Giannis wasn't about to let that slide,
and later in the game, when the two were matched up again,
Giannis puts him in the weight room and pushes him like a little kid into no man's land,
then throws down a ferocious dunk followed by a primal roar,
as if to say, this is the NBA, son, not the G League.
Anyways, the next story is on Anthony Davis.
This is what happened. Early on in the Greek Freak's career, in one of his blogs,
he writes,
Davis was trying to post me and I was using all of my strength.
I didn't let him. He turns around, shoots off balance, and scores.
As we are running side-by-side, he says to me,
As we were running together towards the Bucs offense,
I process it and think about it.
Dude, what are you talking about? You're only a year older than me.
Well, even though it's been years since Davis said that,
Giannis still remembers it in the back of his mind somewhere
because on November 17th of 2021, when the Bucs matched up against the Lakers,
this happened. First, he gets a monster block on Davis.
Then he dunks in Davis's face.
Then, when they were both matched up on the perimeter,
Giannis pulled out a few moves, then put Davis in the weight room,
and softly laid it in, in his face. Anthony Davis,
for that game, had 18 points, while Giannis, on the other hand,
had 47 points while going 18 for 23 from the field.
I'm sure Anthony Davis is never going to say,
you can't guard me, again to Giannis.
Anyways, next off here, we have Devin Booker.
You see, in a matchup in February of 2021,
the Bucs were down by one with just mere seconds remaining on the clock.
Giannis had the ball in his hands and ended up taking a mid-range shot at the top of the key.
He missed it, and just like that, the Suns won by one point.
Well, here's what Devin Booker had to say about that when he was asked by a reporter.
What were you thinking when Giannis got that last look?
That we're in good shape.
Man, imagine someone saying that they're in great shape when they see you taking a mid-range shot.
I'm sure Giannis took that personally because just a few months later, this happened.
Sheesh, guys. Anyways, if you thought that disrespect by Booker was bad,
wait until you see this next one. In a matchup between the Bucs
and the Knicks back in 2018, Mario Hezonja stole the ball
and ran the court to get a bucket. At the same time,
Giannis tried going for the chase down block, only to end up in a poster.
This was a great play by Mario,
but what he did afterwards really brought out the freak in the Greek freak.
After dunking over Giannis, Mario Hezonja stared down the Bucs superstar
and walked over him. Ladies and gentlemen,
this is about as disrespectful a basketball player could possibly get.
Well, that was it for Mario and the Knicks.
On one of the next possessions,
Giannis took it coast-to-coast and dunked it,
and Mario, uh, he didn't even try to play defense
because he knew that the bear was angry.
Yep, Giannis went full-on beast mode for the rest of the game
and scored at will. He ended up with 33 points, 19 rebounds,
and 7 assists. The Knicks did actually end up winning that game in overtime,
but Giannis looked at the calendar and smiled because it turns out
that the Bucs were going to play the Knicks twice again that month on Christmas Day
and two days later on the 27th.
Well, Giannis terrorized the Knicks in back-to-back games.
He was scoring at will and with force
and the Knicks knew why he was playing with anger.
Mario knew why he was playing with anger,
which is why he, he, he pulled two DNP in those games.
Yeah, that's right.
I mean Mario played the games before those Bucs games
and played after the Bucs games.
He just didn't want any of the smoke he created.
Anyways, here's another Knicks player that poked the bear.
Now, I'm not sure why Enes Kanter was getting into Giannis's face like this.
Perhaps it was because it's the second time Giannis was dominating him in the span of a week,
but he ended up getting tossed out of the game.
The box score of this game said it all. Kanter played a little under 15 minutes,
had eight points, and was a minus nine in the plus-minus department.
Giannis, on the other hand, led his team to a win
and ended up with 31 points, 14 rebounds, and eight assists.
Anyways, this next one is on Russell Westbrook.
Now, I'm sure that on almost every scouting report,
it says to allow Giannis to shoot threes,
but look at where Westbrook is standing when he's guarding him.
Giannis is at the three-point line,
while Westbrook is at the elbow of the free-throw line.
Sheesh. That's pretty disrespectful to guard anyone like that.
I mean, imagine someone was guarding you like that. How would you feel?
Anyways, Giannis hits nothing but net,
and Westbrook created yet another defensive low light for himself.
I mean, there's already a ton of them on YouTube,
and the list just got a little bit longer with this one.
