Welcome back to the channel. I am Justin B. McBride and we're in Wyoming. Isn't it beautiful?
Behind me, Grand Teton National Park. You're welcome. We're back. We have an incredible
camp spot tonight because we are here to photograph neowise, the comet,
and it's going to be incredible. I'm excited. Stick around.
So why in the world would we drive all the way up here to Wyoming to take a picture of a comet
that can be seen anywhere in North America, including Utah? The answer,
it's actually kind of simple. It's a redemption shot for us. A few years ago, when the eclipse
was here, we wanted to be up here in the Tetons to photograph and just experience totality with
the Tetons. But that fell on the first day of school and my wife, she's a Hermione Granger.
She's a perfect student. So we bagged the whole eclipse experience and we went back to school
and we missed totality here at the Tetons. So a few days ago, a buddy of mine posted an
incredible shot of neowise above the entire mountainscape of the Grand Tetons,
showed it to Hillary, and we said, this is it. This is our redemption shot. We loaded up the
Jeep, drove here, and now we're here with you. So hopefully we get an incredible view. I think we
will because this camp spot is better than our last one even. I mean, look at the sunset behind
me. It's incredible. So neowise should be out shortly. I'm excited. You should be too. I'm
pumped. So that sunset had to be one of the best sunsets I have ever seen. Hands down. Hillary,
you agree? Two thumbs up. Okay. Let's talk about the shot. How am I going to get this? The plan
is to do a panorama. So a bunch of long exposures that I then piece together later.
In order to do that, we're going to use my trusty old tripod here. This is a Manfrotto tripod I have
had for like 12 years. It is a tank. I want a new tripod, but it's hard to replace a tripod that's
so durable. You know what I'm saying? Anyways, besides the point, everything will be shot on
the tripod, long exposure style. So that's how we're going to do that. In order to not like shake
the shot, I use an intervalometer. This one's a wireless one, so it's in two pieces. I really
prefer wireless ones. If you're getting into astrophotography, a wireless one is way worth it.
You can have your camera on the tripod and set up your light, press the button, move your light,
light paint your scene, and you don't have to be right by your camera or running around in the
dangerous, dark, breaking ankles. Not worth it. So neowise should start to show up way up high on
the horizon and kind of move down this way over the next couple hours. I'm getting excited. I'm
getting nervous. I really hope it shows up. I feel like this is our one shot to get this.
We need this redemption shot, guys. We need it. Okay, you can't really see me, but behind me,
as the sun is setting and the sky is turning purple, oh, this is insane. This is B-E-A.
Beautiful, my friends. Nice and orange down that direction. Not a cloud. I think we are in for some
incredible stargazing. Okay, so this is the app that I'm using, and you can see right above my
thumb there, it says neowise, so it should start to show up shortly right in our view here.
Well, good morning from Camp McBride, where we stayed up till like 3 a.m. checking out all the
celestial bodies floating around the planet. Milky Way, incredibly bright last night. I don't know
if I've seen it that bright in a long time. It was really cool. Hillary has really never experienced
it like that, so she was just staring off into space quite literally, and it awestruck. Then
neowise, the comet, starts to show up, do its thing. I was really hoping to get a very specific
shot. I didn't have enough runway for the focal length of the lens I wanted, which kind of sucked,
so I may actually go out and try and recreate this like out in the West Desert or Salt Flats or
something before neowise disappears. So that all being said, camp was great. We've just took it
easy. We slept in. It's super easy to sleep in in the black tent. I really like that. So yeah,
I think we're just going to call it here and make our way home. So if you liked the video, please
