I was going bald...so I shaved my head.
Wow, okay.
I don't really know how to start this video.
I guess the easiest way to put it
is to just say that I'm 20 years old and I'm balding.
I'm sure pretty much all of you guys have noticed
over the past six months,
I've been losing quite a bit of hair on the top of my head.
As you can probably see, it's bad.
Like I said, it probably started about six months ago.
If you look at my videos from a year ago,
my hair was luscious.
If you look back a little bit further,
it was still super red too,
but it's neither of those things now.
Six months ago, I started getting comments
of people being like,
hey, yo, I think you're balding.
At first I was like, no, no, what are you talking about?
That's not true.
I've always had thin hair.
So I was just like, yeah, that's just my thin hair.
And these studio lights, I'm sure don't help.
So that's what I was blaming it on.
And then eventually, you know,
more people started commenting things like,
hey, you're balding, there's a bald spot, bald.
And then I kind of started to like realize like,
wow, I actually like my hair was not like this
a little bit ago.
It's interesting because like,
when you look at yourself in the mirror,
you only see yourself face on.
And from the front, my hair looks fine.
Like you couldn't tell anything.
But with recording myself being my profession,
anytime I ever like look this way or looked down,
I realized that, wow, my hair definitely is not fine.
I don't like to talk about it for obvious reasons.
It's a little embarrassing.
Most people don't lose their hair when they're 20 years old,
but I've come now to accept it.
It's whatever.
Hair is just hair.
I mean, it's weird because I've had this hair.
I mean, I've had hair for my entire life.
And it's just, I guess it's something you take for granted.
Past couple of days,
I've been trying to think of what to do
because obviously I'm not going to leave it like this.
It's bad.
In the past couple of weeks when I've been recording,
I've purposely been trying to record myself face on.
So you guys don't notice my bald spots.
Like whenever I'm talking about something,
I try to like just look straight at the camera
because camera,
because anytime I go like this or this,
you see my bald spots.
So it's time to stop.
Gingium is turning to baldium.
I pretty much decided I had a couple of choices.
I could either A, fight it.
I could, you know,
take all sorts of medications to try to get my hair
being a little bit thicker again.
So I stopped balding.
Or I could just accept it and go bald.
I chose to accept it for a couple of reasons.
Number one, I don't want to be spending hundreds,
thousands of dollars on treatment for my hair
for the rest of my life.
It's not a permanent fix.
So I have to keep up with it
for literally the rest of my life.
And treatments,
they take a really long time to start working.
Some of them have bad side effects
and I don't want any of that.
I just want to be done.
I can't wait.
So I don't have hair,
which is going to be in a couple of seconds
and I don't have to do anything again.
Showering, like, I don't know.
When I shower, do I use body wash on my head
or do I use shampoo?
But I don't have hair.
So that's what I'm saying.
I don't know.
It's going to be weird.
It's going to be nice.
I'm no longer have to look in the camera
and worry about showing my bald spots.
I'm excited.
I'm also really nervous.
Definitely, because I mean,
it's just weird.
It's weird.
So yeah, I'm balding.
I'm shaving my head today.
No more, no more hair.
Kind of sad, but that's okay.
Hopefully you guys don't unsubscribe
because you lose my hair.
Well, the funny part actually is Jin Jim,
the name Jin Jim,
the name for this channel came from my hair.
When I created this YouTube channel,
you know, three, four years ago,
I had really luscious Bieber hair that was red.
And I was like, yeah, my hair's awesome.
And I was proud of the fact that I was a ginger.
So I wanted the name of my channel
to have something to do with the fact that I'm a ginger.
So Jin Jim, that sounds cool.
Has ginge in it.
So hey, red hair, Jin Jim,
but now it's no hair.
Although, well, we'll talk about this after.
I just want to get this over with less.
Audrey, come on over here.
Let's shave this.
I'm surprised at how quickly it happened.
Because like I said, like six months ago,
my hair was fine.
Two weeks ago, even, it was significantly better.
And then it's just like,
I don't know if I'm going like super smooth,
like actually shave,
or if I'm just going to buzz it.
We're going to start off by buzzing it,
seeing how it goes.
And then maybe I'll go smooth shaven.
You saying goodbye to my hair, Audrey?
There's not much left of it, so.
Just get it over with.
All right, you're not going back now.
You should just leave like this.
Oh, I like it.
Just leave it like that.
There you go.
The other thing is like,
I've been trying to picture myself bald.
Like picture what I look like, bald.
And it's impossible.
Like you've had hair your entire life.
I don't know, I just like couldn't,
I couldn't picture it.
So we're just doing it.
YOLO.
It feels nice.
I like the way it feels.
But it's still relatively long though.
We'll see.
We might, we might.
We might just take the thing off and just go.
I'm liking it so far.
I can't really see.
I'm far away from the camera.
Maybe we should just do something crazy
like engrave a G in my head.
Although it's probably too late for that, isn't it?
Yeah, it's a little short.
The other sad thing is that
it was only at the top of my head.
But like that's the worst spot.
I mean, that's where everyone balds.
Like you never bald in the back.
Well, I guess you do, you can.
But, now like all my hair is great
besides the top of my head.
And that's obviously the most noticeable.
Oh.
Oh!
Oh, I could have become the Avatar.
I should have shaved an arrow in my head.
Damn.
Oh, I should have given you a mohawk.
Well, it wouldn't have worked.
We could have done so many cool things,
but it's too late now.
Yeah.
Right.
What are you doing?
I'm just getting it off.
We don't have a paintbrush or anything.
Stop!
I've not seen myself yet.
Okay.
Yeah, it's pretty short.
It's definitely gonna take some getting used to.
I don't have to care anymore.
Like look, I can point my face in any direction
and it looks the same.
You just turned the heat like way up.
Yeah, I'm cold.
I'm definitely cold.
It's a loss of insulation.
This obviously isn't shaved.
This is just buzzed.
So, I don't know, should we shave it?
You guys can tell us what you think.
Should I shave it completely or just leave it buzzed?
I kinda like it just buzzed.
I like it buzzed.
Cause it's still something there.
I mean, but you could still go and after a while.
Yeah, I don't know.
Just start with the buzz.
I think it's also a little bit more work
actually shaving it because.
You actually have to maintain it.
Right.
Is it just me or is there like a little spot right here?
There might be a little spot.
I'm not a professional.
Audrey.
It's kinda nice.
It's weird, but very, very pale, obviously.
Well, it doesn't really see much sunlight.
Right, obviously.
I don't see much sunlight in general.
That's that.
I'm no longer balding because I'm bald.
I'm gonna be trying to grow out my face pubes a little bit.
So it's not gonna look great at first.
All right.
But you gotta let them grow out a little bit
in order to get them to look good.
So you guys are gonna have to deal with me
for the next couple of weeks and having bad face pubes.
The little bit of stubble I do have, it's red.
So maybe we can still be gingium
if I can grow a red beard.
Here you go.
My family has never been good at growing beards.
All of my brothers can't really grow a full beard.
So hopefully I'm different.
Maybe genetics are like, hey, you're gonna be bald,
but you can also grow a sick beard.
It's weird.
I feel like my head is smaller.
It looks like shorter to me.
Yeah, no.
You would think that when you shave your head,
your forehead seems bigger,
but I honestly think it seems smaller now.
It's weird.
I don't know.
I'm excited now to experience baldness and all of its glory.
It's weird to think about that this is like, this is it.
This is my life now.
Kind of looks like there's a ton of little turds
on the floor.
Just cleaned up all my hair.
Bye.
Never seen you again.
So yeah, there we go.
I just want to say thank you to you guys.
Thank you to anybody who actually commented stuff
about me balding.
Without you guys, I don't think I would have,
it would have taken me longer to notice
because nobody I know told me.
Like all my friends, they didn't say anything.
I'm sure they noticed.
Audrey, you didn't say anything.
It's okay.
Oh really?
Yeah, see like nobody tells you these things.
Obviously my friends don't want to just come up to me
and say I'm balding.
But like, you know, sometimes I kind of wish
that would happen.
But you guys, you don't care.
You can just say whatever you want in the comment section.
So thank you to everybody who said that like honestly,
because you helped me realize that I was balding
and helped me encourage myself to shave it off.
And I'm happy with it.
I don't know if we're gonna actually shave it or not,
but we'll find out.
But I also want this to try to encourage anybody out there
who is young or old, who is balding,
that it's okay to shave your head.
Like it's cool.
As I said, thank you for everything.
And I hope you guys like it.
So I'll see you next time.
Peace out.
Subscribe if you're new.
That's about it.
Bye bye.
