And there you go, we got it 8.52 at 167.5 miles an hour, quickest production car in the world
by far, there's absolutely no competition.
I think the closest competition is actually Tesla Plaid, and it's right over there.
We wanted to race the two quickest production cars in the world, heads up, against each other.
So what does Rimac say about that? You think we can do it?
I'm game.
We're good?
Yeah.
Alright, we are on.
Dude, the car just freaking rockets off.
Man, once it starts getting moving, it really is like sinking you back.
So that's the quickest time that we've gotten in the last two days, and now it's race time.
Let's see what we do.
So I brought out the rented Tesla, and Rimac, I said, hey, I rented a Tesla,
we should line up the two quickest production cars in the world, and we got them here today.
That's right.
It's me versus you.
That's right.
You're going down.
I'm going to lose.
There is no chance for the Tesla.
I will say, I tried to cut a light on that last one, and it was terrible, 0.3.
So it might be fun to see you get out, and then me just pull all the doors off.
I don't think, I think you're going to cop me before the 8th.
Like by the 3.30.
Yeah, it's going to come by pretty quick.
Absolutely, absolutely.
You're going to pass me like standing still.
So what an epic race.
Two quickest production cars in the world.
Going head to head.
Here is the Tesla Model S Plaid with the ultimate host, Casey.
He's graciously let me rent the car and actually take it down the drag strip.
When does that happen?
That doesn't happen.
You might get a lot more rentals now.
Yeah.
You might have to approve each one.
You're the only one approved to take it since it's such a drag.
Okay.
Well, fair enough.
Maybe case by case, but they're going to pay a little bit extra.
They're going to pay a little bit extra for drag strip time.
Yeah, yeah.
So, okay.
We're going to camera up the cars.
Yeah, let's do it.
And then you and me are going to go for it.
Let's set it up.
Two out of three.
I think I got you all day, but it's going to be fun to watch.
I'm going to get you off the light.
I only tried to cut a light that one time, and it still was not great.
No.
Yeah.
Don't red light.
No.
Don't red light.
What is my name, Brooks?
Listen, if I red light, you might get a win.
Yeah.
So, maybe I should go for it.
No, no.
Because you're trying to go for a record, too.
This is true.
So, we want to see you go A5, and it will be great if it's against this.
Of course.
Yeah.
We could also get the record for the quickest Tesla down the quarter mile.
This is actually the same track that Jay Leno ran the time, 924.6.
So, we're also aiming for you to beat that.
Can you help me out?
I'll try.
So, we need the record for this, the record for the Rimac, and wow, it's going to be awesome.
Can you imagine side-by-side record?
That would be insane.
That would be phenomenal.
That would be insane.
All right.
That's the plan.
Let's go, Jimmy.
Let's do it.
All right.
So, inside, let's check out the state of charge.
We're at 100%.
It's 94 degrees.
We are going to get rid of anything else extra in the car.
Let's see if we got any extra weight we can take out.
Oh, we got to warm it up in Plaid mode, too.
So, we're going to hit this drag strip mode.
All right.
Here we go, Jimmy.
We got the Rimac Navara.
Can you believe this is happening?
Oh, man.
It's going to be epic.
I can't believe this is happening.
All right.
So, we discussed the staging strategy.
Yep.
You will see it happen in the video just to make sure everyone gets staged properly, and
let's go break some records.
Let's do it.
Okay, bye.
Let's do it.
First, right here.
I think you red-lighted.
I don't think I red-lighted.
You got out way ahead of me.
I think that's just reaction time.
No.
I don't think I was that bad.
No, no.
865, 168, 927, 152.
Yeah.
Let's see the slip here.
Draggy said 937.
Okay.
I didn't red-light, did I?
He red-lighted.
Yes, he did.
Stop it.
You red-lighted.
You're sleeping, man.
I'm not sleeping.
Fastest reaction time.
Look at that reaction.
That's not fair.
1452.
Great 60.
I thought you started early.
Uh-uh.
Yeah, we all saw you.
Yeah.
You did.
All right.
So, yeah.
There we go.
865, 166.
Wow.
Look at the traps.
152.6 for you.
I know.
That's moving.
That is moving.
And I think you got a better...
You got more in the 60 foot for you.
Yeah, I got another one.
And that's about my...
I can't believe that reaction time.
Listen, I'm not used to driving the car.
Uh-huh.
I'm going to go after the light big time now.
Okay, sure.
Let's do it.
Because I still won.
If I red-light and I lose...
...then I'm going to get you in the third no matter what.
What do you won by?
You won by 0.3.
Did I motor right by you?
Yeah.
Oh, my God.
By the eighth.
Yeah, I was just gone.
Like, I'm like, where is he?
Where is he?
He's coming.
Oh, he's still not coming.
He's still not coming.
He's coming.
Woo!
Oh, that was...
That was fun.
I think that's what caught me off guard is I'm like, God, how did he get so far out already?
I'm terrible out here today.
Listen, it's...
I got to learn the car.
I mean...
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, I thought...
I'm going to go...
Geez.
I'm going to try to go for a triple zero.
See if I can do a triple zero.
I think I did better on the light that time.
Here's the bad news.
I didn't red light.
No.
What?
Your guys' reaction times were the same.
You lost by a thousandth of a second.
But that was so good.
You beat me by a thousandth.
.09s.
.09.
Oh, he did .091.
That was almost an identical payoff.
I really don't like you, Jimmy.
That was impressive.
I thought I had you because I was ahead the whole time.
You never had to.
I'm glad that you woke up for that one.
Listen.
That's actually the perfect race.
That is the perfect race.
That's an identical reaction time.
Jimmy actually got me by one thousandth off the line.
Yes.
But honestly, honestly, I really thought that you got me off the line.
Like...
Well, yeah.
It's so miniscule.
Like, when you see it from my perspective...
Yeah.
That was much slower reaction time for me.
It seemed like you were ahead.
I mean, it's unidentical.
It was literally the perfect start.
Yeah.
So how far ahead was I?
I gotta watch the video back.
Oh, four on that one.
That was a good one?
Four cars, that's it?
Four cars, yeah.
Jeez, it should be more.
It's only...
You gotta think about it.
You said it was only four cars against a Taycan, and it was 20.
Last race.
Now I got you on video saying that.
The GoPro, you know, the wide lens.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You gotta count for that.
All right.
So even though I won two out of three...
Yeah.
I'm still gonna lose again.
Why don't we do one more?
Yeah.
Better this time?
Did I get him?
No?
Oh, man.
Jeez.
He's getting his reaction time.
He's being ridiculous.
You're trying to red light.
That's not fair.
Is it not fair?
Yeah.
Is it better?
Yeah.
Listen, that counts.
That counts.
You got me off the tree three times in a row.
I got a .07.
That's pretty good.
That's really good.
Come on.
All right.
So that is a wrap of rematch.
Navara versus Tesla Plaid.
The race everyone wanted to see.
Yep.
I think it went pretty well as expected.
I think...
I mean...
The gap wasn't as much as I think people thought.
No.
I mean, it's going from 9.3s to 8.6s, right?
Right.
So...
Yeah.
It seems...
I mean, I counted.
Like, I have time to actually count and watch you go by.
Right.
That was probably about four cars on that last one.
Yeah.
Now, the first run I had a bad reaction time.
It takes time to learn a car.
And I had to really go after the light.
Almost like I was red lighting.
And then we cut an identical reaction time.
That was unbelievable.
Down to the 1,000th.
You got me by 1,000th.
And then the sec...
The last one...
I mean, you caught a perfect light.
0.01.
I think I did even better for me at a 0.07.
Yeah.
So, we always like to battle out the reaction times.
Even though one car is obviously significantly faster.
I think it was kind of cool actually to see you get the jump.
Yeah.
And see how long it takes to pass you, right?
Like, in the first race, I think it was the best.
Because you could really see, like...
I was like, are you coming?
Are you coming?
You had, like, probably two cars on me.
Oh, at least.
And then he just...
Yeah.
Just like a jet.
Yeah.
I mean, it was just crazy.
So, these two cars...
Unreal.
What a pair.
You know, special thanks to Rimac for having us out to be the first ones to take it down
the real quarter mile with the proper timing equipment.
That's crazy.
These are the two quickest production cars in the world going head-to-head.
Amazing.
Just incredible.
So, now, we're going to do a couple of reaction videos.
Yeah, my first...
You're excited.
My first pass on the Rimac.
You go here.
Switch it here to drift mode.
Okay.
And then from here, you just stab it.
It will behave.
Yep.
Now, you put this back into track mode.
And then you put this over here into reverse.
That will back up.
Launch.
Go.
Oh, my God!
30.
60.
It's spinning at 100.
Yep.
Jesus.
