On August 27, the fact that Zhao Lijian’s niece was suspected of showing off her wealth sparked heated discussions. Lijian is the deputy director of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Information Department. A bank statement that she posted shows individual deposits of 53.84 million yuan, 8.72 million yuan, and 17.44 million yuan totaling 80 million yuan ($11.57 million) in cash in just one day. Currently, all posts to her TikTok account have been deleted, drawing public attention.
