The Buffalo Ranch! Lost Amusement Park in Newport Beach? Who was Texas Tiny?

The Buffalo Ranch is a lost amusement park in Newport Beach, California.
Rancher Gene Clark founded the family attraction in the mid-1950s . It featured a herd of Buffalo (actually Bison) , a kiddie train, Native Americans in full dress, including Chief Push-Ma-Ta-Ha and Geronimo III, the grandson of the famous Apache Chief Geronimo.

We talk to author Lisa Taylor who's book "Lost Amusement Parks of Southern California" chronicles this and many other "lost" attractions. She tells us about radio D.J. Texas Tiny who was a part of the overall promotion of the Buffalo Ranch and in particular their Buffalo Burgers.

After the Buffalo Ranch closed famed architect William Pereira made the barn and silo his offices for the planning of the University of California, Irvine as well as the city of Irvine. It was known then as Urbanus Square.
