Doomsday Challenge: Deep Sea Zombie Refuge Diorama in N Scale

Six weeks ago, two of my colleagues and I started an Instagram challenge called the Doomsday Diorama Challenge. The premise was straightforward - build a diorama in any scale or style based on a dice roll that decided your dioramas' theme: end-of-day threat and escape method. By the end of the six weeks, we had 16 participants complete some fantastic works of art in many different styles. An unbelievably good result!

My dice roll resulted in a zombie threat and a deep-sea escape, so I imagined zombies were walking the earth, and our survivors retreated to an underwater research station. The zombies were smart enough to smell our heros' freshwater supply and attack the underwater base by loading their corpses into barrels and dropping them into the ocean.

The key feature of this diorama was building an underwater scene without resin. There are some fantastic examples of the effects you can achieve with a deep-pour resin, but I wanted to use a less risky and less costly approach.
