Like I said, my name is Hannah.
And in today's video, we're going to be doing some home and home decorating hacks.
So if this is something you're interested in watching, just keep on watching.

please be sure to like, comment and subscribe.
You know, to hit that bell button for every time I upload a video.
And if you're not already following me on Instagram,
I would love to have you over at mom of muscle.
Without further ado, let's get into this video.
So I have composed a very short list of some home decorating
slash home hacks for you all.
Some of them will be a repeat from my original home hack video.
So if you guys are new to my channel, some of these will be new to you.
But if you have been with me for a while, some of these are going to be a repeat.
But they're just so good. I wanted to talk about them twice.
Starting with number one.
Have you guys ever looked at an Instagram photo and it's a beautiful living room
and they have a console table behind their sofa with a lamp and you're going, OK, great.
Most of us don't have functioning outlets on the ground to be able to plug a lamp in.
And a lot of us don't want to have a gigantic extension cord
going halfway across the living room in order to have the light be able to plug in.
So an easy fix for that is ordering some remote control lights on Amazon.
I got a pack of LED lights for 18 dollars on Amazon.
Everything will be linked down to the description box for you guys.
But this is such an easy way to be able to have that look and have it functional
and have it be able to operate as it's supposed to.
So all you have to do is just take that remote control light, pop it inside the lamp
and that way you can turn on the lamp without it actually having to be plugged in.
This can also go hand in hand if you want to do sconces, say next to a mirror
or next to some artwork, but you don't want to have to do construction
and hardwire those sconces into your wall.
This is a simple way to just mount the sconces there.
If they have a lampshade, pop those lights in the sconce and you can actually have it turn on.
So it eliminates construction.
It eliminates having a bunch of holes and unnecessary money spent.
This is such an easy workaround.
So remote control lights for lamps and sconces are tip number one on this list.
Tip number two will be a repeat if you have been with me.
And that is using cutting boards as a way to camouflage outlets in your kitchen.
So I absolutely hate outlets.
You guys, they are like nails on a chalkboard.
They're the ugliest eyesore to me, at least.
I hate looking at them.
So an easy workaround is taking some cutting boards
and having it go right in front of that outlet.
So not only are you bringing some dimension by bringing some cutting boards
to your countertops and giving it some visual interest,
but you're also camouflaging and masking.
Those outlets tend to be an eyesore for a lot of our kitchens.
So easy workaround.
But that is tip number two.
Tip number three is using a vase inside of a vessel or a planter.
Now, I absolutely love getting fresh greens here in my home.
It's super inexpensive.
It brings so much life to my house.
And it's one thing that I love having on a weekly basis here.
Now, sometimes I don't always want just a glass vase to house these greens in.
So what I will do is I will put my greens within a vase, within a vessel.
So that way your greens are still going to be fresh.
They're going to have the water they need, but they are kind of judged,
I guess, in a way by masking the vase itself within a planter.
So that is tip number three for you all.
Tip number four is a touch up pen.
Now, if you've never heard of these pens, you need these in your life,
especially if you have kids, especially if you are constantly dinging your walls.
These are amazing.
I got a set of two touch up pens on Amazon for a whopping 20 bucks.
And one thing that is really cool about these pens is they have a shelf life
of seven years.
So when you put the paint, your house paint or whatever paint
you are needing within these pens, they will not dry out for seven years.
Essentially, put your paint in these pens, put them in your junk drawer.
And anytime you have a nick or a scuff, you can take your pen,
touch it up on the wall and it handles it instantly.
Because sometimes, like for me, all of our paint is housed in our garage,
in a box, in the attic.
So it's kind of a pain to get up, get all that stuff out.
This is such a simple thing to just, like I said, put it in your junk drawer.
You have it close if you need it.
And again, if you have kids, if you are constantly running into stuff,
we are constantly bringing furniture up and down our stairs
and things get messed up, things get nicked.
It's just part of it.
And these make it so much easier to take care of it, touch it up,
because I know we probably have all been guilty of having a scuff on our wall.
And then it's just such an inconvenience that it's left for like three years.
I know I'm guilty of it, but this is such a simple tip.
And a simple trick to taking care of that issue.
So that is tip number four on my list.
Tip number five is going to be a repeat, but it is blue painter's tape.
Oh, my goodness.
You guys, blue painter's tape has saved me so much money.
And you're probably wondering what the heck I'm talking about.
But it comes measuring out items.
If you're contemplating buying maybe artwork or furniture,
I use blue painter's tape as a way to measure out the dimensions
of something I'm contemplating buying.
This is such a great visualization, especially for me.
I'm a visual person.
So you'll see in my example, my loft has been something
that I have been working on.
But making sure I buy the right size sofa, the right size side tables,
the right size artwork, I use painter's tape
to help me visually see what it's going to look like in my space.
I've done my fair share of not doing this,
and either it being too big for my space and it looking dumb,
or undersized and it looking dumb as well.
So this has saved me so much money.
And any time my husband sees that I have blue painter's tape out,
he knows it's either going to cost money,
or he's got a house project he's got to work on.
So he always laughs at me.
He's like, oh, great, the blue painter's tape's out.
What are you up to?
So that is tip number five on my hack list.
All right, and the sixth and final tip for this video
is going to be a game changer for some of you.
And I don't know why I haven't talked about it on my channel,
but it is using rice for decor purposes.
My explanation for this, if you've been with me for a while,
I know I say that all the time, but I
love to style with two different sized bowls.
I'll have a large bowl, and I'll have a small bowl.
And typically, I like to stack them within one another
to kind of give visual interest to a styling sideboard,
or a console table, or a coffee table,
whatever it is that you are styling.
It just kind of adds another layer,
and it adds a visual interest and dimension to a space.
But sometimes what happens is that big bowl
ends up swallowing that little bowl,
so you really can't see it all that well.
So where the rice comes in is you'll
fill that rice on the bottom of the bowl
and then set the little bowl on top,
giving it an elevation and volume
that it needs to be seen within your styling.
Now, this can also be a great option if you have a bowl
and you have maybe fresh fruits, like lemons,
and you are using it for a style or a styling purpose.
Instead of having the whole bowl full of fruits,
which could be wasteful if you don't plan on using it,
you can use rice there at the bottom,
again, to add elevation and to give volume to a bowl
so you're not having to have the whole thing full of fruit
or whatever it is that you are trying to style.
So utilizing rice as a way to decorate
and style your bowls and layering pieces
as a really great home decor hack.
So that is the last and final item on this list.
All right, you guys, and that is it for today's video.
I hope you enjoy.
Hopefully I showed you something you've never seen before
and hopefully you got some inspiration
for home decor and home hacks within your house.
Sound off in the comments which was your favorite
or if you had never heard one before.
I wanna hear it in the comments.
And thank you so much for all being here.
I love you so much,
and I will see you guys in my next video.
Peace.
