Illustration of a Jamaican Woodpecker by Becky James

Hi everyone, I've just been doing a illustration for our website because Cardinal's rewritten an old Jamaican story about a Jamaican woodpecker and we decided that we're going to do all our own illustrations as well. So I found a photograph and it had ferns in the background so I inked it first and then I coloured it and it's going to be on the story on the website. So I enjoyed doing it, Jamaican woodpecker, and I've not done anything like this before. My sister bought me these amazing brush pens, precision brush pens for Christmas. They're really great so there's all these amazing colours and they're like actually using a paintbrush. It's really great and then you can actually blend them. You get two of these and you can blend the painting to mix the colours so it actually looks like it's a watercolour painting. So that was really nice to play about with that and I use these ink pens. These are my favourites. That's my favourite actually, the 0.05. It's so fine. You can get all different, look at that little needle. I like that one. I've got this amazing light as well. This thing here so I can turn that on when it works and it hovers over when you're drawing and it's like daylight so that's really really easy to draw with. My favourite pencil is this. These are the best pencils in the world, the Tombow, the Japanese and it's a beautiful mechanical pencil and there you go. I just thought I'd share that with you all and hope everyone's okay and in between all the things that you're needing to do, hope you're finding a little bit of time to do something that makes you feel happy. Bye.
