Mei Mei studied music with Miss Liang Ping, who was a pop idol in the 1940’s Shanghai. Liang Ping showed her talent from a young age. At 15, she won first place on an audition held by Shanghai Century Record Company and signed her first contract. Her signature song “Wang Zhaojun” was a household favor for a long time. Now Miss Liang Ping is 93 years old. She was one of the only three singers of the Shanghai Century Recording Company who are still alive. The other two are Miss Yuan Min who is 92 and currently lives in Canada, and Mr. Jin Yi, 91, who still lives in Shanghai.
