This guide provides recipes and techniques for crafting 10 themed Halloween cocktails. The focus is on balancing \"spooky\" visual elements—such as edible glitter, activated charcoal, and creative garnishes—with high-quality flavor profiles, ranging from refreshing highballs and Tiki classics to complex, spirit-forward sippers.
Halloween cocktails should be creepy, dramatic, colorful,
but more importantly, they should taste good.
Trick or treat, home bartenders.
Today, we're making the top 10 Halloween cocktails
that you should be able to make
at your next Halloween party.
You ready?
Let's do it.
We're starting with the Poison Apple Elixir.
This is a wonderful Halloween highball
with sour green apple liqueur.
So we're gonna start with an ounce and a half of white rum.
I'm using Plantaray Three Star.
And then we want an ounce of sour green apple liqueur.
I make my own, so you can check out that recipe.
Three quarter ounce of lime or lemon juice.
And then we're gonna give it some green edible glitter.
I got these on Amazon.
They're amazing.
They make drinks fun and colorful and shimmering.
All right.
Shakey shake with your lightsaber into a highball glass.
And we're gonna top with some lemon lime soda.
I'm just using Sprite here, but whatever you got.
Garnish with an apple fan and a dehydrated citrus.
The Poison Apple Elixir using my homemade
sour green apple liqueur.
That is totally crushable.
Really nice.
Sour.
Not too sweet, but really sour.
Bubbly because of the Sprite.
It's basically an appletini with rum, not vodka,
but basically an appletini made into a highball
because we're adding the mixer.
Totally crushable.
Totally delicious.
Bright neon green.
Perfect for Halloween.
Great start guys.
Let's keep going.
The Witch Hunt is next.
A nice stiff scotch sipper.
Starting with an ounce and a half of blended scotch.
I'm using Isla Mist because it's a fairly inexpensive blend,
but it's got some nice smokiness to it.
Three quarter ounce of dry vermouth.
Using a local dry vermouth.
Love this one.
Don't forget to refrigerate your dry vermouth guys.
Half an ounce of liqueur strega.
You can use yellow chartreuse if that's what you have.
They're very similar.
All right, this is stir drink.
So stir away.
And into a nice glass with a nice ice ball.
Garnish with a lemon peel.
The Witch Hunt.
Putting this list together,
obviously Halloween cocktails are kind of out there.
They're colorful.
They're kind of spooky,
but you can't make them all really sweet, colorful drinks.
You gotta make some for people
who actually enjoy a nice stiff cocktail.
So this is the Witch Hunt.
It's got some smoky scotch, blended scotch,
but I'm using Isla Mist.
And then we've got liqueur strega.
Strega means witch in Italian.
So that's fitting.
And some dry vermouth.
Oh yeah.
The vermouth gives it a wonderful kind of brightness,
even though it's a stiff drink with a scotch.
The vermouth gives it a wonderful brightness.
The strega gives it a nice kind of sweet herbal notes.
If you don't have strega, you can use yellow chartreuse.
They're very similar.
That's really good.
The Eyeball Daiquiri.
Love this one.
This is a real showstopper.
So we're gonna start with some fake blood.
That's just corn syrup and red food coloring.
And get around the rim and let it kind of drip down.
We then wanna start making our garnish.
So we've got some canned lychee.
Gonna use some of that juice or syrup for later.
We're gonna stick a blueberry in the lychee.
It's got a hole in there where the pit used to be.
And then a little bit of fake blood around.
And there you go.
Here's your eyeball.
Okay, let's make the drink.
Two ounces of white rum using Angostura white rum.
And then we want one ounce of our lychee juice
from the can.
It's more of a juice, I guess.
Simple syrup optional if your lychee juice
is not that sweet, but mine was pretty sweet.
One ounce of lime juice.
Ice, shakey shake, subscribe.
Pour into your prepared martini glass.
The Eyeball Daiquiri.
This is one of the first Halloween cocktails I ever made.
It's basically a lychee daiquiri.
My wife's a big fan of lychee martinis.
Then I introduced her to lychee daiquiris
because it has rum instead of vodka.
And then the addition of lime juice
just makes it more easier to drink.
So this is just basically the Halloween version.
We add a little bit of that fake blood around.
Got the wonderful eyeball garnishes.
Cheers.
That's really nice.
I mean, if you've ever had lychee's,
I've described it as a perfumy grape.
It's like a very fragrant grape, basically.
It's very nice.
And it's just a classic, delicious daiquiri on top of that.
You can use a really tame rum
or you can use a pretty funky rum
like the Plantaray Three Star that I use.
It has a good amount of funk to it.
That depends on what you like,
but this one here is awesome.
The Devil's Soul.
Another nice stiff sipper for your guests
who like a proper cocktail,
not just a colorful sweet thing.
All right.
Ounce and a half of rye whiskey.
Half an ounce of Mezcal.
Gonna give it a nice smokiness.
Half an ounce of Amaro Averna.
This drink's got lots of cool, flavorful stuff.
Quarter ounce of Aperol.
And finally, a quarter ounce
of Saint Germain Elderflower Liqueur.
All right.
Give that some ice.
And serve in a nice stemmed glass.
We're gonna garnish with an orange peel,
express those oils,
and then make it look like some devil horns.
There we go.
The Devil's Soul.
Another more classic cocktail with good flavors,
but still just has, because of the name,
the garnish and everything,
has that nice Halloween vibe to it.
But this is another one for those guests
who are not just looking for a spooky Halloween drink,
but a proper cocktail.
Cheers.
Man.
There's a lot going on on this one.
It's rye forward, obviously,
because the base spirit is rye whiskey.
But then you've got some smoky agave notes from the mezcal.
We've got the Averna pops through,
and then a little citrus from the Aperol.
And then hints of floral.
There's only a quarter ounce of the elderflower.
Hints of floral.
It is a little sweeter than I'd like a cocktail to be,
but packed, packed with flavor.
There's a lot going on here.
Hey, guys, we are making the top 10 Halloween cocktails
that you should know how to make
for your next Halloween party.
This is The Devil's Soul.
Awesome drink.
If you're new here, guys,
make sure you smash that subscribe button.
Hit that little bell
so you know when we release new content.
And we do have a membership section
for people who wanna support the channel.
Every little bit helps us make more videos.
So check out that membership section, guys.
Otherwise, we will keep going.
We've got more spooky cocktails.
Cheers.
The Pumpkin King Sour, served in a pumpkin mug.
Okay, starting this one with two ounces of bourbon
using Maker's Mark.
We've got half an ounce of apricot or peach liqueur,
whatever you want.
Half an ounce of pumpkin spice syrup.
You could use pumpkin spice liqueur,
but you'd wanna add a little bit of simple syrup
to sweeten it.
And finally, three quarter ounce of lemon juice.
We're gonna do some orange edible glitter this time
to give it that pumpkin color.
Flippy move, ice, shaky shake like a pirate.
And we're gonna serve it in our skull glass
and garnish with a cinnamon stick and some candy.
Pumpkin King Sour served in a skull glass.
Oh, that's nice.
Very reminiscent of the New York Stone Sour,
which I did recently in my top 10 fall cocktails
because we've got bourbon,
we've got stone fruit liqueur, apricot liqueur.
You can use peach, lemon juice with a sour,
but the only difference is the other one,
the New York Stone Sour, we top with some red wine.
You could do that here, actually.
You could top this guy with some red wine.
It could still be very Halloween-esque.
Just, you know, it'd be like a orange,
you'd have the orange sour layer, pumpkin layer,
and then you'd have like a bloody brain layer
that'd be your red wine.
Yeah, this is just a nice kind of bourbon sour
minus the egg whites, but really nice.
Moving on.
The Black Widow Negroni, let's go.
We got an ounce of gin, an ounce of Campari,
and an ounce of sweet vermouth.
So basic Negroni build,
but we are gonna do half an ounce of raspberry liqueur.
I'm using my homemade stuff.
Just gonna give it a little activated charcoal.
That's gonna make it pitch black.
And then stir, stir, stir, and serve.
This is just a classic Negroni, gin,
sweet vermouth, and Campari,
but we're adding activated charcoal to make it black.
And then we're adding a raspberry garnish
to do that kind of that red dot on the Black Widow spider.
And because I like garnishes to not only be beautiful,
but also be representative of the drink.
So we added just a little hint of raspberry liqueur
to the Negroni,
just because we're putting a raspberry as a garnish.
That's really the only reason it's there,
but it's gonna add a little subtle raspberry sweetness
to the Negroni.
Oh, that's nice.
Yeah, classic Negroni,
but then a little hint of raspberry sweetness
on the back end.
Very nice.
Now we are using food grade activated charcoal, obviously,
but when I first made this one last year,
some people did comment that activated charcoal
can interfere with the absorption of certain medications.
So if you're worried in the slightest,
you don't have to use the charcoal.
You can get some black food coloring gels
from like Wilton or whatever,
and just swirl that inside of the glass.
You'll get the same results.
The zombie.
Okay, we had to add the zombie on a Halloween list, right?
So classic Tiki,
although this is the Trader Vic version,
not the Don the Beachcomber version,
which most people are familiar with,
but I figured we'd switch it up.
So two ounces of Puerto Rican rum.
Obviously use whatever rums you have,
but this is the one that,
these are the ones that Trader Vic recommends.
One ounce of Jamaican rum.
Of course, I'm using Smith and Cross.
And then we want some 151 rum.
Of course we do half an ounce of 151.
This is Lemon Heart Demerara rum.
After that, we're gonna do an ounce of dry Curaçao.
I'm using the Pierre Ferrand.
Obviously you could use any orange liqueur that you have.
All right.
Half an ounce of grenadine, homemade.
Check out my syrups video.
We've got an ounce of orange juice.
I'm not a huge fan of orange juice in cocktails,
but there's so much going on in this.
And an ounce of lemon juice, not lime juice.
It's interesting.
A dash of absinthe,
which is pretty standard in a zombie.
Give it some crushed ice.
We're gonna use the drink mixer to mix this up.
Serve in our awesome skull mug.
That's what makes it really Halloween appropriate.
And garnish.
Trader Vic's 1947 zombie.
Now I know that Don the Beachcomber
is the kind of originator of the zombie,
but I've made his so many times.
I like to mix things up.
If you want to know more about
the different kinds of zombies,
I actually did a video about that.
So you can check out that video
on the different zombies out there.
But this is the Trader Vic version.
It's not kind of the OG,
but it is still very nice.
This is a classic tiki drink, obviously,
but there's nothing,
so there's nothing kind of specifically Halloween about it,
but it is called a zombie.
So it is somewhat appropriate for Halloween.
Oh, I mean, like any zombie,
it's got lots of rum.
It's got 151.
That's kind of the main thing with zombie.
Any of the zombie recipes out there,
they all have a ---- ton of rum and some 151 rum.
So it is a very potent drink.
You still pick up on all the other stuff.
You get rum.
Trader Vic uses some Jamaican pot still rum,
so you get to use your Smith and Cross,
which I'm always a fan of.
So that's one thing that sets it apart
from the Don the Beachcomber.
The one thing I am missing,
I like that the Don the Beachcomber version
has that cinnamon syrup with grapefruit,
the Don mix number two or whatever it's called
with cinnamon syrup and grapefruit juice.
I like picking up on that little bit of cinnamon.
This one doesn't have that.
It still has that dash of absinthe,
which definitely, a dash, that's all it is,
and it does come through, which is nice.
But it's called a zombie.
If you serve it in a wonderful skull mug like this,
it's absolutely Halloween appropriate.
So go ahead, guys,
and make, whether you choose the Don the Beachcomber version
or whether you choose the Trader Vic version,
the zombie is a great drink to serve
at your Halloween party.
Cheers.
The Dark and Bloody.
A riff on the dark and stormy,
although we're not gonna be using ginger beer.
And we're starting with two ounces of spiced rum.
I'm using my homemade spiced rum.
I have a recipe for that, so check it out.
Okay, we're building this one directly in the glass.
Quarter ounce of simple syrup.
We want some lime juice.
Freshly squeezing this one, half an ounce of lime juice.
And then we wanna top it with,
I'm using a cranberry ginger ale,
but honestly, any red soda.
I originally made it with strawberry soda,
and I think I prefer that version.
Okay, give it a mixy mix,
and then we're gonna give it some red cocktail glitter.
Look at that shimmering effect.
Beautiful.
Garnish away.
The Dark and Bloody.
Basically a riff on a dark and stormy.
I'm using spiced rum instead of dark rum
to give it some of those fall spices.
And then instead of ginger beer,
I originally used a strawberry soda,
but you can use any red soda, to be honest.
In this video, I used the cranberry ginger ale,
but any red soda works.
Oh my God.
That spiced rum with the cinnamon syrup,
just an explosion of spices and rum.
And it's just phenomenal.
And this is really, really good.
I mean, somehow, even though there's a lot of mixer in here,
but I'm actually picking up the spiced rum
and the cinnamon syrup more than the soda itself,
which is remarkable, but it's not a bad thing.
I actually think I prefer the strawberry soda
over the cranberry ginger ale.
They're both good, but the strawberry soda adds,
because it's like, you're already getting a lot of spices,
but the strawberry soda adds a nice little,
a hint of strawberry to it.
But again, whatever red, it's meant to be red.
So whatever red soda you're using will work fine.
My God, that's good.
That is just a really good, refreshing highball.
Your guests will love this one.
Cheers.
The Corpse Reviver 666.
Basically a play on the Corpse Reviver number blue.
So three quarter rounds of gin.
I'm using Empress gin because it's blue,
but it really doesn't matter
because we're going to be giving this some edible glitter.
So it'll all be purple in the end.
I'm also using my homemade purple curacao.
So check out that recipe.
Three quarter ounce of Lilleblanc.
This is one of those equal parts cocktails.
So every measurement is the same.
Finally, three quarter ounce of lemon juice in the glass.
Okay.
Last thing we're going to do
is give it some purple edible glitter.
Like I said, these edible glitters are awesome.
They're all available online.
Get them.
They're amazing.
All right.
Shakey shake, like Boba Fett.
And then we're going to pour it into a Nick and Nora.
We did give that an absinthe rinse,
a little spritz of absinthe using an atomizer,
and then a gummy worm.
The Corpse Reviver 666.
So obviously this is just a riff, a little gummy.
Ow.
These are chewy.
So this is basically just a riff
on the Corpse Reviver number blue,
which itself is a riff on the Corpse Reviver number two.
So number two uses Cointreau,
number blue uses blue curacao.
I'm using purple curacao that I made myself.
You can check out that recipe.
They were adding some glitter to make it even more purple,
but it's essentially the same drink.
And my God, that's good.
I absolutely love.
This is one of my favorite gin cocktails,
the Corpse Reviver.
I mean, it's so refreshing.
It's one of those classic equal parts cocktail.
This is gin, Lilleblanc, orange liqueur, and lemon juice.
And then just a spritz of absinthe in the glass
just makes it really, really good.
There's nothing that really sets this one apart
from the classic Corpse Reviver number two.
It just, it's aesthetics.
We're changing it aesthetically
to be more Halloween friendly by making it purple,
but this is just a classic Corpse Reviver number two,
which is a phenomenal drink.
So highly recommend.
The Graveyard Old Fashioned.
So this one is more of a technique video
than an actual recipe.
So make whatever old fashioned you want.
I'm going with two ounces of rye whiskey.
I'm gonna use some Demerara syrup as my sweetener.
And then for my bitters,
I'm going to do some Ango.
And because, you know, this is the fall season,
I'm gonna do some of my favorite fall bitters,
the maple walnut bitters, but whatever you want.
And then what we're doing now to our old fashions,
we're gonna add a little tiny bit of activated charcoal,
just like we did for the Negroni.
And we're gonna give it some ice, give it a good stir.
And again, you can use,
if you don't wanna use the charcoal,
you could use some coloring gel.
Okay, there we go.
Into a skull glass,
garnish with some cherries and a orange.
And now we're gonna smoke it.
You can use a smoker top,
you can use one of these smoker domes,
whatever you want.
We're giving it some smoke
and it's just gonna look awesome.
There we go.
Look at that reveal.
The Graveyard Old Fashioned.
Oh, that smoke right on the nose.
Amazing.
This is more of a technique than an actual recipe
because you can make any old fashioned that you like.
You could make a revolver,
put some coffee liqueur in here.
You could make the apple cinnamon old fashioned
that I showed in my last video
about the top 10 fall cocktails.
I just made a classic rye old fashioned.
I used a bit of some fall bitters with the maple walnut,
but yeah, basically just classical old fashioned.
We add some activated charcoal to make it black
and then we smoke the crap out of it using,
I use the dome smoker.
You can use one of these little top smokers.
These electric ones are phenomenal.
Look at that.
Freaking amazing.
That one there was given to me by Smoke Pub.
Yeah, check out Smoke Pub.
Amazing little top smokers.
The thing about smoked cocktails like that,
the smoke really doesn't penetrate the liquid.
It kind of just sits on top.
So it aromatizes the whole drink.
So those first few sips, you're just engulfed in smoke,
but it does dissipate pretty fast.
If you want to keep tasting smoke,
what you could do is instead of a rye whiskey,
you could use an Isle of Scotch
and then you're gonna get,
continue to get smoke flavor later.
But especially using a skull mug like this
and then adding some smoke,
this is a great way to just embellish
a classic old fashioned for Halloween.
Cheers.
Time for a bonus drink, the Death Flip.
So a flip is a cocktail with a full egg, yolk and white.
So let's start with an ounce of Blanco tequila in this one.
We've got half an ounce of Jägermeister
and then we want half an ounce of yellow chartreuse.
Again, if you got that Strega bottle from earlier,
you could use that because they're very, very similar.
Okay, last ingredient is a quarter ounce of vanilla syrup.
Also part of my syrup video.
So check out that video.
And then as I did mention, this is a flip cocktail.
So we want the full egg.
We're also gonna add a little bit of grated nutmeg to this.
We're gonna put some on top as our garnish,
but we're gonna put a little bit in the glass.
Now, my favorite technique for shaking a flip cocktail
is using one ice cube, about one by one inch,
and then shaking the crap out of it
until the entire cube dissolves.
Beautiful, creamy foam, garnished with some nutmeg.
Bonus drink, the death flip.
So as I mentioned, a flip is a cocktail with a full egg.
A lot of sours use egg white.
A flip uses a full egg, including the yolk.
This is technically eggnog.
It's kind of like eggnog.
The only difference is eggnog has cream.
This one does not have cream.
Cheers.
Oh my God, that's phenomenal.
I mean, so it's very eggnog reminiscent
because of the creaminess of that full egg that's in there,
but then you're getting tequila notes,
you're getting a bunch of herbal notes
from the Jägermeister and that yellow chartreuse,
and then the nutmeg is adding a nice fragrance
to the whole thing.
But wow, this is a complex drink, a sweet drink,
and just, I don't know what to say.
This is just really freaking good.
If you've never tried a proper flip,
I mean, if you've only had like store-bought eggnog,
so you've never had like an eggnog with a real egg in it,
and you've never had any other kind of flip cocktail,
try this one.
This Halloween season, this is your goal.
This Halloween season, try a frigging flip cocktail,
make the death flip, you know,
and you'll absolutely love it.
All right, guys, we made 11 Halloween cocktails
that you should be able to make
for your next Halloween party.
Now it's time to rate these cocktails.
In third place, the poison apple elixir.
I don't know, I just absolutely love,
I love the green sour apple liqueur,
apple flavor and the sourness, amazing.
In second place, I am gonna give it to the dark and bloody,
and it is really freaking good.
So make this for your guests, guys.
Use strawberry soda if you can, guys.
Again, any red soda will work,
but if you can get strawberry soda, it is that much better.
And in first place, I'm surprised by this myself,
but I'm gonna give it to the death flip.
Maybe it's because Christmas is coming soon
and I'm more excited about Christmas
than I am about Halloween.
I don't know what it is,
and that one is reminiscent of eggnog,
but it, holy crap, is that good.
So there it is, guys.
11 cocktails that you should be able to make
at your next Halloween party.
Which one's your favorite?
Let me know in the comments down below.
Did I miss any?
Is there any kind of crazy, awesome Halloween cocktails
