Note: In this article, "Lemon" refers to Yu's supporters. In Chinese, the word for lemon (柠檬, níngméng) contains the character "Meng" (檬), which has the same pronunciation as the "Meng" in Yu Menglong's name.
The following is a message dictated by Yu Menglong:
I wonder if you've ever heard of content marketing?
Ariel was the one who told me about it: the idea is that by continuously producing rich, engaging content, you keep people interested in my case and maintain momentum — which is exactly what Yu En Transmission is doing right now.
This is why I keep transmitting messages through Yu En Transmission and producing more content about myself. It's actually a way of helping my Lemon darlings: it gives you more material to share, so you can spread the message and keep the momentum alive.
I believe that when you're out promoting the petition, you've probably noticed a pattern: if someone refuses to sign, then bringing up the petition again or sending them the link will make them feel, "I've already seen this," and they won't pay attention anymore.
But if you send them engaging content about me instead, they usually won't refuse — because asking someone to sign is "asking for something," while sharing content with them is "giving." The latter tends to be received far better than the former.
So when promoting the petition, you might try the following approach (I believe Lemons with a marketing background will understand the specific techniques better than I do — please help share them with the Lemon darlings who are working on the petition):
- Use the story of the persecution I suffered during my life, along with the information I've shared about the dark underground industries, to first capture the person's interest. For those who value objective evidence, please share the information about organ harvesting that already has solid evidence. See the pinned comment under the article “Yu Menglong’s Reply: Petition and Case Filing.” From the standpoint of universal human values, help them understand the true meaning of this petition: it is for the well-being of all humanity — not just for Yu Menglong as one artist in the Chinese entertainment industry.
- Find a way to collect their email address and name. Lemon darlings can then go home afterward and, using the email information they've left behind, sign the petition on their behalf.
- Since the petition requires email verification, Lemon darlings can follow up with the person afterward — share Yu En Transmission content you think they might find interesting, and at the same time ask whether they've completed the email verification. This way the follow-up won't feel abrupt, because there's engaging content to read.
- For those who aren't ready to sign right away, keep sharing Yu En Transmission content with them (using the email addresses you've collected). No more than twice a week is a reasonable frequency.
This is why I've added the petition link at the end of every Yu En Transmission article: to make it easier for you to send content and follow up on the petition.
Like water wearing down stone, drop by drop, one day when the conditions are right, there will be an article that moves someone, and then they'll sign. Because every article has the petition link at the end, as soon as one piece touches a person, they can click the link and go straight to signing.
I hope we can gather everyone's good and kind energy together — that way we'll accomplish twice as much with half the effort.
I hope the methods I've shared will make the petition go more smoothly. I feel this is the only way to truly honor the effort and perseverance that my Lemon darlings and casual supporters have given for me!
In truth, regardless of how the petition turns out — whether or not we break one million — your love and perseverance have already become my greatest encouragement and comfort! I hope my Lemon darlings will continue to hold onto kind thoughts and optimism. We are not attached to the outcome; what we care about is the unity of Yu's Supporters.
I know some Lemon darlings feel frustrated when the petition numbers get stuck at a certain threshold and won't climb any higher. That's alright. Because I know this is the result of the CCP's deliberate efforts to reduce attention to my case and suppress the reach of social media platforms.
What I value has never been the result. What I cherish is you.
Let's push our petition onward, toward one million!
