Now when Her-od saw Je-sus,
He was great-ly pleased;
For he had de-sired for a long time to see Him,
Be-cause he had heard man-y things a-bout Him,
And he hoped to see some mir-a-cle done by Him.
Then he ques-tioned Him with man-y words,
But He an-swered him noth-ing.
And the chief priests and scribes stood and stead-fast-ly ac-cused Him.
Her-od, with his men of war,
Treat-ed Him with con-tempt and mocked Him,
Dress-ing Him in a gor-geous robe,
And then Her-od sent Him back to Pi-late.
That ver-y day Pi-late and Her-od be-came friends with each oth-er,
For they were be-fore at en-mi-ty be-tween them-selves.
