President Trump is linking that growth
to historic investment from his tariff policies.

the Pentagon's top military strategist.
Allegations say he leaked classified information to journalists.

of fraud named by the Labor Department.
It's the first list of its kind.
One suspect is already caught.
Jason Blair with more.
This is NTD
Evening News.
Live from our global headquarters in New York City, here's Carrie Dunst.
Good evening and thank you for joining us tonight.
The U.S. economy just recorded its best quarter in a year.
President Trump now campaigning on that while
also weighing in on potential election fraud.
NTD's Washington correspondent Jack Bradley now joins us.
Jack, break all this down for us.
Sure thing, Carrie.
Well, the U.S. economy is growing faster than expected,
having the best quarter in a year.
Growth accelerated to an annual rate
of 3.4% in the third quarter, up from 2.2%.
Now, consumer spending increased,
and we have new manufacturing investments coming into the U.S.
President Trump is crediting his tax cuts
and tariff policies for this growth.
Here he is earlier today.
The numbers came out way, way, way above expectation.
Oh, you haven't seen anything yet.
It's because of the tariffs, because all these companies are coming in.
They're flooding America.
They're coming in from Europe, from Asia, Canada, Mexico.
They're all pouring in.
We have more car plants being built right now
in the United States than at any time ever before.
The president's also doubling down on his rhetoric about
the Alaska Democratic Senate candidate, Mary Peltola.
Now, Trump says that Peltola should not be allowed to run anymore,
following reports alleging that members of her campaign tried
to recruit a candidate with the same name
as Republican Senator Dan Sullivan to split the vote,
hurt his reelection chances and confuse voters.
The Peltola campaign and Democratic officials involved
in this deny these allegations.
They denied it in an Alaskan courtroom.
And after these reports came out
that allegedly linked them to this scheme,
they've also come out to deny that as well.
Now, here's President Trump on this earlier today.
This is voter fraud at the highest level.
And the Democrat candidate
who was involved in the scheme, Mary Peltola,
should be removed from the ballot and prosecuted,
and so should the fake Dan Sullivan.
This is a guy that never ran for office.
He never had anything to do with politics.
He just happened to have the name Dan Sullivan.
And the president's also weighing
in on a separate election dispute in California.
A federal judge there has just rejected the Justice Department's
emergency request to stop California from counting mail ballots tied
to roughly 20,000 people accused of being non-citizens on voter rolls.
The judge said in this case that the move would disrupt
the election that's already underway with millions
of ballots already cast in early voting.
And the Justice Department.
Has already appealed this. Here's President Trump.
We found 20,000, but there are hundreds of thousands of
I don't know.
bad ballots, bad votes in California.
Millions, in my opinion, millions.
It's a corrupt state and very, very corrupt elections.
And just minutes ago, the President
and First Lady holding a Halloween celebration at the White House
with a live orchestra handing out chocolate
to trick-or-treaters and their families.
And this weekend, the President
is attending more midterm rallies and tele-rallies
just a few days before Election Day this coming Tuesday.
Back to you, Carrie.
All right. Thank you for all those updates, Jack.
Next, a major leadership shuffle at the Pentagon.
Reports say War Secretary Pete Hegseth has fired
the Pentagon's top military strategist.
He allegedly leaked classified information on the Iran War,
as well as the Russia-Ukraine War.
Army Lieutenant General Brett Sylvia was removed as head of strategy,
plans, and policy on the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
That position is known as J-5, and its role is to develop
military strategy and advise the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs.
A Pentagon official tells Fox News
that Sylvia allegedly leaked information to journalists
and failed three polygraph examinations related
to those alleged disclosures of classified information.
Now, the Pentagon says in a statement today, quote,
the Department of Defense has zero tolerance for the intentional,
unauthorized disclosure of classified information.
It does not name Sylvia, but says the department took
necessary personnel action to protect sensitive information
and has referred the matter
to the Justice Department for further legal action.
Now, the removal comes as the Trump administration hints
at potential new strikes on Iran following the midterms.
And the Labor Department releases a first-ever list
of the 16 most wanted fraud suspects.
The 16 fugitives are accused of stealing more than $55 million.
NTD's correspondent Jason Blair has more.
Labor Department Inspector General Anthony D'Esposito releases
a first-of-its-kind most-wanted list.
16 fugitives are named with a total
of $55 million in theft accusations.
The alleged crimes include visa fraud, unemployment fraud.
labor trafficking and money laundering.
Most of the suspects are believed to be overseas in
Romania, Iran, Nigeria, China and elsewhere.
There are victims when it comes to fraud.
We're going to claw back that money. We're going
to find the fraudsters and we're going to put them
behind bars. One fugitive has already been caught.
A former FBI official accused of roughly a four
million dollar kickback scheme was arrested in Hungary
and is awaiting extradition.
D'Esposito says investigations are seeing
that fraud fuels violent crime.
When you're fueling violent crime, you also see so many of these people
that are connected to some of our greatest adversaries,
whether it's the Chinese Communist Party or whether it's Russia.
The biggest fraud case on the Most Wanted list
is an alleged $45 million Medicare scheme.
Josephine Tinibang was charged in a 33-count federal indictment
in Chicago a decade ago in 2016.
In 2016, investigators say her son's home
health companies paid him $1,000 a month to
...paid kickbacks for Medicare patients
and faked records to make them look sicker.
More than $3 million has already been seized.
And outside of this list,
other labor-related fraud actions this month include a North
Carolina man who got five years in prison
for using stolen identities to take about $2.8
million in unemployment benefits.
And two others were charged in a $19 million healthcare fraud
scheme that targeted federal workers' compensation programs.
Reporting in Washington, D.C.,
Jason Blair, NTD News.
And the Justice Department charging more fraudsters.
Today, officials announcing charges against
individuals allegedly involved in a scheme
to steal education funding from American taxpayers.
NTD's Arlene Richards has the details.
Top officials on Thursday announcing indictments
of five individuals involved in a large-scale
student loan fraud scheme.
In Nebraska, a grand jury has indicted Francis Mugambi,
a Kenyan national, on charges of
theft of government money and aggravated identity theft.
According to court documents, Mugambi allegedly worked with associates
in Kenya to steal U.S. identities, enroll victims as students,
redirect federal aid payments, keep a share for himself,
and send the rest to co-conspirators in Kenya.
Two individuals in New Jersey were charged with conspiracy to commit
fraud for allegedly transferring more than $1.3 million in illegal
money to individuals connected to a Kenya-based safari business.
Assistant Attorney General Colin
MacDonald explains how the scheme works.
First, criminals steal the identities of real Americans.
They specifically target Americans who haven't attended college.
They use those stolen identities to create ghost students
to apply to colleges across the country.
Next, they apply for federal student aid using
those same stolen identities.
And if successful at duping the Department of Education,
Ed then sends the aid money to the college where
the ghost student is enrolled.
After tuition and fees are deducted,
the leftover federal funds are deposited directly
into bank accounts controlled by fraudsters.
And in a flash, the money vanishes.
And the methods are becoming increasingly sophisticated,
with some creating the appearance
of a fake student in an online classroom,
keeping the ghost student in school for as long as possible,
stealing money from the taxpayer.
Investigators believe fraudsters have
been submitting thousands of applications
since at least 2021,
potentially reaching several hundred million dollars lost.
In California,
Nearly one-third of community college applications submitted
in 2024 were reportedly flagged as fraudulent.
But lost dollars do not tell the complete story.
The complete story includes the plight of an American citizen
who graduated high school
and went straight to work to provide for his family.
He never applied to college, he never enrolled in classes,
and he never asked for federal student aid.
But one day, he finds his name attached to a loan
from a school hundreds or thousands of miles away.
He says the taxpayer's identity was stolen
and he received the bill for the education.
The investigation is called Operation Ghostbusters.
This investigation began with agents at the FBI Richmond field office
and prosecutors right here at the Eastern District of Virginia.
It has now expanded nationwide.
There are more than 40 open cases across 26 FBI field offices
and more than 20 U.S. attorneys' offices resolved to stop this scam.
The team has seized more than $750,000
in cryptocurrency tied to the scheme.
And they are working with the Department of Education to identify
and shut off fraudulent accounts
to stop money from going to the fraudsters.
Arlene Richards, NTD News.
And officials are investigating what could be a major data breach.
A group of hackers says it has broken
into a database containing personal and work-related
information on more than 41,000 Department
of Homeland Security employees and then published
that data online.
The leaked data reportedly includes names,
phone numbers, email addresses, as well as
job details from several agencies,
including ICE and Customs and Border Protection.
The database reportedly includes more than
21,000 Border Patrol personnel and more than
6,000 ICE agents.
The data also supposedly reveals job assignments linked
to sensitive work, which includes surveillance,
special ops, and undercover investigation.
Now, the nonprofit data transparency group Distributed Denial
of Secrets says that the
data came from an entity calling itself the Department of Peace,
though the full data
set has not been independently verified.
Now, in an email to NTD, the Department
of Homeland Security said it is aware of a potential
breach and it is actively working to address
the situation swiftly and effectively.
The department says it takes all security threats
against employees and officers seriously,
and it will work to ensure that all are properly protected.
And GOP Senate nominee Ken Paxton continues
his campaign blitz across Texas,
and voters are turning out to his rallies to hear what he has to say.
NTD's Fiona Gee is still
on the ground there in the Lone Star State.
There she is.
Fiona, what is going on today?
Hey, Carrie. Today, I am in Beaumont, Texas.
We're on the east side of the state,
right across the border from Louisiana, actually.
And I think you can tell it is a beautiful day
out here today. Nothing like that rainy day
in Corpus Christi a couple of days ago. But we're
waiting for doors to open.
People are already starting to trickle in, lining up right behind
the camera. You can't see, but there's already a long line of cars,
and I'm starting to see people
Waiting for doors open.
We're going to be in this airplane hangar today. Yesterday, if you're
You remember we were in that brisket restaurant.
And really, it's really interesting to see out here.
You know, people are excited.
I'm here with Elaine Henderson.
She's the immediate former president
of the Golden Triangle Republican Women.
Elaine, great having you here today.
Tell us more.
How are you feeling being out here today on this lovely day?
I feel great.
And I'm so glad that General Paxton is coming to see us one more time.
He's been here a couple of times at some events.
And we are excited that a lot of other people are going
to get to come hear him and then go vote for him.
And what are you hearing from your fellow Texans?
Are they excited to be out here and voting?
They are excited to be out here and voting. We've had
a great voter turnout here in Jefferson County, and we are so excited.
We think that means we have more Republicans.
So you've been seeing more early voters this time around?
A lot more.
Why is that?
I just think that people are more interested, and I think
that the bigger numbers mean that we have some Republicans coming out.
I think that means good news for all of Texas.
All right. Well, Elaine, I'm sure more people will be coming in soon.
It's going to be really exciting to see
if it's anything like what we saw yesterday, Carrie.
It's going to be fun. It's going to be noisy. It's going to be rowdy.
But, Carrie, back to you.
All right. Well, Fiona, brisket restaurant yesterday.
Today, Paxton at an airport hangar.
So what is the Republican strategy here on the ground?
Well, you know, that's a good question, Carrie.
I'm here with Brian Markland.
He's actually the chair of the Jefferson County Republican Party.
And he was telling me, you know, this area is interesting because,
Brian, Jefferson County, it's purple.
It's very split.
It's been that way for a while now.
As Elaine said, we've got great voter turnout this time.
We've already had.
more vote, a bigger voter turnout than all
of the last primary election during early voting and the
and and Election Day altogether.
And we still have today to add into the numbers tomorrow.
And then, of course, Election Day on Tuesday.
Why are we seeing this higher early voting turnout?
I think it's a it's a higher interest.
I think people are really seeing, you know,
who they want to vote for.
And in our book, I believe that that's that's because they don't
want I think even the you know,
your your moderate Democrats and people in the middle, I think the
The left has just moved too far away from them,
and they wanted to keep more in the middle,
and I think that's just too far left, Paxton's opponent in particular.
To that point, what do Texans want to see from their lawmakers
when it comes to policies and, you know, protecting Texan culture?
Yeah, they want to see, we want to see, you know,
Texas values, you know, faith, family, freedom,
everything kind of coalesces around that.
We've got good, strong schools here,
good, strong families in this area.
Great, great jobs, great,
great work ethic from everybody that's around here.
And we want to keep that going.
We don't want to, we don't want to become California.
We don't want to become, you know,
You know, some of these other states
that have just kind of gone too far in the other
direction.
So speaking to our audience out there,
you know, what would you say to those Americans
who are debating maybe sitting this one out
or maybe not coming out to vote?
I would say do not sit this one out, people get tired
of hearing this is the most important election of your life.
But I think it is a very important election for us,
not just for Jefferson County.
We have four contested races as well, the US level, of course.
We've got Paxton running and his opponent.
We've got America needs to come together
and make the correct decision voting this year.
All right. Well said, Brian Markland. Thank you very much.
Well, Carrie, there you go.
We're still waiting, as I said, for doors to open.
And hopefully later on,
I could give you a look at Ken Paxton's tour bus in there.
I think that'll be a bit of a treat for our audience members.
But like I said.
High, high emotions out here. Lots of excitement.
And I will keep you updated. Carrie, back to you.
All right. Well, Paxton, Talarico, one of the key matchups.
We'll know more by next Tuesday.
Thank you for keeping us updated.

Welcome back to NTD Evening News. I'm Cary Dunst.
The FBI and ICE will not have anyone monitoring voting locations during
the upcoming midterms.
That's according to a Justice Department court filing from yesterday.
The department plans to send 1,000 monitors
to polling places across all 50 states.
It has used the practice for years to watch
for violations of federal voting law.
Their job is only to observe
and report potential violations of federal law,
which the department would review after Election Day.
Now, the monitors will include employees from the DEA,
the Federal Bureau of Prisons, and the ATF.
They won't be allowed to carry guns.
and they are limited to observing and taking notes only.
And with just five days until Tuesday's midterm election day,
the Justice Department has charged 18 more non-citizens
with illegally voting
in North Carolina's 2024 election.
Now, the announcement brings
the state's total to 30 defendants this year.
Prosecutors say some of the alleged violations go back decades.
One green card holder is accused of voting in 12
general elections going all the way back to 2000.
Another allegedly participated
in nine general elections and nine primaries
going back to 2008.
Now, the cases raise questions about how ineligible voters
could remain on the voter rolls for years.
The latest charges follow Monday's DOJ announcement
involving 48 non-citizens across five other states.
Those states include California and New
York. The defendants are presumed innocent unless they
are proven guilty in a court of law, of course.
And in New Hampshire yesterday evening,
Senate candidates faced off in their final debate.
Like other debates in pivotal races,
affordability was very much in focus.
Democrat Representative Chris Pappas,
he's attributing the rising costs to President Trump's policies.
While former Republican Senator John Sununu, he argued Americans
are still feeling the effects of Biden-era policies.
From the war in the Middle East and high gas and diesel costs
to the tariffs that are applied to everything that we need.
That's why I've introduced legislation
to exempt small businesses from tariffs.
Under Joe Biden, prices went up 20 percent,
9 percent in one year, the highest inflation since the 70s.
Chris Pappas voted for the Inflation Acceleration Act
that drove that to such sky-high limits.
Now, Senator Sununu talked about this war.
He cheered it on from the beginning.
He called it a success in June. He said the war was important,
that the objectives were clear at the very beginning.
Now he's changing his tune a few days before the election.
I've been very consistent. I've always opposed boots on the ground.
Chris exaggerates.
This is a position I took here on close-up months and months ago.
So I've never hesitated to stand up
when I think it's right for New Hampshire.
Equally important, that's what I did
when I served in Congress and the Senate.
Both candidates seeking to win over swing voters
and independents, which makes up a
substantial amount of New Hampshire voters.
They also pulled on their past experience.
Pappas is saying he represents a new generation of leadership.
Sununu, meanwhile, branding himself as one
who knows how to shake up Washington.
President Trump has not appeared
to campaign in New Hampshire for Sununu.
This is a race considered by Cook Political Report to lean Democrat,
but it's not solid blue.
So Republicans do.
Do you have a fighting chance in this one?
And California's high speed rail project
faces another roadblock.
The CEO of the rail authority has left his post
to focus on other priorities.
The project has been facing delays
and an ever growing budget issue.
NTD's David Lam with more.
The head of California's high-speed
rail authority resigned late Wednesday.
CEO Ian Choudhury said he needs to focus on important personal
and family priorities,
according to CalMatters. Choudhury had led the agency since 2024.
In 2008, California voters
approved a $10 billion bond to build a high-speed rail by 2020.
It aimed to transport people between
San Francisco and Los Angeles in under three hours.
A distance of roughly 400 miles,
but it faced project delays to 2040 and the expected budget
has more than doubled from $45 billion to between $120
and $230 billion.
In July, the Inspector General
of California High Speed Rail warned that the train agency
could run out of cash by December 2027,
calling for transparency to help his audit of the agency.
Also give me, my office, access to higher level job classifications
that other state agencies are using.
Those two things will allow me to produce more timely,
effective investigations and reviews of the project.
Last month, investigators found that the rail agency's consultants
misused $600,000 in taxpayer money on questionable premium travel,
including flying first class and visiting a nightclub.
Joe Stephenshaw, who has led California's Department
of Finance since 2022, will replace the CEO.
California's gubernatorial candidates both have
their reservations on the rail project.
Democratic candidate Javier Becerra says he will scrap
the current configuration and complete the project.
Republican Steve Hilton says he will stop funding
the project unless it complies with the law.
David Lam, NTD News, California.
And coming up, Alaska's governor is launching
an investigation into a controversial campaign
tactic in the Senate race.
We talk with a former assistant attorney general at the Department of
Justice. And Venezuela's opposition leader says
the U.S. wants the country to have presidential
elections next year.
Venezuela's acting president says elections will be held.

Welcome back to NTD Evening News. I'm Cary Dunst.
In the latest development in the Alaska Senate
race, Democrat Mary Peltola is accused
of attempting to recruit a spoiler candidate
with the same name as her incumbent opponent, Dan Sullivan.
Now the governor of Alaska is
launching his own probe to determine if charges should be filed.
Joining us now is NTD contributor
Jeffrey Clark. He's the vice president
of litigation at the Oversight Project and a
And a former U.S. Assistant Attorney General.
Jeffrey, thank you for joining.
Do you believe that a crime has been committed here by either
Mary Peltola or by members of her key staff?
I think the crime question I would put off,
the one thing I think is clear
is that DOJ can proceed here to get relief.
Against the fake Dan Sullivan.
I mean, this is the dirtiest of dirty political tricks.
You can't just run a candidate against Dan Sullivan,
the incumbent Republican senator.
You have to try to siphon votes away from him
so that Mary Peltola could get elected.
And these text messages show that her staffers
were involved in that tactic.
This is a particular problem in Alaska
because they have ranked choice voting.
And so there's already confusion about who exactly are you voting for?
It's not like you just cast
one vote of who your top choice is. You rank them.
And so every time you throw another Dan
Sullivan in there, if you get confused for a second,
it just makes the problem worse than
it is in most states. And that's why they did it, I think.
Kerry, and it needs to stop,
and it's clear they have the power to do this despite what the left
is saying. Under the motor voter law
that Bill Clinton spearheaded in 1993, there's the power
to act against electoral integrity being destroyed
and confusion being created. And the Supreme
Court said in Bullock v. Carter that there's
a duty to protect processes from fraudulent or
Frivolous candidates, and that was in 1972, all the way back then.
Being that we're just a few days out now from Tuesday's election day,
what types of relief
or remedies could be available to either the appropriate Dan Sullivan
or President Trump has
also said that potentially there should be federal intervention?
Right. Well, you know, they have filed suit over this and the suit is,
I think, very modestly
cabined. And so there would only be relief
if there's a sufficient number of votes
cast for the fake Dan Sullivan to basically change the election.
If through education efforts, through the media coverage of this,
everyone understands who the actual incumbent Dan Sullivan is,
and if they want to vote for him, they vote for him.
And then this also ran third candidate that got cooked up
to run gets virtually no votes, then the lawsuit won't do anything.
But if the actual results on the ground show confusion,
then DOJ wants judicial relief against this fake candidate.
And in terms of the fake candidate,
do you have any understanding as to what a motive or incentive
to try to be a spoiler candidate might be?
And has there been a crime committed in that respect?
Well, I think then you'd have to see whether he had that intent.
One thing that's indicative in that regard, Kerry, is that
I've seen some discussion online of the fact that this guy
was an independent, and he tried to run as a Republican,
which I don't think he really is a Republican.
Otherwise, he wouldn't be willing to play along with this scheme.
So that's some evidence of intent,
but I think that you'd have to get probably pretty good
evidence of intent to prosecute him for it.
I think the main toll for this, the bill for it
should be paid at the ballot box
or in the lawsuit if the voters in Alaska do get confused.
Yeah, as you point out, this could all be potentially moot,
but you also referred to it
as the dirtiest of dirty tricks ever played in an election.
I don't think I've ever seen anything
quite like this.
And you also mentioned the ranked choice process itself. That's on the
ballot this time in Alaska. What do you expect there?
I haven't looked at what the polls are about that.
And increasingly, I mean, I don't know that you can trust the polls.
Something I just endorsed on X actually is a great new service
that's using AI tools, but I don't think not exclusively AI tools,
to rank polls because so many of them are biased.
So many of them are misconstrued and violate statistical science.
And so, you know, I.
I don't know how that's going to turn out.
I hope the voters reject it
because I think actually that ranked choice voting is itself
unconstitutional.
Very interesting. It's something that we'd like to explore a little
bit more if it is constitutional, because it's not just in Alaska.
We saw it in a primary in the L.A. mayoral race,
and that raised some eyebrows. I do want to pivot, though.
Fox News is reporting that the Justice Department,
under President Obama back in 2016, began a probe into if Ilhan
Omar married her brother fraudulently to help him gain citizenship.
That probe was shut down in 2021 by a Biden-appointed U.S. attorney.
Omar continues to
deny the charges, and Democrats claim that this effort
is judicial weaponization. I want to get
your thoughts on that, Jeffrey.
I don't think it's judicial weaponization. The fact that the
probe into her began in the...
Obama administration shows that this is not,
you know, a selective prosecution against her.
There's, you know, lots of rational information
that suggests that you should be wary of who she
married, of what her age was when she came to the country,
and then applied to be naturalized.
And so in light of that, you know,
the claim of political weaponization, I think, is misplaced.
I, we've even found out, right,
that her real name is not really Ilhan Omar.
It's Ilhan, let me make sure I get this right, Nur Saeed Elmi.
Um, and so if you're playing games with your own name,
uh, it's another indicator of the
fact that you're trying to, to, uh, you know,
evade, uh, violate our immigration system.
And I think it should be looked at hard,
uh, her being expelled from the country.
And I call on the, uh, Republicans in the House to expel her.
I mean, they move very fast to expel George Santos in New York.
But here we have someone who engaged in actual criminal conduct and
So I think it's amazing she's still there.
And the other thing I'd point out is that,
look, the US attorney system, I think, needs reform.
There's too much of a hand of Congress
in it. They've tried to give a role to judges
in the appointment of US attorneys.
Prosecuting crimes and bringing other kinds
of cases is exclusively the power of the Justice
Department, which is part of the Article 2 in the Constitution,
and it's the president's ultimate
power. These are all things that have grown up over time,
especially, say, in the last 70 years
that have tried to strip the president
and reduce the president of his power.
And that's why we see this Biden U.S. attorney squelching this case
when it should have gone forward
All right. A lot to look out for there.
We appreciate your analysis this evening. Jeffrey
Clark. Thank you, sir. And with Alaska's alleged ballot spoiler scheme
that we were just describing,
how are everyday Americans reacting to the story?
Well, we sent out NTD's Sam Wong to the National
Mall in D.C. to hear from the people.
I don't know if you guys have been following what's
happening in Alaska. The two Dan Sullivan situation.
Yeah. Yeah. What do you make of that?
If it's true that the Democrat found a guy with an identical name,
basically a clown, to run against her opponent,
she should be disqualified.
Late-stage Republican antics.
This is an endless clown show that would
be funny if it weren't so tragic.
It does seem a little fishy on the surface to find somebody
with the same exact name to run for a position.
We're in a very good position.
You know, in a state like that with a not large population,
I mean, it could make a big difference.
They're going to find out for sure if it's illegal or not,
because I know the Justice Department will find out for sure.
If not, they're bringing it to the forefront
and they'll make sure that there'll be laws against it in the future.
President Trump has been honing in on the point of election integrity.
Do you think the president has sort of the right to be concerned there?
Yep.
Oh, yeah.
So if they do it at one place now.
They're going to try to do it eventually somewhere else in the future.
So let's make sure they can't do it again.
I find it kind of humorous that the whole thing,
that there's any pushback at all about showing an ID
and making the election more secure.
I mean, that should be our principal effort.
Absolutely. The Save America Act,
the fact that the Republicans controlled all three chambers
and couldn't even pass fundamental legislation to protect the people
who are here already.
In South America, Venezuela's
opposition leader says the
U.S. wants the country to hold
presidential elections next year.
Venezuela's acting president says elections will be held
as mandated by their constitution. NTD's Jason Perry has more.
After returning to Venezuela,
opposition leader Maria Karina Machado says the U.S.
wants Venezuela to hold presidential elections next year.
Machado was previously barred from
running in Venezuela's 2024 election.
In a press conference on Thursday,
Machado thanked the U.S. government for the opportunity.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio has outlined
a sequence of events aimed at moving toward
a democratic transition,
making it clear that presidential elections will be held in 2027.
In 2027.
Venezuelan Acting President Delcy Rodriguez
on the same day speaking on the country's elections.
I've said it before.
Elections will be held, all the ones mandated by our Constitution.
The responsible exercise of political rights
is guaranteed for all. The doors are open.
Although the U.S. has not publicly confirmed
that it wants to see Venezuela hold presidential
elections next year,
Secretary of State Marco Rubio said this earlier this month.
Our desire for Venezuela...
He said, and not just simply have elections.
Elections, of course, are very important
to have a democracy, an enduring democracy.
This is a country that's recovering
from almost a quarter century of trauma,
a very deep trauma.
This is the best opportunity Venezuela has had almost in a generation.
President Trump earlier this week thanking Venezuela,
saying their relationship with the U.S. has become a great one.
Jobs are happening in Venezuela
that nobody would have thought even possible just one year ago.
And we're bringing out a lot of oil for ourselves, a lot.
It will become a prosperous country, and who knows,
maybe someday soon it will become a prosperous 51st state.
That's possible. Let's make it. Let's make it the 51st state.
Jason Perry, NTD News.
A U.S.-brokered ceasefire in a Ukrainian city
is still holding up after almost two days,
but the fighting continues in other parts of the country.
Ukraine accuses Russia of striking a train station today
and killing over a dozen civilians.
NTD's international correspondent,
Aaron Pasdar, has the war update and a warning.
The following report does contain footage
that might be disturbing for some viewers.
New footage released on Thursday shows the aftermath
of an alleged Russian attack on a train station in Dnipro.
Ukrainian officials say at least 14 civilians
are dead after the strikes.
According to President Volodymyr Zelensky,
the Russians launched a drone attack on a platform
where an ordinary commuter train
and a scheduled passenger train were standing.
And in the city of Chernihiv, Ukrainian officials say two 15-year-old
girls are dead after Russia hit the city with a cruise missile.
Emergency staff was on the scene
and cars were engulfed in flames after the strike.
The Kremlin on Thursday, saying Ukrainian drone strikes on Moscow,
proved that Russia can't stop fighting.
World-scale events that are taking place in Thailand.
Organizing a massive drone attack on Moscow at this time is strange.
It once again emphasizes that everything continues,
and the special military operation
must continue to ensure that we are protected from such threats.
And thank God, it works effectively.
Russia's defense ministry releasing footage showing de-mining
operations in the Russian-controlled Ukrainian town of Oleshki.
First Lady Melania Trump brokered a ceasefire for the town so that food
and medical supplies can reach about 2,000 people trapped in the city.
Ready?
An operation is scheduled for the coming days,
notably with the support of the First Lady of the United States
to provide aid to the civilian population.
The opposing side mined the approaches
to this settlement and effectively...
Zelensky is also weighing in,
saying he wants to expand the ceasefire.
We must act and turn the situation around
so that Russia moves toward de-escalation
and so that this applies to our entire country, not just Oleshki.
Thank you.
The ceasefire took effect on Tuesday and is set to last for six days.

And the Federal Communications Commission
is barring foreign labs from testing electronic
devices bound for the U.S. market,
the ban applying to facilities that deny reciprocal
treatment to U.S. test labs.
In announcing the move, FCC Chair Brendan Carr said Access
provides labs, quote,
a critical gateway into American communications infrastructure.
Carr warned that allowing access
to sensitive information about electronics
could result in insecure products entering the U.S. market,
disruptions to communications networks,
and intellectual property theft.
Today's announcement is the latest move by the FCC.
Earlier this year, the agency banned imports
of Chinese-made consumer routers
that connect computers, phones, and smart devices to the Internet.
In July, the FCC voted to bar sales of devices
in the U.S. that contain key hardware from Chinese companies
which are deemed to be a national security risk.
The new FCC prohibitions are slated to take effect in December of 2028.
And China's real estate crisis has wiped out trillions
in household wealth.
Would its struggling economy pose risks for American investors?
MacroLens managing principal Brian McCarthy will break this down.

and the implications for the U.S.
tonight on Capital Report at 7 p.m. Eastern.

And now it's time for your sports news with NTD's Dave Martin.
Dave, they did it.
World Series champs.
Milwaukee has brought the title home after never doing it before
in franchise history.
Kudos to them.
Never done before.
Brewers won 4-1 last night to take the series four games to one.
Cy Young Award favorite Jacob Mizorowski got the win.
during five and two-thirds shutout innings before he had
to be taken out with what looked like a leg cramp anyway.
Meanwhile, Milwaukee catcher William Contreras
was named World Series MVP after hitting .381 in the five-game series.
Now, teammate Jackson Chourio hit a little better, hit .458.
But Contreras, behind the plate,
won 10 out of 13 challenges in baseball's replay system, ABS system.
He also threw out all four base runners on his watch.
And for Milwaukee, of course,
this is their first ever World Series title.
Having begun all the way back in 1969, then as the Seattle Pilots,
they will celebrate with a big parade tomorrow starting
at 10 a.m. Central Time there in Milwaukee.
As for next season, the consensus oddsmakers still like
the Dodgers actually to win the 2027 World Series title.
The DraftKings, BetMGM,
and the Caesars Sportsbook all have the Dodgers followed by the Brewers
and then the Yankees as the top three favorites for next season.
It's amazing.
The Lakers can't even get into the top three for next year,
but they had a really good run this year.
I think if they change their unis, they might have a better shot.
You just can't get past those uniforms, can you?
Well, the Yanks and the Dodgers, though, huh?
It's big market teams still, huh?
That's true, but the Yankees and Dodgers both do have good uniforms,
so I'll give you that.
They're pretty classic.
I like the pinstripes especially.
Yeah, you can't get past that.
All right, well, congrats to all those people up in Wisconsin.
Sweet glory after never tasting it before.
Kudos to them, that's awesome.
Now let's move to the WNBA.
Game seven, the best word in sports, right?
You love those games, I love them too, of course.
Yes, we had a game six this afternoon in Atlanta
with a dream one today.
Alicia Gray scored a team high 23 points in the win.
The Dream won 80 to 69 over Golden State
in a very early afternoon game, starting at 12.30 p.m.
Atlanta got off to a hot start,
hitting six of eight three-pointers in the first quarter,
led 32-15 after just one-fourth of the way through.
Never really relinquished the lead, led by 20 points at halftime,
led by as many as 25.
Golden State cut it to about 11
with just under two minutes remaining,
but that is as close as they got.
Atlanta star Angel Reese finishing with a double-double,
15 points and 13 rebounds in the win.
So that does set up a winner-take-all situation.
It's Game 7, that'll be Saturday night in Golden State.
Just like in baseball's World Series,
we will have the first-time WNBA champion either,
whether the Dream or the Valkyries win.
So, uh...
First in both WNBA and MLB, Terry.
All right.
Well, we wish them all luck.
They'll be playing on a weird night, Halloween.
So anything is possible in that game.
It should be exciting.
All right, let's move to the NFL.
Trade news, blockbuster trades.
What do you got?
Yeah, Chicago Bears got a big one, acquiring all-pro defensive
tackle Jeffrey Simmons from the Tennessee Titans today.
Though he did not come cheap.
Chicago is sending future
first-round picks in 2027 and 2028.
Plus a fourth-rounder in 2027 for Simmons and a fifth-round pick.
29-year-old Simmons, though, one of the best in the business,
making the Pro Bowl for the last five years.
Last season was the first time he was named being All-Pro
when he had a career-high 11 sacks.
This year, he's got four sacks through seven games with the Titans,
but Tennessee off to a 1-6 start.
Looks to be well out of the playoff race at this stage of the season.
Now, unlike some of the other stars
that have already been traded before this deadline,
Simmons is actually signed beyond this season.
He agreed to a three-year,
$105 million contract back in the offseason that takes him to 2030.
Meanwhile, there will probably still be more NFL trades,
and the trade deadline isn't until November 10.
Elsewhere in the league tonight,
Green Bay hosts Carolina on Thursday night.
Football starting at 8:15 Eastern time.
Packers with a 4-3 record.
Panthers with a 3-4 record.
So get your fantasy football rosters set because, here,
I think you guys have a big game this week, don't you?
We've got a couple big games.
Yeah, well...
My GM handles the day-to-day, though, so I actually haven't checked.
But I think we definitely have some Panther talent,
so we're going to have to make sure everybody's, you know...
There is one button you can push, apparently, and it just...
It's the recommend button.
That's a great button.
You just hit it, and it shows you your chances of winning,
and you say go.
Yeah, that's a great one, right?
AI making our life better all the time, Dave.
All right, well, thanks for that, Dave.
Appreciate it.
Thank you.
That is all the time we have for tonight's evening news,
but for around-the-clock coverage, visit us at NTD.com.
For Dave Martin, I'm Cary Dunst.
Be true, kind, hold the line.
We'll see you tomorrow.
