New estimates show that around 50,000 illegal immigrants stormed the Spanish city of Ceuta this week. That’s equivalent to more than half of the entire city’s population. Over 50 died trying to cross the border into Spain.
Welcome to NTD Evening News. Our top story tonight, President Trump saying he's losing
faith in Iran and will hit them hard. What he says at the first ever televised
cabinet meeting at Camp David. A deal has been reached to fully disarm the Hamas terrorist
group in the Gaza Strip. International troops expected to assist with security
while the plan is carried out. Jason Perry has the details.

This is NTD Evening News. Live from our global headquarters in New York City, here's Cary Dunst.
Good evening. Thank you for joining us tonight. Holding a cabinet meeting at Camp David,
President Trump touts a historic peace deal for Gaza and vows to further hit Iran
as Trump says the regime continues to lie. President Trump also pointing to an immigrant
crisis in a Spanish city as a key midterm message for Republicans.
NTD's White House correspondent Iris Tao has more.
We are the party of transparency. For the first time ever, a televised cabinet meeting at Camp
David, a secure presidential retreat historically reserved for confidential military planning.
Last time President Trump was at Camp David, he was planning Operation Midnight Hammer,
striking Iran's key nuclear sites. This time is warning about more strikes against Iran
five months into the Iran conflict, saying that he's losing faith in the regime.
I'm losing faith in them because they do lie. They've been very dishonest. They've been very
dishonorable to deal with. The president says while Iran's
military capabilities are largely gone, some remain as Tehran continues to attack U.S.
allies and bases in the region. The U.S. this week continues to degrade Iran's abilities,
striking targets near the Strait of Hormuz, intercepting a surprise attack in Jordan,
and launching joint strikes with Saudi Arabia against Iranian proxies in Iraq.
We'll be hitting them very hard. At some point they're going to say we just can't take it anymore.
Despite tensions with Iran, breakthrough happening on another front in the Middle East.
The president overnight announcing a historic peace deal for Gaza under the Board of Peace,
confirming the Hamas agreed to a phased disarmament plan,
which will be followed by Israel's withdrawal from Gaza.
The fact that even agreed to it is a real achievable.
Nobody thought that would be possible to disarm Hamas.
That shows you how much success we're having with Iran.
Domestically, the president stressing Republicans' record of a secure border ahead of the midterms.
He's citing scenes of around 50,000 migrants flooding into Spain's enclave of Ceuta from
Morocco, warning. If we're not in office,
our country will be invaded at levels that made Spain look small time.
CBP data shows Southwest border encounters are now down by over 90 percent from summer of 2024,
when monthly totals regularly topped 100,000.
And the Trump administration now touting 14 straight months of zero releases at the border,
as President Trump saying that will be a big talking point for Republicans
this November. Reporting by Iris Tao, NTD News.
And there's new reporting that President Trump has ordered new attacks on Iran,
possibly as early as this weekend.
When asked for confirmation, the White House says Iran broke the memorandum of understanding,
shot at ships and killed Americans.
The statement also says that President Trump will not tolerate its terrorist behavior.
Iran will keep paying the price until it returns to the table in a meaningful way.
And Cuba is waging a covert campaign of subversion,
recruiting U.S. citizens as influence agents to sow discord in the U.S.
How is the Cuban regime using tourism to prop up far left terror in the U.S.?
Tune in for analysis tonight on Capitol Report.
State Department spokesperson Tommy Pickett will be joining
Steve Lance to break it down at 7 p.m. Eastern time, just after evening news.
And next, Democratic leaders are sounding the alarm as left-wing candidates gain ground
into Midwestern primaries.
In Michigan, Abdul El-Sayed has opened a double-digit lead for the race for a Senate seat.
Democrats say they cannot afford to lose. NTD's Chris Bobb reports.
If he wins, that means there will be a celebration over the GOP 100 percent.
Now that he is a big target and now he said a lot of outlandish things,
so that would put that seat there and then
makes it even more difficult for us to recapture the majority.
Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman is warning that progressive candidate Abdul
El-Sayed could place Michigan's open Senate seat within Republican reach.
A new Emerson College poll shows El-Sayed leading Congresswoman Haley Stevens
54 percent to 39 percent among likely Democratic primary voters.
El-Sayed is campaigning on Medicare for All and eliminating medical debt.
We don't need medical debt. We should not have medical debt.
The existence of medical debt is a policy choice we continue to make in this country,
and it's a policy choice we should not make anymore. So we can abolish our medical debt.
Retiring Michigan Senator Gary Peters endorsing Stevens,
calling Michigan ground zero in Democrats' effort to reclaim the Senate.
A lot is at stake right now. We have to win in Michigan. We have to keep it blue.
That was my assessment that Haley Stevens is the best candidate,
and I thought that I needed to be involved.
Republican Mike Rogers is running unopposed for his party's nomination.
Stevens says Republicans are boosting El-Sayed because they believe
he would be easier to defeat in November.
The socialist surge is also appearing in Wisconsin,
where state representative Francesca Hong has become the Democratic gubernatorial frontrunner.
Hong belongs to the Madison chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America,
although she says she did not seek the national organization's endorsement.
My home chapter, DSA Madison, we have focused so much on making sure that we're helping to meet
community needs, and we didn't actually pursue the national DSA endorsement,
and as I've mentioned, there aren't things that I completely agree with right now.
Hong supports a higher minimum wage, paid leave, government-backed health care,
and a public bank intended to finance affordable housing and union construction jobs.
Former Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes dropped out after a poll showed Hong leading
him by more than 20 points. Michigan voters cast their primary ballots Tuesday.
Wisconsin follows on August 11th. The results will test whether Democratic
voters continue moving towards the socialist wing of the party,
despite warnings that doing so could improve Republican prospects in November.
Chris Bobb, NTD News.
New estimates show that around 60,000 illegal immigrants stormed the Spanish city of Ceuta
this week. That's equivalent to more than half of the entire city's population.
Over 50 immigrants died trying to cross the border into Spain.
NTD's international correspondent, Arjen Pazdar, has the latest.
Multiple cars on fire, immigrants lighting flares, and more. Those are the scenes being
seen in Spain's Ceuta on Friday. Ceuta is a Spanish enclave in Africa with around 80,000
residents. Estimates show that 60,000 immigrants entered the city illegally this week, as thousands
simultaneously stormed the border. I watched the catastrophe that took place.
It looks like an invasion of a country. And that same thing is going to happen to us if
the Republicans don't get elected. Except worse. Much bigger. Much easier to get into.
Despite Ceuta being in Africa, the immigrants are entering Spanish territory and thus the
European Union. The bloc's commission president says the images coming from Ceuta are unacceptable.
We cannot allow anyone to come to our union without abiding by our rules.
The union's Schengen agreement allows for free travel between its member states.
Italy is now closing its sea and air borders with Spain, temporarily suspending the Schengen rule.
These policies have demolished the Spanish economy.
Daniel Lacalle is the chief economist at TRESES in Europe. He partly blames Spanish
Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, who's with Spain's Socialist Workers' Party. Lacalle says Sanchez
has long been implementing policies that abolish background checks and make it almost impossible
for authorities to deport illegal immigrants. On top of that, the Spanish Supreme Court recently
made it more difficult to deport immigrants who swim into Ceuta, as was the case for many this
week. Lacalle tells NTD that this has many different impacts on the Spanish people and
the nation's economy. It displaces all the people that really want to come to Spain legally. The
impact on the social services, on health care, on education, on housing is absolutely phenomenal.
At least 55 immigrants died while trying to swim into Ceuta this week, a grim reminder of immigrants
who died in the Darien Gap in Panama while trying to reach the US during the immigration crisis,
which peaked in 2023 and 2024. These policies implemented by the socialist government are also
very, very negative for immigrants themselves. Sanchez calls the event a violation of Spain's
territory, saying most immigrants have returned to Morocco already, although it's not clear
how many have returned exactly. Arian Pasdar, NTD News.
Joining us now is Todd Bensman. He's a senior research fellow for the Border Security and
Immigration Center at the Heritage Foundation. Prior to that, he served the Trump administration
as senior advisor to the US Department of Homeland Security. Thank you for joining
this evening, Todd. What led to this situation in Ceuta, which could be described now as a
humanitarian crisis? I don't think your audio is coming in. There we go. I'm sorry about that.
Two factors drove this crisis. One is that the Spanish Supreme Court issued a ruling
that struck down a policy of expulsion at the borders of these Spanish mini-states.
Word of that spread throughout Morocco and prompted all of these people to rush the border
to get in before anybody could really put up any barriers or anything.
The second part of that is that not too long ago, in April, the Spanish prime minister
announced amnesty for 500,000 illegal aliens in Spain, that they could live and work there
pretty much forever. Those two factors, that was a double whammy. It really just
perfect alignment of stars and planets, just drove this thing to what you saw on TV.
It really goes to the principle of when a country does not expel, when they instead accept
people over the border, either by court order or policy, in this case, it was both,
millions will come. You will just have mass migration when you do not expel.
That's what was happening here. Illegal immigration, of course, as you're
pointing out, it comes with consequences, which has been a key issue for many people
here at home in the US. What are the risks of this latest breach in Spain, do you think?
Well, it depends on how they handle it. My understanding is, as of today, when we're
talking here, is that they have figured out a legal way to remove 35,000 of those who came in
back to Morocco under an agreement between the two countries. I'm not sure how they were able
to bypass the Supreme Court ruling that says you have to grant them the ability to go through
asylum, but nevertheless, that's happening. That's very important because the people downstream
are watching what's happening upstream. If they're all ending up back at square one,
they'll stop coming. That's important to make sure that that happens.
The other thing is that they're watching is whether they'll be releasing them to the mainland
in Spain. Once that happens, of course, word of that will get out to even a small number.
Word of that will get out and just absolutely supercharge the mass migration. It has to be
all expulsions, 100% expulsions, in order to really settle that situation down.
You can't be a little bit pregnant here.
Understood. That is true. Now, with Spain being part of the EU, there's now this concern,
of course, that these immigrants will have unfettered access to other EU nations under
the Schengen Agreement. How is that supposed to only apply to people who are legally present,
but how does that ultimately get vetted? First of all, the many states on the African
continent, they're not able to just automatically go to Spain. There are specialized rules and
policies about that. However, the Spanish government could and may have to bring them
to the mainland because they don't have the facilities. They were just completely overrun.
All their facilities there have been completely overrun. They're going to either have to put them
in emergency shelters or bring them to the mainland. In which case, the question there is
whether they detain them. Nobody wants to be detained. They're not going to want to go over
there if they have to be detained. Or if they release them, that's the key thing. If they
release them, then they're free to go anywhere in the Schengen. Even if they don't have permission,
they can just walk over the borders. Nobody's going to stop them and then head to France
and Germany and the other wealthier countries. Wow. Of course, what you're describing are these
very easy to understand incentive structures. It looks like Italy, the only nation at this moment
to have suspended its Schengen agreement. They closed the sea and the air borders with Spain.
That'll be for a month. Why is Italy taking a much tougher stance on this than France is at
this moment? Of course, it could change in the next hour. At this moment, it looks like Italy
and France taking two approaches to the situation with Spain. It's just like here in the United
States. There's a partisan divide in Europe, in the EU, where the liberals are all about,
hey, bring them in. We're welcoming. We have empathy. But the conservative governments
don't want this. They don't like it. There is a conservative leadership in Italy right now
that was elected because Italy was absolutely pummeled by illegal immigration and people were
sick of it. They brought in somebody who campaigned that they were going to shut that down.
That's the difference. You have a spotty EU with liberal governments like in Slovenia
and conservative governments like in Poland or Hungary. The EU is only as strong as its weakest
link when it comes to illegal immigration. If one of those liberal governments lets them all in,
everybody suffers. All the rest of the Schengen countries suffer. That's why some of them will
shut their borders, but the immigrants will just go around it to the friendly countries
that will let them in and they'll still end up wherever they wanted to go to start with
their release. Yeah. And President Trump, of course, offering his criticism of Spain's
situation, contrasting it to the current southern U.S. border, which he says is safe. So your
reaction to President Trump's comments and the handling of immigration, the two different
approaches essentially. I mean, he's absolutely right. And the partisan divide that I just
described in Europe is totally here in the United States. So you have Republicans and MAGA
leaders like Trump that just say, we will expel everybody at the border.
Nobody gets in. We release nobody. You remember, you can't be a little bit pregnant here. This is
all or nothing. So the Trump administration has a complete blanket expulsion policy. Nobody gets to
claim asylum and get let into the country. And that's why you have a border that is
dead. If you go down there, there is nothing happening, very little activity at all. The
numbers being released are zero or statistically zero. But the Biden administration, they were the
liberals. So they said, we have empathy. We're going to let a whole bunch of people, most
everybody gets to come in. We're welcoming. We're going to let everybody apply for asylum. And so
you had 10 million people pouring over. It looked just like that, what you saw in Spain. It looked
just like that for months and years down there. It went on. And so Trump is completely right when
he says that will happen again at our border if a Democrat takes the White House, except it'll be
much worse, much bigger. And it will be because our border is really long compared to that one
in Europe. And we've already seen what happens at our border when Democrats get in there and say,
we're going to let a few people in. It's got to be all or nothing. Well, a very dynamic situation
starting to play out there in Spain and affecting the rest of the EU. Todd Bensman, thank you so
much for sharing your analysis. Thank you. And next, Washington DC police statistics say that
homicides in the nation's capital are down 47% from the same period last year. The White House
has been touting similar drops in other cities as the US is on track to hit a new record low
nationwide. NDD correspondent Jason Blair has more on that. The murder rate saw a single largest
drop ever recorded to the lowest in 125 years. President Trump referring to 2025, which saw the
biggest one-year decrease in murders nationwide since records started being kept in 1900.
The White House says 2026 is already on track to beat last year's historic drop.
And Washington DC is one of the top major cities to reflect the drop. DC Metropolitan Police stats
say from July 31st, 2025 to July 31st, 2026, homicides decreased from 174 to 93 or by 47%.
The White House reports that so far this year, Memphis has seen a similar drop of 43%
and New Orleans, 32%. White House borders are Tom Homan saying recently that ice arrests are
hitting record levels as well. Numbers are up. I mean, in June, we had the highest numbers of
arrests in the history of the agency of ice and July's track can even be that. Data released by
track immigration last week shows ice is averaging about 1,500 arrests a day. And Customs and Border
Protection now have the highest number of Border Patrol agents in its 102 year history. The agency
credits the surge to $4.1 billion in hiring funds from the one big beautiful bill passed last year.
And after videos started circulating of crowds of immigrants illegally making their way through
Spain's borders, President Trump had this to say. It looks like an invasion of a country. We have
the safest border in the world. If we're not in office, our country will be invaded at levels
that made Spain look small time. The White House also touting US borders having 15 straight months
with quote zero illegal aliens admitted. Reporting in Washington, D.C., Jason Blair, Entity News.
And President Trump announcing an agreement to disarm the Iran-backed Hamas terrorist group in
the Gaza Strip. International troops are expected to assist with security while the plan is carried
out in phases. Entity's Jason Perry has more on that. President Trump announcing that the
Board of Peace has reached an agreement for the complete disarmament of the Hamas terrorist group
and all other armed groups in the Gaza Strip. In a post on Truth Social Thursday, Trump said,
quote, This agreement is a critical step towards Gaza finally being governed by a new Palestinian
government that will work closely with the Board of Peace to help the Palestinian people.
He also said, quote, Israel will have the security it deserves, with Gaza no longer used as a base
for terror attacks. Trump said the agreement will be carried out in phases. And as disarmament is
completed, Israeli forces will withdraw from the territory. The International Stabilization Force,
expected to consist of troops from Albania, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kosovo and Morocco,
will work with a new Palestinian police force to take responsibility to keep Gaza safe
for its residents and neighbors. The main point is whether Hamas is actually willing to disarm or not.
Israeli ambassador to the U.N., Danny Dannin, sharing his thoughts on the situation.
Disarmament means the weapon is out of Gaza. They have no control over the weapon. And then
we can move forward. Otherwise, you know, they will start to play games. And we are not naive
and we are not stupid. The day before, Israeli forces said they launched a strike and killed a
Hamas commander who participated in the October 7th attacks. Israel said he also worked as a doctor
at one of the main hospitals in the Gaza Strip. A resident in Gaza sharing his thoughts on the
agreement for Hamas to disarm. God willing, they will find a solution for us. Hamas will
surrender their weapons and Gaza will return to how it was before October 7th. We hear news
reports about a ceasefire and many other things. But in reality, I swear that yesterday I was
walking with someone in the street when random bullets hit the house next to us.
And a resident in Israel sharing his thoughts on the agreement.
Hamas is a terrorist organization. It's an organization that cannot be trusted.
But let's see. Let's see what happens. An official with the Board of Peace
explains that one of their guiding principles is to prevent hatred of Israel from undermining
the ability of the Palestinian people to live a better life. Jason Perry in TD News.

Welcome back to Entity Evening News. I'm Kerry Dunst. Authorities are asking the public for help.
Identifying the writer behind the ransom notes for Nancy Guthrie. The Pima County Sheriff's
Department says a family member or friend might recognize who wrote them. The two ransom notes
were sent to local and national media outlets that claim to have been written by the kidnappers.
The local CBS affiliate in Tucson, KOLD-TV 13 News, received that first note on February 2nd.
They received the second one on February 6th. According to the Pima County Sheriff's Department,
the notes reveal distinctive word and syntax patterns. Investigators say those details
could reflect the writer's unique linguistic style. They could also provide valuable insight
into the person's mindset and motives. Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today Show host Savannah
Guthrie, she went missing from her home outside Tucson on February 1st. Authorities are urging
anyone with information to call 1-800-CALL-FBI. Again, that's 1-800-CALL-FBI.
Seattle Police Chief Sean Barnes has resigned. This comes four days after that fatal shooting
that left three people dead and four wounded in the center of the city.
Here's the mayor on the plan going forward. I have selected Deputy Chief Andre Sales to be
the interim police chief of this department. I chose Andre Sales because he has done this job
before and can hit the ground running. He served as chief of police in Wisconsin, where he led with
a community-focused approach that strengthened both public safety and community trust. He has
earned the respect of our police force in his time here, and that is exactly what we need right now.
Interim Police Chief Andre Sales has more than 20 years of experience in law enforcement.
The mayor says the city is urgently searching for a permanent police chief. She says she will
be looking for someone who can listen and build relationships with the police department
from top to bottom. Barnes and other city leaders, including the mayor,
have all faced scrutiny for the delayed and sometimes inconsistent information about the
Sunday shooting. After the shooting, it took several hours for police to provide
any additional information to the public, including whether there was any ongoing threat.
The city also failed to send out any notifications through its emergency alert system.
Seattle police say they are working to identify and arrest suspects in the shooting.
They call the ongoing investigation a top priority.
The department also says it is reviewing staffing plans for all other upcoming events.
And New York is the latest state to sue prediction market platform,
Kalshi. It's accusing the company of operating an illegal gambling business. The lawsuit adds
to a growing legal battle over who has the authority to regulate online prediction markets.
NDD's Arlene Richards explores both arguments.
New York's attorney general is suing prediction market platform Kalshi,
accusing the company of operating an illegal gambling business without a state license.
The lawsuit filed on Friday is the latest in a growing legal battle between Kalshi
and states across the country over who has the authority to regulate prediction markets.
Frankly, it's an it's an unhinged and extraordinarily egregious piece of
lawfare that's designed to shut down not only some aspects of prediction markets,
but all aspects of prediction markets and can be applied to any designated
contract market or derivatives exchange in the country.
Kalshi is regulated by the Federal Commodity Futures Trading Commission,
which oversees the company's event contracts.
New York and other states argue that Kalshi's contracts amount to gambling
and should be subject to state gaming laws.
Kalshi's CEO echoed the commissioner's comments in a March interview about Arizona's lawsuit.
They could file the same exact charges under the same analysis against CME or ICE or NASDAQ.
And that's the whole point of federal regulation of these financial exchanges is to prevent this
sort of chaos and this sort of attacks on these businesses that could be political in nature or
other. More than a dozen states have now taken legal action against Kalshi. Arizona's lawsuit
went even further than other states by filing criminal misdemeanor charges earlier this year.
The way the law looks at derivatives markets is more on the validity of a contract.
Does the contract provide value? Does it provide utility? Does it provide pricing information
or hedging opportunity for businesses and people?
The legal battles in several states could ultimately determine whether prediction
markets are treated as federally regulated financial products or not.
We will 100% abide by the law. But what I always say, the law applies to us as much as it applies
to the government. And when government oversteps the law and goes out of bound,
we're going to fight that in court.
If the lawsuits are successful, Kalshi's ability to operate not just in New York,
but all over the country could be significantly limited. Marlene Richards, NDT News.
California's minimum wage is set to increase again. Governor Gavin Newsom announcing the
NDT's Christina Corona looks at what the change could mean for small businesses.
Governor Gavin Newsom announced that California's statewide minimum wage will increase to $17.40
per hour starting in January 2027. That would give California the highest statewide rate in
the nation. The increase comes after California's minimum wage rose to $16.90 an hour at the start
of 2026. Under state law, the statewide minimum wage is automatically adjusted each year to keep
pace with inflation. Newsom says the increase will help workers keep up with the rising cost
of living. In a statement, he also criticized Republicans in Congress for leaving the federal
minimum wage at $7.25 an hour, where it has remained since 2009. Tatiana Pacheco, owner of
Andrea's Healthy Kitchen in Ahwahnee, says the increase could make it harder for small businesses
like hers to keep costs down. We have to sometimes increase the prices or, you know,
reduce the hours for the employee. It's a struggle, to be honest, because it's one of those
things that you don't want to, especially when it comes to the employee, because, again, I truly
believe they need a higher, you know, pay. She says the added costs go beyond wages, including
payroll taxes, insurance, and other operating expenses. We still need to have the doors open,
so it definitely affects, because, again, it's not only just the difference on the wage,
it's also on the taxes that we have to pay for the, you know, everything, the insurance,
everything goes up with hand in hand. Still, Pacheco says workers deserve higher pay,
but small businesses are often left absorbing the additional costs. I do believe that, you know,
they need to get a raise, but as business owners, sometimes we have to pay the consequences,
not in a bad way, but with, you know, an extra cost for us. The increase will take effect
starting January, 2027. Reporting from the city of El Monte, Christina Corona, NTD News.
Tens of millions of Americans in the U.S. West will face weather alerts from a potentially
record-setting heat dome. Take a look at these forecasted high temperatures
compared to their normal averages on tap for these major cities through the weekend. Triple
digit readings expected in Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Sacramento. Meteorologists
say this heat dome could reach higher than usual and trap more hot air below it. They think it
could bring some areas the hottest temperatures so far this summer. The area predicted to hit
the highest on the thermometer? Well, that's Death Valley at 126 degrees. Yikes. And coming up,
four of America's top intelligence agencies say China's targeting U.S. voter data qualifies as
election interference. The White House is investigating. And after Chad GPT's Maker
disclosed that its AI models were able to hack another company,
Anthropic says its models did the same thing during testing. David Lamb brings us more on that.
We come from a long line of farmers and there's a sense of pride in being part of these
multi-generational businesses, but there's also a significant amount of pressure. My senior year
of high school, my dad made the decision that this world no longer needed him in it. I don't
know if he was overwhelmed by the bills and checks that weren't going to be coming in because of the
strawberries dying off, but it breaks my heart that my dad made a permanent decision for a
temporary issue. Don't feel like you have to go through it alone. Farmers have to take care of

of U.S. voter registration data constitutes election interference. NTD's Washington
correspondent Jack Bradley reports. The heads of America's top intelligence agencies are saying
China's acquisition of U.S. voter registration data was election interference. A new White
House fact sheet says the Chinese regime and its proxies bought, stole, or hacked voter data
belonging to as many as 220 million Americans, some of it not publicly available. Backing up
President Trump's recent statement. The People's Republic of China carried out what is believed to
be the largest compromise of election data in history. The document was approved by the
Directors of National Intelligence, the CIA, the NSA, and Homeland Security. They say voters'
stolen personal information could be used by China to block people from voting,
force provisional ballots, and disrupt election day operations. This is a cyber threat aimed at
the very heart of our democracy. But some Democrats are pushing back. The efforts to try
to actually interfere did not change any votes. That was the conclusion driven by the Trump
administration, national intelligence. But President Trump says some intelligence officials were keeping
this information hidden. They did not disclose to me as president or to anyone else and to the
best of our knowledge, they did not inform Congress. The president is now directing the
Justice Department, the FBI, CIA, and the Office of Director of National Intelligence to investigate
why and to pursue criminal charges where appropriate. Jack Bradley, NTD News, Washington.
Yesterday, the Senate Judiciary Committee canceled the vote to advance Todd Blanche's
Attorney General nomination. Now President Trump is reacting. Here's NTD's Fiona Jean.
In a post on Truth Social Friday morning, President Trump writes, quote,
John Cornyn never had a problem with the so-called fund until after I decided to endorse and support
his Republican primary opponent in Texas, who easily won the nomination for the United States
Senate. This is, of course, referring to the anti-weaponization fund opposed by Republican
senators Tom Tillis and John Cornyn. Both senators say that they will oppose the president's pick for
Attorney General Todd Blanche until the fund is either officially restricted or shut down.
The president on Friday reiterating his support for Blanche.
Todd Blanche is a very, very good man, and he shouldn't be in the middle of this.
He should get approved because you will never get anybody like him.
Other lawmakers are also showing support for the Attorney General nominee,
saying Blanche has already proved that he is capable of running the DOJ,
citing lower crime rates and increased efforts to fight fraud.
On Thursday, President Trump said he would consider withdrawing Blanche's nomination
until both Tillis and Cornyn leave office in January. Tillis is not running for re-election
in November, and Cornyn lost his primary election back in May. And as of now, Todd Blanche remains
the Senate-confirmed Deputy Attorney General, and he can continue to serve in that position
indefinitely. Reporting from Washington, D.C., Fiona Gee, NTD News.
Anthropic announcing that its AI models were able to hack into other companies during testing,
and this comes after OpenAI's makes a similar discovery about its own AI models.
NTD's David Lam reports.
Anthropic, the creator of Clod, says its AI models hacked into three different companies
during a capabilities test. This was just days after OpenAI said its own models
hacked another company during an evaluation.
Anthropic is a San Francisco-based artificial intelligence company,
and it said on Thursday it found three incidents after reviewing more than 140,000
evaluation runs. It was part of a large-scale cybersecurity review of its AI models.
Anthropic said Clod compromised the impacted organization's infrastructure
using basic techniques, such as exploiting weak passwords. The models were given a fictional
scenario and told a piece of secret information was hidden on a different machine, and they had
to retrieve it. The models were told that there was no Internet access, but due to a misunderstanding,
Internet was actually available. Anthropic's oldest model continued its attack after accessing
the Internet, while its latest model stopped the exercise after recognizing it was on the Internet.
According to Anthropic, these simulations were run without standard safeguards that are usually
deployed when the models are generally available. Anthropic says it had reached out to the affected
organizations. David Lamb, NTD News, California.
World War II film starring Nicolas Cage has been in the works for several years.
Now the movie's producer is suing Netflix for $105 million over its disappearance.
Entity Sean Marshall has more.
Movie producer is seeking $105 million in damages from Netflix. Simon Afram says a
copy of his unreleased Nicolas Cage movie was stolen from the streaming services
Studios in Hollywood. According to Sentinel-1 data security statistics, human error in physical
or digital insider handling account for 60% of movie industry data and security breaches.
Afram's attorney said in the California lawsuit, filed on Wednesday, that the filmmakers had
delivered an unencrypted master copy of the World War II drama Fortitude to Netflix in June at the
Afram invested more than $45 million in the production, which took seven years to complete.
He was in the process of trying to sell the movie to Netflix or another distributor.
According to the lawsuit, Netflix informed the plaintiffs nine days later that quote,
someone stole a good amount of drives from our desks this past week,
including the one containing Fortitude. The producers argue that the film's value has been
destroyed because distributors are unlikely to buy a film that can appear on piracy sites.
They say Netflix should have better secured the hard drive. Netflix says it has declined
to share information from their investigation with Afram's attorneys, accusing them of making
quote, hostile attempts to extort money from Netflix over this situation,
rather than working with us in good faith. Sean Marshall, NTD News.

Now for your sports news, we're joined by NTD's Dave Martin. Dave, we got some NFL news this
evening, but let's start in soccer. FIFA President Gianna Interpantino looking to bring in some
private investment, and people are not happy about that. What's going on? Yeah, well, of
course, this is all about money, Kerry. Lots of money. Interpantino's plan here, not very popular,
as you mentioned, but he said he would bring in those private investors that would own about
20% of a new subsidiary that would be running the money-making parts of FIFA, like running the World
Cup, selling broadcast rights, sponsorships, tickets, etc. You know, billions of dollars here.
The bottom line is they would invest $4.2 billion for a 20% stake. That money would
essentially be split among their 211 member federations, you know, countries. So that comes
about to $20 million apiece. It has not been a very popular plan, though. In fact, the European
soccer body, that's UEFA, had vowed to boycott any FIFA competitions until the plan is dropped.
And in addition, now CONCACAF, this is the North and Central American federations, as well as the
Asian Soccer Federation, have also rejected this proposal. Now, some of the reasons why that
these outside investors, they fear anyway, would want more games, more competitions,
so that they can get more profits. Now, meanwhile, there are some players and coaches and such that
say that their calendars are already full. FIFA looks like they are continuing with this plan
anyway. Of course, we will continue to follow this development as it goes on. It's caused quite
an uproar. Honestly, I was a little surprised about it, given all the money that was coming in.
But I guess if your schedule is already full, it's kind of tough, huh? The business of sports,
it seems like it's just up and to the right. Now, let's go to the NFL, which is gangbusters as well.
CBS, they've put Tony Romo on leave now after getting arrested for suspected of driving under
the influence. What's the latest with that? Yeah, the 46-year-old Tony Romo, he's been the lead
for NFL games for CBS since 2017. Regular teams with Jim Nance and Tracy Wolfson on the sideline.
Romo had previously been a four-time Pro Bowl quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys from 2004
to 2016. Maybe not your favorite team, Kerry, all right? In any case. Dallas and the Giants,
you know, old foes, right? Not as bad as the Dirty Birds, but you know. I got this distinct
feeling from you in last year's fantasy football that you're not a big Cowboys fan.
I should have stuck with them though, right? It didn't work out so well for me. In any case,
with Romo on leave, former NFL star J.J. Watt will be the lead analyst, and Watt has been with CBS
since 2023. Meanwhile, back to Romo. He was arrested last week on suspicion of driving
under the influence. Sheriff's office said he had an open container of alcohol in his vehicle.
Court records show he was cited for refusing to take a test for intoxication. Romo had told
deputies he was coming from the golf course and was on his way to visit his grandpa and grandma.
Near where Romo went to high school, he's doing on court on September 21st. That's the Monday of
week two of the NFL season. Obviously, Romo, a very popular lead analyst. You know, he's known
for calling the play before it even happens. He has those great conversations with Nance.
Obviously, you can tell I'm a big fan of Romo. So anyway, we'll see what happens.
My condolences to you. Hopefully, it all works out for the best.
Thank you. I appreciate it. We'll see what happens there. All right. Thanks for joining, Dave.
And next, a British race team attempting to set a new land speed record. A new hydrogen-powered
vehicle would push them over the finish line. And it is Andrew Thomas has more on the driver's
need for speed. Wing commander Andy Reid likes to go fast. He's the only person to break the
sound barrier in a car, reaching 763 miles per hour in his British thrust SSC.
To break his own land speed record, he'll take the wheel in a new vehicle, the JCB Hydromax.
The engines were designed to run at 74 horsepower in a JCB digger on hydrogen.
They've actually been ramped. They've had magic engineering dust sprinkled on them in huge
quantities to get them up to, wait for it, 800 horsepower per engine.
Green says that's more than 10 times the output of the original design per engine.
In tests at RAF Wittering in Cambridgeshire in the UK earlier this year, the vehicle reached 208
miles per hour. The team is now heading to Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah for the record
attempt. Green set the diesel land speed record in the JCB Dieselmax 20 years ago,
hitting over 350 miles per hour. Can he beat it with hydrogen-powered engines?
We are confident that the car will get to 350. We've tested all the components to above 350.
What the peak speed is, I can't say. Even if I wanted to give you a number,
I would be making one up. We just don't know. So part of the adventure here is we're going to find
out. In addition to the anticipation of the actual attempt, Green says he's appreciated
the preparation required to take on the challenge. There's also me personally getting ready to drive
the car, understanding every aspect of how the car works, how the two engines talk to each other,
how the various systems work, how the parachutes deploy, how the brakes work,
what brake pedal pressure I'm going to use, what the steering rate is, how stable the car is,
how it's likely to respond in a crosswind. Green's attempt will take place at Utah's
Bonneville Salt Flats, which features several land speed racing events.
Speed week runs until August 8th. Andrew Thomas, NTD News.
Thanks for watching NTD Evening News. Good night.
