Trump Buying Bonds To Lower Mortgages; Suitcases Of Cash Leaving MN; New Fraud Task Force; Cuba Saga

Hello all you freedom loving people. The Trump administration made several moves to protect the American dream and after Maduro's arrest Cuba is free falling and Colombia is eager to make amends and after the ICE shooting in Minnesota and suitcases full of cash leaving the country the DOJ is stepping up its game. Okay let's get into it. Today Vice President J.D. Vance announced a new federal task force that will have nationwide jurisdiction over the issue of fraud. Making the announcement alongside White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt at the news briefing, Vance said that the Justice Department will feature a new Associate Attorney General position. While the DOJ has already sent out 1,500 subpoenas and 100 indictments, the DOJ aims to announce a nominee for the position within the next few days. Prior to Vance's remarks, Leavitt reiterated the Trump administration's rock solid support for federal immigration officers who are operating across the country and Vance pushed back against Minnesota Governor Tim Walz after Walz suggested that his state could defy the federal government during ICE operations. Vance argued that Walz's record does not match the image of a leader who is standing up for freedom while resisting federal authority but Vance emphasized that the focus is not on Walz's rhetoric rather it is on uncovering the full scope of the fraud and holding those responsible accountable. He's a guy who has enabled fraud and maybe in fact has participated in fraud. That's what this new Assistant Attorney General position is going to find out. I don't care what Tim Walz says. I care about getting to the bottom of this fraud for the American people and I care about enforcing the nation's immigration laws. That's what we're going to stay focused on. Vance also said that Renee Nicole Goode, the woman fatally shot by ICE in Minneapolis yesterday, was part of a broader left-wing network designed to attack ICE officers. Is that that woman is part of a broader left-wing network to attack, to dox, to assault and to make it impossible for our ICE officers to do their job. If the media wants to tell the truth, they ought to tell the truth that a group of left-wing radicals have been working tirelessly sometimes using domestic terror techniques to try to make it impossible for the President of the United States to do what the American people elected him to do, which is enforce our immigration laws. The President stands with ICE. I stand with ICE. We stand with all of our law enforcement officers and part of that is recognizing that you people in the media, not everybody in this room, but many people in this room have been lying about this attack. She was trying to ram this guy with her car. He shot back. He defended himself. He's already been seriously wounded in law enforcement operations before and everybody who's been repeating the lie that this is some innocent woman who was out for a drive in Minneapolis when a law enforcement officer shot at her. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Vance also elaborated on who he thinks is behind the left-wing network. But here's the way that I put it. When somebody throws a brick at an ICE agent or somebody tries to run over an ICE agent who paid for the brick and who told protesters to show up and engage in violent activity against our law enforcement officers. You see just with this most recent terrible incident in Minneapolis. You see friends of this woman's or other people who are eyewitnesses saying basically that she was there to engage in obstruction of a legitimate law enforcement operation. How did she get there? How did she learn about this? There's an entire network and frankly some of the media are participating in it that is trying to incite violence against our law enforcement officers. It's ridiculous. It's preposterous and part of our investigatory work is getting to the bottom of it. Who's funding it? Who's supporting it? Who's cheerleading it? And of course if there's a legal activity related to that we're going to get to the bottom of that and prosecute it where we can. While the administration is focused on investigating the fraud scandal new details are emerging about an unusually large flow of cash leaving Minnesota. The amount of dollars leaving the country is now being investigated by Homeland Security as part of a broader probe in Minnesota. Homeland Security department officials said that statistics that they have gathered in recent weeks show the movement of cash out of Minnesota was substantially abnormal and should have raised red flags years ago. Yesterday just the news reported that the cash was moved overseas in luggage by Somali couriers from the Minneapolis airport. The total amount of money that was moved was 10 to 100 times larger than the total foreign exodus of money at other American airports in the last two years. The Transportation Security Administration detected and flagged nearly 700 million dollars in cash that was moved in luggage out of the Minneapolis airport by Somali couriers in 2024 and 2025 alone. This was nearly 1 million dollars a day. Some of the cash was moved to Amsterdam and then to Dubai. And also during the news briefing Vance firmly denied reports that he and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard have been kept out of the planning for the actions taken against Venezuela. His comments were in response to a report by Bloomberg today which stated that Gabbard had been excluded from the planning that was made for Venezuela due to her prior skepticism of American intervention in the country. So I've heard a couple of things one that I was kept out of the planning for the Venezuela operation that's false and another that Tulsi was kept out of the planning for Venezuela operations that's completely false. Look we're all part of the same team and one of the things that is really amazing about that operation is that we kept it very tight to the senior cabinet level officials and related officials in our government and we kept this operation secret for a very long time very proud of that. I think it suggests I think it suggests that the team works very well together. Looking ahead what is my role look my role is going to be whatever the president asks me to do. Well every single or I should say every other day I'm chairing the meeting that we do on this among White House principals to talk about next steps to try to ensure that Venezuela is stable and as the president has directed us to do to ensure that the new Venezuelan government actually listens to the United States and does what the United States needs it to do under our country's best interest so I'm going to be as involved as the president wants me to be so far that's been very involved and I'll keep on doing that so long as the president asks me to do it. White House communications director Stephen Chung also responded to the article saying that President Trump has full confidence in Gabbard and she's doing a fantastic job. Chung further called the reporting an attempt to sow division by the media. Today President Trump said that he is to buy $200 billion in mortgage bonds to drive down rates. President Trump wrote on True Social now I am giving special attention to the housing market because I chose not to sell Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in my first term a truly great decision and against the advice of the experts it is now worth many times that amount an absolute fortune and has $200 billion in cash. President Trump also wrote because of this I am instructing my representatives to buy $200 billion in mortgage bonds this will drive mortgage rates down monthly payments down and make the cost of owning a home more affordable. President Trump stated yesterday that he would take action to prohibit large institutional investors from purchasing single-family homes in order to alleviate public concerns over inflation and the cost of living. President Trump wrote on True Social for a very long time buying and owning a home was considered the pinnacle of the American dream it was the reward for working hard and doing the right thing but now that American dream is increasingly out of reach for far too many people especially younger Americans. President Trump will also call upon Congress to enact legislation to prevent large corporations from controlling housing availability. His post also said I am immediately taking steps to ban large institutional investors from buying more single family homes and I'll be calling on Congress to codify it people live in homes not corporations. According to analysts from the Office of Policy Development and Research at the Department of Housing and Urban Development over the past decade private equity giants real estate investment trusts and other large institutional investors have purchased an increasing number of single family homes across the United States for rental purposes. This has reduced the housing supply available to ordinary homebuyers and fueled rising property prices and exerted pressure on rents. According to data from April last year Blackstone Group owned over 230,000 apartments. The second largest apartment owner was Graystar a global long-term rental apartment investment and operator holding 138,000 apartments. Additionally other companies each held at least 50,000 apartments or more. President Trump did not elaborate on the specifics of his plan nor did he mention which companies might be barred from purchasing detached homes. President Trump also indicated that he would discuss the matter further in his address at the World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland in two weeks time including additional proposals on housing and affordability. The announcement of this proposed ban immediately triggered a market reaction. Shares in Invitation Homes the nation's largest single-family home rental company fell seven percent. Shares in Blackstone the investment firm that owns and rents out single-family homes declined by approximately four to five percent. Shares in the home builder America Homes for Rent fell to their lowest level in nearly three years and were suspended from trading due to excessive volatility. Yesterday President Trump signed a presidential memorandum directing the U.S. to withdraw from 66 international organizations since their operational practices run counter to American national interests. President Trump issued an executive order in February last year directing the United States to withdraw from certain United Nations organizations to terminate funding for these bodies and review American support for all international organizations. He instructed the Secretary of State and the United States Ambassador to the United Nations to review all relevant matters and Secretary of State Marco Rubio has reported his findings. President Trump stated, I have considered the Secretary of State's report and after deliberating with my cabinet have determined that it is contrary to the interests of the United States to remain a member of, participate in or otherwise provide support to the organizations listed in Section 2 of this memorandum. These organizations include non-United Nations bodies such as the Commission for Environmental Cooperation, Education Cannot Wait and the Global Forum on Migration and Development alongside United Nations subsidiary bodies including the Department of Economic and Social Affairs, the International Law Commission and the International Trade Center. The White House stated that these organizations promote radical climate policies, global governance and ideological projects that conflict with American sovereignty and economic strength or they demonstrate inefficiency and poor effectiveness when addressing critical issues. The arrest of Maduro will trigger the most profound geopolitical upheaval in the Caribbean since the Cold War. Not only has the impact of the U.S. military operations shattered the bashing of Chauvism in South America, it has also severed the last lifeline that was sustaining the Cuban communist regime. For the authorities in Havana, the final battle for the survival of the regime may be imminent. According to the Washington Post, the Cuban government did not issue a statement until late Sunday evening confirming that 32 Cuban security personnel had been killed while protecting Maduro during his removal by U.S. forces. For several decades, Venezuela had relied on Cuba for security and intelligence. However, on this occasion, Cuba's renowned intelligence apparatus suffered a defeat. Cuba's intelligence apparatus was renowned during the Cold War. It repeatedly foiled assassination plots against the dictator Fidel Castro. They recruited senior officials within the U.S. government and protected heads of state from Angola to Panama. However, on this occasion, the U.S. military proceeded as if unopposed during the arrest of Maduro. Not only were Maduro and his captured alive, but they were also safely transported back to the United States without any American personnel being killed or U.S. equipment damaged. This indicates that Cuba's intelligence services had received no prior intelligence despite the U.S. fleet having assembled in the Caribbean for several months beforehand. Maduro's downfall will also weaken Cuba's communist regime. The loss of these 32 Cuban security personnel symbolizes the collapse of Cuba's decades-long military and political influence in the region. A report in the Spanish newspaper, El País, vividly captured how this fear has spread among the population. At a birthday party in Havana, for example, the celebratory mood instantly froze when guests received the breaking news on their mobile phones that Maduro had been arrested. The young people present exchanged anxious glances, fearing that Cuba could be next. More suffocating for Cuba than the military strikes is likely the severance of its energy supply. For a long time, Venezuelan oil has been a vital source for Cuba to maintain its electricity and economic operations. According to data cited by the New York Times, during the Chavez era, Venezuela supplied Cuba with up to 90,000 barrels of oil per day. Even by the fourth quarter of 2024, this figure had fallen to 35,000 barrels per day, which was still barely enough to sustain Cuba's fragile power grid. Now, with the United States taking control of Venezuela's oil industry, this remaining supply is at risk of being cut off completely. Cuban economist Ricardo Torres, in an interview with the New York Times, described the current situation as being in a free fall, with the data indicating that the country's social safety net has all but collapsed. The report highlights local price comparisons. The average monthly pension in Cuba currently stands at around 3,000 pesos, which is equal to less than 7 U.S. dollars. However, a single carton of 30 eggs in private shops costs 3,600 pesos, which is roughly 8 U.S. dollars. This means that a Cuban retired person who has worked all their life cannot afford even a carton of eggs with their entire monthly pension. Hyperinflation has destroyed the value of the currency and rendered the social welfare system an empty shadow of itself. The New York Times interviewed Odalis Reyes, a 56-year-old resident of Havana, who expressed her despair at the fact that prolonged power cuts and shortages of supplies had reduced her and her fellow citizens to living like humanoids, going through the motion each day solely in order to scavenge for food and endure the blackouts. Outside the capital Havana, provinces endure power cuts lasting up to 20 hours daily, forcing residents back to primitive living conditions. With petrol shortages preventing garbage collection, urban waste piles up in mountains, triggering uncontrolled outbreaks of dengue fever and chikungunya. The collapse of the economy is fatal for the government. Enrique Garcia, a former Cuban intelligence officer who defected to the United States, stated, the people may go hungry, but the repressive apparatus must enjoy privilege. Should the regime lose all economic capacity, no system could endure. The U.S. government is evidently well informed about the situation in Cuba. President Trump stated bluntly that Cuba had become a failed state that appeared ready to fall following the severing of Venezuela's oil supply, thus rendering direct U.S. military intervention unnecessary. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also stated that Cuba would collapse very soon due to its economic isolation. Globally speaking, Cuba now finds itself facing unprecedented isolation. The CCP, once a creditor nation, currently shows little inclination to provide aid. Although Russia and Mexico are providing sporadic oil supplies, this tenuous lifeline could be cut off at any moment given the immense diplomatic pressure that Mexico is facing from the United States. The Cuban government is facing the deadliest storm in the 67 years since the communist revolution. This butterfly effect triggered by the upheaval in Venezuela is not merely an economic crisis, but the ticking countdown of the regime's demise. Yesterday, President Trump held a 35-minute telephone conversation with Colombian President Gustavo Petro. It was President Petro who made the call. President Trump wrote on True Social, it was a great honor to speak with the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, who called to explain the situation of drugs and other disagreements that we have had. The two have plans for an in-person meeting at the White House. President Trump also said, arrangements are being made between Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the Foreign Ministry of Colombia. The meeting will take place in the White House in Washington, D.C. The Colombian president's office subsequently confirmed the exchange, describing the conversation as friendly and mutually respectful. Petro addressed supporters at a rally in the capital Bogota, stating that this marked the first direct telephone conversation between the two since President Trump's return to the White House. Petro had requested the U.S. side to reopen bilateral dialogue. The reason this telephone conversation has attracted such intense international attention is that bilateral relations had just undergone an unprecedented crisis within the past week. Since President Trump's return to the White House in January of 2025, relations between the United States and Colombia have reached a freezing point. Last September, the United States revoked Petro's entry visa because during his attendance at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, he took to the streets to participate in an anti-Trump, pro-Palestinian rally and to deliver a speech. In October, the U.S. Treasury Department imposed sanctions on Petro himself, his family members, and several cabinet officials, inciting involvement in global drug trafficking. Furthermore, Colombia was placed on the U.S. blacklist for failing to cooperate in the war on drugs, resulting in substantial cuts to U.S. aid. The escalation of tensions between the two nations is also closely linked to recent U.S. military operations in Venezuela. Last Sunday, President Trump publicly denounced Petro as a sick man who likes to manufacture cocaine and sell it to the United States. When asked by the media whether the U.S. might consider military intervention in Colombia, President Trump replied, that sounds good to me. Following Maduro's arrest, the most brazen figure globally has been Petro. He has been shouting, Trump, come and get me, I'm waiting here. Maduro once also boasted, come and get me, Trump, and his wish was granted, so should the Colombian president's wish also be granted. These remarks, coupled with the U.S. military's operation to arrest Maduro, have heightened tensions in Colombia. Petro subsequently called upon the populace to defend the nation's sovereignty, and he warned of the consequences of foreign military intervention. On the same day, the Colombian government also announced that it had deployed approximately 30,000 soldiers to the border region adjacent to Venezuela to bolster security measures. While President Trump's invitation has alleviated the imminent risk of military confrontation, it does not signify that the United States will abandon its hardline stance on drug trafficking and security matters. Yesterday, the Trump administration announced a new inverted food pyramid that prioritizes many foods that were formerly not considered healthy under prior guidance. The new pyramid reveals an upside-down triangle with nutrient-dense items like meat, cheese, and vegetables like carrots and broccoli at the top, which is the broadest portion of the graphic. The next row features items like whole milk, salmon, berries, and other vegetables, along with butter, eggs, and avocado. At the bottom, which is the narrowest part of the inverted triangle, shows items like whole grains and bread products. Department of Agriculture and Health revises the guidelines every five years. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. presented the new dietary guidelines alongside other Health and Human Services officials, as well as with Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins. RFK, Jr. said, These new guidelines are informed by the best and most reliable research on health and nutrition, particularly as it relates to the role of our diets in the prevalence of chronic disease in the country. The new guidelines encourage you to eat many of the same foods, but the difference is in the balance. The old pyramid, which was first published in 1992, was criticized by experts for placing too much emphasis on carbohydrates and not enough emphasis on protein and healthy fats. But the new pyramid and accompanying guidelines place greater emphasis on consuming protein and healthy fats, while de-emphasizing carbohydrates, especially processed foods. Brooke Rollins said, These guidelines replace corporate-driven assumptions, with common-sense goals and gold-standard scientific integrity. Dr. Marty McCary, the Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, said, that the rise in insulin resistance and whole-body inflammation that is afflicting children today stems from a protein-poor, micronutrient-poor, ultra-processed refined-carbohydrate diet. The old guidelines had such a low protein recommendation that we are increasing that by 50 to 100 percent. Kids need protein. The old protein guidelines were to prevent starvation and withering away. These new protein guidelines are designed for American kids to thrive, and they're based on science, not on dogma. The previous guidelines pictured saturated fat as a source of concern. It associated saturated fat with processed foods, such as burgers, desserts, and butter. But now, healthy fats, including meat, cheese, milk, and olive oil, appear near the wider end of the new food pyramid at the top. The new guidelines take a noticeably stronger stand against foods that are over-consumed, especially sugar. Previous versions of the guide emphasized advice to limit the intake of food with added sugar, but the advice to avoid the use of added sugar was given only to those caring for infants and children. The new guidelines are more direct. It says, avoid sugar, sweetened beverages such as sodas, drinks, and energy drinks. And although some allowances are made for sugar at mealtimes, it comes with a warning. The guideline states, while no amount of added sugar or non-nutritive sweetener is recommended or considered part of a healthy or nutritious diet, one meal should contain no more than 10 grams of added sugars. RFK Jr. says that the new dietary guidelines mark a clear shift, emphasizing a tougher stance on highly processed foods. He argues that past federal policies favored refined carbs and corporate profits over public health. Some critics, however, read the new guidelines as a gift to other industrial interests, and they warn that encouraging more animal-based foods should come with clear standards. So, they raise concerns about antibiotics, hormones, and chemical exposure in meat production, and they ask that those foods be produced under organic or chemical-free standards. Also, the new guidelines make a stronger statement about alcohol consumption. The previous version of the guidelines recommended limiting intake to two drinks per day for men and one drink a day for women. The new version states, consume less alcohol for better overall health, but it does not mention a safe amount. Dr. Mehmet Oz, the administrator of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, explained the rationale behind the change. Alcohol is a social lubricant that brings people together. In the best case scenario, I don't think you should drink alcohol, but it does allow people an excuse to bond and socialize, and there's probably nothing healthier than having a good time with friends in a safe way. If you look at the blue zones, for example, around the world where people live the longest, alcohol is sometimes part of their diet. Again, small amounts taken very judiciously and usually in a celebratory fashion. So, there is alcohol on these dietary guidelines, but the implication is don't have it for breakfast. There should be something done, a small amount, with hopefully some kind of an event that may have alcohol added. But they generally move away from two glasses of men, one glass of women. There was never really good data to support that quantity of alcohol consumption. That data was probably primarily confused with broader data about social connectedness. Dueto says that the new dietary guidelines are part of the effort to address rising costs and helping Americans eat healthier and save money over time. When these guidelines are followed, Americans will be saving themselves thousands of dollars. If we want to help cut health care costs in our country, we must become a healthier country. According to the CEA, poor diet is the root cause of obesity, which accounts for 400 billion dollars in medical spending each year. A healthier America will lead to a more affordable America. The new dietary guidelines from the Trump administration will ensure federal dollars go to real food to improve public health and therefore save the American people their hard-earned cash over the course of their lives. Government officials are currently working on improving the accessibility of unprocessed healthy food to all Americans, and the accessibility will meet the financial status of all Americans. These new dietary guidelines are a framework which is meant to be customized to meet the needs, the preferences, and the financial status of all American families. For example, a meal including such items as pork or eggs or whole milk or cheese, tomatoes, other fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables, whole grain bread, corn tortilla can cost today right around three dollars for that meal. Three dollars. And soon USDA will finalize our stocking standards, which means that those businesses in America that take the SNAP benefit, what they are required to stock in order to take that benefit, by the way that's almost 250,000 retailers across America, that very soon we will be finalizing that rule that will mandate all 250,000 retailers in America double the type of staple foods that they provide for America's SNAP households. This means healthier options will be in reach for all American families regardless of circumstance at levels never seen before in our country. These dietary guidelines are foundational to so many USDA programs and their introduction marks the first step in and dinner plates to the best of American agriculture.
