Exploring the Century-Old Roundhouse in Changhua #FascinatingCity #gjwtravelercontest
I have always loved designs with a touch of vintage charm. The “roundhouse” built by the Japanese for steam locomotives not only focused on functionality but also showed a strong sense of aesthetics. I truly admire the wisdom of people from that era. Perhaps that is why retro designs remain so timeless and captivating.
In fact, Taiwan once had six roundhouses, located in Taipei, Hsinchu, Changhua, Chiayi, Kaohsiung, and Kaohsiung Harbor. However, as time passed, most of them disappeared.
Today, only the Changhua roundhouse remains fully preserved, and it is still in operation — making it especially precious.
