LIVE: Senate Leaders Speak on the Floor as Shutdown Looms

Senate leaders speak on the floor on the afternoon of Sept. 29 as it returns from a week's break on Monday with two days left to act to extend government funding or trigger a partial agency shutdown.

The chamber's top Democrat, Chuck Schumer, is urging his caucus to vote against funding operations in the face of a standoff with President Donald Trump over cuts to health care spending. Trump has called leaders from both parties to a White House sitdown on Monday.
