Mom’s Timeless Shine ✨ | Sweet Pork Bite (หมูคำหวาน) & Her Quiet Love 💛🌼🌙 #gjwmothersday2025 #momrecipe
Before 5:30 AM, my mom would already be in the kitchen making me หมูคำหวาน (Sweet Pork Bite) 🍱 so I had a good lunch before school—then she’d rush off to work before 6:30 AM to beat Bangkok’s traffic 🚦.
This wasn’t just food—it was her love in every bite.
Today I’m sharing her version of this Thai restaurant classic: tender steamed pork with a zesty chili–fish sauce–lemon dressing 🌶️🍋🌿. It’s simple, comforting, and full of memories. No kale stems (ก้านคะน้า) like in restaurants—just how she made it at home.
🎵 I’m humming บัวขาว “The White Lotus” in this video, a song that reminds me of how she used to sing to me when I was a baby, or whenever I needed comfort.
🌼 Her favourite flower was Night Jasmine—fragrant, gentle, and quietly beautiful.
🌟 She also adored Thong Urai, glowing golden like her warmth and resilience.
🧄✨ My mom also loved strong southern flavours—especially ผัดสะตอ (Stir-Fried Stink Beans). Bold, punchy, and unforgettable—just like her cooking.
Now that she can’t fully care for herself and I’m far away, I still remember her through the dishes she made.
There’s one dish I haven’t learned yet: แกงปลาส้ม (Southern Thai Sour Fish Curry). She used to crave it when she wasn’t well.
I never learned it… but I will. And next time I’m home, I’ll make it for her.
