
Senate Passes Budget Resolution After Overnight Vote; 1 Body Released Does Not Belong to a Hostage
Senators on Capitol Hill passed a budget blueprint early this morning, paving the way to approve part of President Trump's $340 billion budget bill that will fund border operations, immigration enforcement and defense spending. The Senate votes come just one week before House Republicans move on a separate budget approach.
The Israeli military says one of the bodies released by Hamas is not a hostage. It was supposed to be the body of Shiri Bibas, the mother of two kids abducted on October 7th. But while the bodies of her two young sons have been returned, Shiri is nowhere to be found. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised revenge on Hamas for violating the conditions of the cease-fire.
Kash Patel passed the senate confirmation vote on Thursday to become the new director of the FBI, with a vote of 51-49. All Democrats and Independents voted 'no,' with Republicans Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska joining the opposition. FBI directors serve 10-year terms, although the president does have the power to remove them.
