King George III of the United Kingdom (1738-1820) was an important monarch in British history. He was the son of Frederick, Crown Prince of Wales, and Augusta of Saxony-Gotha. George III reigned from 1760 until his death in 1820, becoming the longest-reigning British monarch in the reign of a British monarch. Throughout his reign, George III faced many important events and notable changes in British and world history. He was the king of England during the American Revolution, when colonial America fought for independence and established the United States. George III also experienced the Industrial Revolution, when Britain moved from an agricultural economy to an industrial one.
