POUGHKEEPSIE – A 45-year-old alleged drug dealer was arrested Friday by the Dutchess County Drug Task Force (DCDTF) following an investigation into illegal drug sales on the city’s south side. Christopher Brown was arrested outside of his Barclay Street apartment on the felonies of criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal sale of a controlled substance.
A task force investigation identified Brown as a subject selling narcotics at various locations throughout the City of Poughkeepsie. As part of the investigation, undercover agents made multiple purchases of narcotics from the Brown over the course of several months.
When agents arrested him on Friday morning, they recovered cocaine packaged for sale in his possession.
Brown was later arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court and remanded without bail to the Dutchess County Jail. Numerous other charges are pending against the defendant related to the sale of narcotics, according to DCDTF Det. Sergeant Adam Harris.
District Attorney Anthony Parisi said, “The illegal distribution of narcotics continues to pose a serious threat to the safety and well-being of our communities. This arrest reflects the persistent, intelligence-driven work of our Drug Task Force to identify and investigate those allegedly engaged in distributing dangerous drugs in our neighborhoods. We remain committed to working with our law enforcement partners to disrupt illegal drug trafficking, hold offenders accountable, and protect the residents of Dutchess County.”
