LEOMINSTER — The Leominster Public Library is offering patrons a chance to reduce their library fines while helping local families in need through its Food for Fines program, running now through Dec. 31.

Patrons can donate nonperishable, unopened, unexpired food in good condition to support the United Way of North Central Massachusetts’ food drive.

Each donated item is worth $2 in library fines. The library cannot provide change if the value of the donation exceeds the amount owed. The program offers a simple way to clear library fines while giving back to the community.
