DEVENS — Veteran Pathways of New England, a nonprofit organization based in Ayer, is sponsoring a walk/run to benefit veterans on Nov. 8 at 10 a.m. at 84 Antietam St.

“Every Veterans Day, our community comes together for something bigger than a race: a tradition of gratitude, action, and support for the brave men and women who serve us,” said Veteran Pathways of New England in an announcement of the walk/run event.

“Every step you take funds life-changing programs directly at Veteran Pathways of New England. However you choose to participate, crossing that line means standing tall with our local Veterans. This year, we invite you to join that tradition at the annual Journey Home 5k/10k Road Race in Devens!”

People can choose their course, with something for everyone, and people can pick their own pace.

There will be a 5K Run/Walk, a 5K Dog Walk a 5K Non-Competitive Ruck, a 10K Run and a 10K Competitive Ruck.

“Look forward to post-race perks and an awesome after-party to round out your day,” Veterans Pathways representatives said.

All participants will receive a commemorative Journey Home dog-tag medal to mark the occasion.

Cross the line and head straight to Columbia Tavern for great food, cold Yuengling beer and awesome company.

“Bring your family, invite your friends, or bring your pup along,” they said.

Register by Nov. 1 to guarantee you get a race T-shirt and save on registration fees.

Supporters can also dedicate a sign along the “Hero’s Mile,” a special stretch of the race lined with signs recognizing brave service members.

Dedications range from $5 to $250, and race management handles all the printing and setup.

All of the proceeds directly support Veteran Pathways of New England.

Race-Day Packet Pickup will be available on the race morning right near the race parking area and the start/finish line. Pre-registered participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, who must sign a waiver on their behalf at packet pickup.

Awards will be presented to the top three overall finishers in each competitive category: 5K Run, 10K Run and 10K Competitive Ruck.

All participants, including walkers, dog walkers, and 5K ruckers, will receive a Journey Home 5K/10K dog-tag medal at the finish line.
