Today, my source shared the following new information with me:
🟠 1. The Central Military Commission (CMC) will soon hold a military rank promotion ceremony.
The ranks of some prospective CMC members and the current heads of several departments do not yet match their positions. The selection committee gives priority to officers who currently hold the ranks of general or lieutenant general.
Meanwhile, several officers whose ranks do not match their positions will be promoted.
According to my source, four officers will be promoted to the rank of general, and a number of others to lieutenant general.
🟠 2. The commanders and political commissars of China's five theater commands will almost all hold the rank of general. Some personnel assignments will also be adjusted.
🟠 3. The ranks of prospective CMC members must first be raised before they can join the Central Military Commission.
🟠 4. Han Shengyan was eliminated from the competition for CMC vice chairman because of his ties to Zhong Shaojun, Xi Jinping’s former top military aide and former Director of the CMC General Office. ( Yesterday, the CCP officially confirmed Zhong Shaojun’s expulsion from the Party for serious violations of Party discipline and laws. )
According to my source, Han Shengyan was recommended by Zhong Shaojun, and Han himself is still under investigation.

Because the information my source provides is highly sensitive, he sometimes speaks vaguely, leaves things unclear, and chooses his words very carefully. He is also reluctant to answer follow-up questions.
Therefore, when I mentioned yesterday that the appointments might be announced "in about two weeks," it is possible that he did not express himself clearly at the time, or that I misunderstood him. It is also possible that his train of thought had shifted. When I asked when the announcement would be made, he may have been thinking about the approximate timing of the upcoming ceremony to promote officers to the rank of general.
