TOWN OF WARWICK – The Town of Warwick has received a $3.5 million state grant to acquire 313 acres surrounding the Warwick Conference Center, creating a new public park and bringing the town’s protected land to nearly 6,000 acres.

The grant was awarded through New York’s Open Space Grant program. Town officials said it was the maximum award allowed under the program and the largest grant secured by a town in the state during the current funding cycle.

The latest award brings Warwick’s grant funding to more than $18 million in less than three years, according to the town.

“I want to thank New York State for recognizing the importance of land preservation, parks and open space, and for investing in the Town of Warwick,” Town Supervisor Jesse Dwyer said. “This achievement would not have been possible without our invaluable partners at the Open Space Institute and our friends of the Warwick Conference Center.”
