The Hudson Valley during autumn is a remarkable sight.

The green leaves covering the abundant trees and shrubs transition to striking shades of red, yellow, purple, orange, pink, magenta, blue, and brown.

Along Route 301 at Fahnestock State Park near the Kent-Putnam Valley line, out-of-towners gather to snap photos of the beautiful colors.

Despite horticulturists’ fears that an overly wet summer would lead to a bland autumn, vibrant foliage abounds this week throughout Putnam County from Cold Spring in the west to Patterson in the east, adorning roadsides and crowning rolling hills.
