TOWN OF ULSTER – The former Quality Inn motel on Route 28 in the Town of Ulster should be ready for occupancy by the end of the year.
Work on the $49 million conversion to RUPCO’s Willow Landing apartment complex is nearing completion, said RUPCO CEO Kevin O’Connor.
“We hope to get a temporary certificate of occupancy in early November and we are going to bring in the furniture and we hope that occupancy will start around December 1st and we hope to get as many people before the holidays as possible,” he told Mid-Hudson News.
The 82 apartments will be available for formerly homeless families and individuals.
Aside from the apartments, the complex will include Kingston’s YWCA daycare center, a therapeutic saltwater pool, and a commissary kitchen, all open to the public.
The project prioritizes residents with mental health or substance-use challenges, veterans, young adults, and neighbors experiencing homelessness and housing instability in Ulster County.
State Senator Michelle Hinchey (D, Saugerties) announced on Wednesday that she secured $500,000 from the state to help with the transformation of the facility.
