WOODSTOCK – Fire in an apartment in the White Birch Apartments at 4 White Birch Lane in the Town of Woodstock claimed the life of one person, State Police said Monday.
The fire, at about 5:25 a.m. on Friday, October 16, also injured another person who was transported to HealthAlliance Hospital in Kingston for treatment of smoke inhalation.
The identity of the deceased person was being withheld pending positive identification.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined and under investigation by the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Ulster County Fire Investigation Unit.
Assisting troopers at the scene were Ulster County fire investigators, New York City Environmental Protection Police, Woodstock Police and the Ulster County Medical Examiner’s Office.
