FITCHBURG – Fall foliage is reaching peak in North Central Mass and Mother Nature is showing off in a spectacular way at Coggshall Park.

Friends of Coggshall Park board member Debbie Jeffries posted a series of gorgeous photos she took at the scenic spot on Oct. 16 in the group’s Facebook page along with this message – “Does the weather have you feeling down? There’s a cure for that! Take a ride to Coggshall and take in the beauty of fall! Even in the dreary weather, you’re going to smile!”

The city resident is also in charge of Friends of Coggshall Park membership and manages its social media. Like many, she enjoys visiting the 212-acre wooded park that is open to the public and features benches, hiking trails, a playground, the historic Stone House facing Mirror Lake, and a rotunda on the edge of the water erected in 1901 by Henry Coggshall, who donated the land and park to the city in 1893.

“Coggshall is special to so many and it brings back memories of childhood for many,” Jeffries recently shared. “Whether it’s visiting the playground, watching the ducks, or celebrating a special occasion with photos as many couples have been married or had their wedding photos taken there. It’s now become a popular spot for prom photos and senior class photos.”
