LEOMINSTER — Ginny’s Helping Hand’s holidays fundraiser is underway, a yearly large-scale effort that helps feed hundreds in the region.

Dubbed A Hand Up for the Holidays, every donation puts up a paper hand with the donor’s name on it in the front window of the nonprofit organization located right near downtown Leominster.

“Thanksgiving is just six weeks away and for many of our neighbors, a holiday meal isn’t a given,” the Leominster-based nonprofit organization posted on social media. “Your gift helps us fill 1,200 holiday food baskets this Thanksgiving and Christmas with everything a family needs to gather around the table. Every donation adds a hand with your name to our window, and we’d love to see yours up there.”

A Hand Up for the Holidays supports Ginny’s’ Baskets of Hope program, providing complete holiday meals to 600 families at Thanksgiving and 600 at Christmastime. People can donate online by visiting tinyurl.com/HandUp2026 or in person at 52 Mechanic St., with $55 providing one family’s complete holiday meal and $100 covering a family for both holidays.

The campaign launched on Sept. 30 and runs through Dec. 31. There are already many colorful hands decorating the windows at Ginny’s and their goal is to fill them up with 1,200 hands by the end of the year.

“Families in our community are working hard and still coming up short,” Robbins disclosed. “When rent, heat and groceries all go up at the same time, something has to give and too often it’s the food on the table. The holidays should be a time when families can sit down together and celebrate, not worry about how to stretch one more meal.”

Robbins reported that in 2025, their food pantry had more than 64,000 guest visits. He conveyed that all are welcome, and they truly appreciate everyone who supports their holidays fundraiser.

“Every hand in our window represents a neighbor saying, ‘We’ve got you,’” he said. “That’s what ‘a hand up’ has always meant at Ginny’s.”
