LIVINGSTON MANOR – The Catskill Project in Livingston Manor celebrated its innovative, ultra-energy-efficient passive house community on Thursday.

Co-founder Greg Hale said they’re under contract on a new home. “The Catskill Project is a single-family residential community. We now have six houses constructed,” he said. “We have a seventh contract that’s going to close in a week and a half.”

The homes they offer are costly and going higher because of Canadian lumber tariffs, but the payoff is worth it to some buyers:
“You really have to find the buyers who value the overall performance. We’re very low-maintenance, very resilient houses, super comfortable, super healthy, as well as having a much lower energy bill,” he said.
Despite recent cuts to sustainable programs that have hurt their efforts, he remains optimistic. “This land is so spectacular. I feel like it’s got to make things go better,” he said, hopefully.
