NEW YORK — Raven-Symoné Returns to The View for Milestone 30th Season
Raven-Symoné is preparing to return to The View, rejoining the ABC daytime talk show as a guest co-host during its milestone 30th season.
The actress and television personality, 40, will sit at the show’s Hot Topics table on Thursday, Oct. 15, and Friday, Oct. 16, alongside Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin.
Raven-Symoné will also appear with her wife, Miranda Maday, on Thursday’s episode of Behind the Table, the companion podcast hosted by executive producer Brian Teta. The couple also co-host their own program, The Best Podcast Ever with Raven and Miranda.
Her return is part of a broader effort to bring back familiar faces as The View marks its 30th season. Since the new season began in September, original co-hosts Star Jones and Debbie Matenopoulos, as well as Lisa Ling and Sherri Shepherd, have made guest appearances.
For Raven-Symoné, the upcoming visit represents a reunion with a program where she spent more than a year as a regular panelist. The That’s So Raven star officially joined the show in June 2015 after previously appearing several times as a guest co-host.
She remained on the panel until 2016, when she left to develop and star in Raven’s Home, a Disney Channel sequel to her popular sitcom.
Her time on The View featured spirited discussions and occasional controversy, with some of her remarks during Hot Topics segments attracting widespread attention.
During an October 2024 appearance on Sherri, Raven-Symoné jokingly described her biggest lesson from working on the daytime talk show as learning “to shut the hell up.”
“To like, not speak. If you have an opinion, keep it to yourself,” she told Shepherd, her former View co-host, before laughing and clarifying, “No, I’m just playing.”
Despite the joke, Raven-Symoné explained that her experience on the show taught her important lessons about communicating in front of a live television audience.
“When I started the show, I said, ‘I’m going to make this like I’m talking to my best friends in my house,’ ” she recalled. “When I left the show, I said, ‘That is a television show, live, with million people watching, that was not neighborhood conversation.’ ”
“You really do have to mold how you say things,” she continued. “It’s live! It’s really difficult. And it’s really difficult to say anything on television, live or not, because people truly get clips and then choose what it means later for themselves.”
During another appearance on The View earlier that same month, Raven-Symoné acknowledged that visiting the studio continued to make her anxious.
“As you guys know, every time I come here, I have to come to this job maybe 45 minutes earlier to say hi to everybody,” she told the panel. “And then when I get on this, I have PTSD — please don’t ask me any questions.”
She then shifted to a lighter subject, praising the show’s drinkware.
“But I do love these cups!” she said while taking a sip of water. “Good cups this season!”
Her scheduled appearances come as longtime co-host Joy Behar remains on medical leave following a dislocated shoulder.
Behar has been absent since the show announced her injury on Oct. 1. On Tuesday’s episode, moderator Goldberg read a statement in which Behar offered an update on her recovery.
“Thanks to everyone who inquired about my recovery,” Behar said. “If I was still 21 I’d have bounced back the next day, but since I’m an old bat recuperating takes a bit longer. I plan to be back next week to fill everyone in on all the gory details.”
The injury also prevented Behar from joining the panel on Oct. 7, her 84th birthday.
Goldberg addressed her absence during that episode, sharing a humorous message from Behar, who said that “despite sharing a birthday with Vladimir Putin, she does not have the Russian plague.”
“So what we’re saying is: Get better fast so we can celebrate you back here on The View,” Goldberg told her colleague.
The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
