Prior to Selma Blair’s alleged violent outburst on a New York-bound Delta flight Sunday, during which she allegedly bit one flight attendant, punched another and tried to open the plane’s doors, the actor reportedly admitted on social media that she was “not great.”

The 54-year-old “Legally Blonde” star revealed her state of mind while “liking” a fan’s comment on her Instagram account, Page Six reported. Apparently, before Blair boarded her plane in Los Angeles, the fan posted a comment which read, “I’m so happy you (sic) feeling great and doing great and making new memories!”

Blair strangely responded, “I’m. It (sic) great. I’m sad. I’m grateful. I hope. I am not great,” according to Page Six. (Comments on Blair’s Instagram have since been limited.)

Sometime later, during Delta flight 938, but prior to her reported inflight meltdown, Blair went on Instagram to post a series of smiling selfies and other photos of her friends and of her dog, set to the Pixies’ “Wave of Mutilation.” She captioned her photo: “From LA to New Mexico to La to nyc to LA Scout and I have been busy. I miss you.”

Blair’s busy schedule and issues with her medication came up during her emotional appearance Monday in a New York courtroom, Page Six and People reported. The “Cruel Intentions” actress pleaded not guilty to two counts of second-degree assault following the series of alleged attacks, which began on the flight and which necessitated her being restrained until the plane landed, the New York Daily News also reported. Blair was arrested after the plane landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport at about 11 p.m. Sunday, and Port Authority police responded to a “physically abusive passenger.”

As Blair was being taken into custody, she allegedly kicked a Port Authority officer in the head, and she allegedly assaulted a nurse after she was taken to a hospital for evaluation,  People also reported.

The next day in court, her attorney Shawn Barnes told Judge Indira Khan that Blair had missed taking her medication, which is prescribed to treat her multiple sclerosis, Page Six reported. Blair revealed in 2018 that she was diagnosed with the chronic condition, which involves the breakdown of the protective covering of nerves and causes numbness, weakness and trouble walking.

Barnes also said she had fallen and hit her head. Barnes said the actor had boarded the flight after being on set and working “extensive hours and exhaustive hours” in the days leading up to the trip.

“These factors coupled with the altitude, resulted in a state of severe confusion and disorientation,” Barnes said. “This was not an intentional assault.”

Khan replied, “Ms. Blair should not get special treatment because she is a celebrity.”

However, the judge allowed Blair to be released from custody after setting bail at $20,000 cash or a $60,000 bond, Page Six also reported.

Since Blair’s arrested, reports have emerged that show that this isn’t the first time Blair has suffered a reported in-flight meltdown, or bitten another person while feeling under stress.

Blair experienced a “total psychotic blackout” aboard a Delta flight in June 2016, while she was traveling from Cancun, Mexico to Los Angeles with her then-4-year-old son and his father, fashion designer Jason Bleick, Page Six said in another report.

At the time, witnesses said that Blair had been drinking wine in first class when she suddenly began crying and making alarming statements about a man abusing her and threatening to kill her, TMZ reported. Two nurses aboard the flight reportedly tried to help the actress, while the pilot alerted authorities that a passenger may have mixed alcohol and medication.

When the plane landed at Los Angeles International Airport, Blair was taken to a hospital for an evaluation. She subsequently admitted in a statement Vanity Fair that she had mixed alcohol with her medication. “I take this very seriously, and I apologize to all of the passengers and crew that I disturbed and am thankful to all of the people who helped me in the aftermath. I am a flawed human being who makes mistakes and am filled with shame over this incident,” her statement said.

Meanwhile, in her 2022 memoir, “Mean Baby: A Memoir of Growing Up,” Blair said that her habit of biting other people stemmed from her feeling “overwhelmed” in public, Page Six said in another report. In her book, she admitted to biting three other celebrities: Sienna Miller, Seth MacFarlane, and Kate Moss.

“My system gets overwhelmed and instantaneously short-circuits…In my life, social interactions have been cumbersome,” Blair wrote.

Blair described biting Sienna Miller at the Chateau Marmont in 2006, after she introduced herself to the fellow actress, Page Six reported. She admitted to feeling a bit in awe over the way that Miller was winning parts over her, so she “playfully” grabbed her forearm and bit it. She expressed gratitude that Miller didn’t “shame” her for biting her.

Blair also said she bit “Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane on the hand after being introduced to him at a 2004 Las Vegas gathering and feeling “starstruck,” Page Six reported.

Blair said her interaction with Moss came while she was hanging out with the supermodel at a London hotel suite following a Marc Jacobs fashion show. While posing for photos with Moss, Blair wrote that she bit her finger, which first “was met with a laugh,” Page Six reported. Blair said Moss’ laugh prompted her to bite her again, but this time Moss grew angry and declared, “That really (expletive) hurt.”

“This was the first time I had any inkling of how much I might hurt people when I bit them,” Blair wrote, according to Page Six.
