FARMINGTON, CT – A Connecticut man who police said was awake for 20 hours in a ‘fatigued state’ is facing charges resulting from a , Conn., that claimed the life of a Putnam County man last year.
Officials in the Constitution State Monday reported that Daniel Morrone, 36, was arraigned on charges of misconduct with a motor vehicle, assault, failure to maintain proper lane and violating the state’s Move Over law in the Sept. 29, 2025, crash that killed Adam Peppe, 34, of Brewster.
Connecticut State police reported Morrone’s van was traveling eastbound along the interstate when it swerved into the right shoulder, striking Peppe, who was on the side of the highway following an earlier crash with another motorist.
Peppe’s daughter, who was traveling with him, was uninjured.
Troopers said Morrone was awake for 20 hours and 25 minutes in the 25-hour span prior to the crash.
Police noted that a driver-facing camera inside the van showed “several indicators of drowsiness or fatigue, including not limited to relaxed facial tone, body movements, head movements, head nodding, head swings and microsleep.”
Authorities added that several motorists including an off-duty police officer came to Peppe’s aid and began performing CPR. He later died at University of Connecticut Health Center.
