POUGHKEEPSIE – Central Hudson crews have restored power to more than 24,000 customers affected by a nor’easter that brought strong winds and heavy rain to the Mid-Hudson Valley over the weekend.
About 2,500 customers remained without power as of 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Central Hudson said it expected to restore most of those customers Sunday, with the remaining outages expected to be resolved by midday Monday. The utility said all 1,200 of its employees were working in field or support roles as part of its storm response.
Central Hudson urged residents to use caution around downed power lines, staying at least 30 feet away and assuming all downed lines are energized. Lines also may be concealed by fallen trees or branches.
“We’re nearing the completion of our restoration effort, but we know there is still important work ahead for the customers who remain without service,” said Eric Kiszkiel, Senior Vice President of Engineering & Operations. “We appreciate our customers’ patience and understanding as our crews safely complete these remaining repairs. We will continue to work until all of our customers are restored.”
