FITCHBURG — Empower Children for Success has announced a new community partnership with Hope & Comfort, a regional nonprofit that provides essential hygiene products to children and families experiencing hardship across Massachusetts.

Through the new distribution partnership, ECFS will receive regular supplies of personal care items, including soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes and deodorant. The products will be distributed directly to local families through neighborhood food pantries and area veterans’ organizations.

“Basic hygiene items are essential for health, dignity, and self-esteem, yet so many families facing economic hardship struggle to afford them,” said Marites MacLean, president of Empower Children for Success. “We are thrilled to join Hope & Comfort’s distribution network. This partnership allows us to expand our support systems and ensure that basic needs are met for the children and caregivers we serve.”

With the partnership now officially activated, ECFS leadership has placed its initial inventory orders through Hope & Comfort’s distribution center in Needham. Monthly shipments of hygiene products will become part of ECFS’s ongoing community outreach efforts.

The partnership is intended to help address what organizations describe as “hygiene insecurity” — the difficulty some individuals and families face in consistently obtaining basic personal care products. By making these items available through existing community networks, ECFS hopes to provide additional support to families who may already be relying on food pantries and other assistance programs.

“Empower Children for Success” is dedicated to promoting the healthy development of children throughout North Central Massachusetts by working with school systems, child care providers, government agencies and other community organizations.

Hope & Comfort’s mission is to provide sustained access to essential hygiene products to support the health, dignity and confidence of people experiencing hygiene insecurity across Massachusetts.
