STEWART AIRPORT – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netenyahu flew into New York Stewart International Airport at Newburgh on Thursday and was motorcaded to New York City for the United Nations General Assembly session.
The southbound Thruway had dozens of State Police cars traveling down the highway with several vehicles carrying dignitaries interspersed.
Each year when the UN General Assembly meets, airplanes carrying foreign dignitaries park at Stewart because, among other factors, there is significantly less traffic there and is some 60 miles north of Manhattan, providing increased security.
