Motorcyclist dies after I-190 crash in Lancaster

LANCASTER — State Police from the Leominster and Holden barracks and Fire and EMS workers from Lancaster responded to a crash involving two cars and a motorcycle on Interstate 190 northbound at about 4:30 p.m. Friday in which the motorcycle rider later died.

State Trooper Roisin Joyce reported that Lancaster EMS transported the motorcyclist, a 50-year-old man from Holden with serious injuries, to Leominster Hospital. He was later was pronounced dead at Leominster Hospital.

One of the car drivers was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. A third driver had minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

All lanes of the highway were closed until about 7 p.m. after the scene was cleared. Traffic was backed up due to the road closure, during the Friday evening rush hour.

The State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Section, State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office and Crime Scene Services Section also responded. The facts and circumstances of the crash are under investigation.
